How bizarre is it that lando has been complaining about adapting to this car since Australia and only in canada did they bring an upgrade that barely even did anything? 10th race for reference. Its actually beneficial for mcl to not bother putting any effort into performance upgrades for lando because it would not give him a leg up from oscar. Think abt it. Lando is already 2nd despite all this struggling and Mclaren is run by cowards. They don’t want to choose 1 driver above all (see 2024) to an almost flinching intensity. But funnily whether u agree or don’t, this car is so natural in oscar’s hands its almost by deliberation. So saying mcl is impartial is a flawed idea when its not a neutral car. Again, intentionally choosing a car design that makes ur driver numb to driving it, is shooting them in the foot. If u don’t think its intentional, then where is the effort to help him? (We’re almost 50% done w the season and acc to lando, the new suspension needs an extreme level of refinement to be of good use). Anyway its so annoying to think abt that i’ll see u guys on friday šŸ”Ŗ.

The gap was definitely there. Oscar was drifting to the right, he was going to swing that way (Lando tends to predictably swing right when he overtakes on the DRS straights) and when he saw Lando not going predictably right, he closed the gap. But at that point, Lando had already committed to the gap on the left and from his onboard, you can actually see the moment he realised Oscar was closing it and tried to swing back behind Oscar, which led to the collision.
Lando blamed himself because he made the contact. And everyone in that team hopped onto it. Yes, Lando caused the collision but Oscar put Lando in that position. And as such, should have taken half the blame. But of all the incidents between the two of them over the last few years, I've never seen Oscar take accountability. So it made me happy when Lando said, after the race, that he wasn't worried about Austria, because he knew he was the quickest on the track on Sunday.
I think he knows what happened. But taking the blame is easier than whatever hellish nightmare andrea stella would have unleashed on him if he hadn't.
Babe the thing is lando open and shut that case 0.001s after he crashed by confessing to papaya on papaya crimes. He commit the cardinal sin of making contact (gasp) but so did oscar! Oscar didn’t give him space because he was on race line and technically didnt have to do shit but as Lando explained, no contact is the one (1) rule to follow. So while it was lando’s fault, pastry boy also broke mcl’s rule!

🧔McLaren’s fumble of the year nominees—
🤔PR edition🤔
Excluding lando from twitter header photo despite taking a photo with lando in miami
NEVER sharing that lando was the top scorer in the grid of imola-monaco-barcelona triple header (his career first!)
Posting oscar wins monaco graphic instead of actual results
Radio silence on the colossal levels of hate Lando receives on the daily
Joking about lando’s (serious) brake failure in china
Not training the management to be kind about lando and furthering the (ableist) ā€˜mentally fragile’ mass brainwashing + bullying
Not training management how to defend lando from dinosaurs like alan jones
Not training management to accept team mistakes like professionals (but insinuating serious concerns for lando if he embarrasses mcl)

What I learnt abt Canada gp after reading articles on f1 app (for those still mentally living that weekend):-
acc to stella, in fp3, medium tires didn’t have an improvement on lap time, hence they stuck to softs for qualifying.
BUT thanks to track evolution, mediums responded better as the track cooled and improved grip so rip to mcl’s foresight
Lando worked used softs, oscar new; lando fastest in q1, close behind george in q2.
In q3 with new tires, lando glanced the turn 7 wall in his second run, which put him at p7.
Stella believes despite the disadvantage to Mercedes and redbull’s mediums, lando was on track for pole as the speed was there. But he tried too hard (remember spain🄲 quali), and lost the rhythm.
this being a circuit mcl struggles with, lando was impressive until the glance at turn 7. Again he was the fastest driver on sunday, catching up oscar until the crash.
THE NEW SUSPENSION- lando used it for quali + race, but oscar opted out
[So this year’s car has an ā€˜anti-dive’ front suspension, giving the car a flat aero platform. With less dive under braking, the ride height can be lower.
This anti- dive reduces the ā€˜feedback’ and feel received by the steering and brakes— Lando’s tools to get feedback from car and drive accordingly (hence his struggle this year). He describes this car as feeling numb to him.
So mcl brought a new front suspension which is so mildly tweaked, indistinguishable from its former and hidden from the car bodywork to make assumptions of it. ]
Tldr- it should improve the steering feel for lando but on interviews he said he didn’t help much and further improvements and tests on other tracks were needed. He described the friday as one of the worst ever in 2025 (maybe explains his sullen look on Saturday morning).
post race, lando said that he wasnt concerned after the crash because he was the fastest driver on Sunday (and basically looked v confident).

Its so patronising when people say they worry about lando and his mental health. Even the haters saying ā€˜I want him to get a coach because his depressing attitude makes me sad’ like you thought you ate? These people are contributing to hate and furthering the narrative that he’s mentally weak.
He has 5 fastest laps out of the 10 races, he won monaco, he won a very chaotic Melbourne race, he *just* said he feels confident in his skills, he’s off social media, but facts arent compelling enough…

Really took for granted how often lando getting pole position felt like…
Once he sorts through the quali day, its over for you people. I’m dying to discover how much of a gap lando puts between him and the rest when he’s leading in a race that is not monaco or raining.

I know we lando fans are braving through the storm this year, but the ā€˜weak mindset’, ā€˜can’t handle the pressure’, ā€˜bottler’ allegations, ā€˜fragile self loather’, ā€˜championship mentality’ nonsense have really seeped into the minds of even the rational fans that its inescapable to navigate f1 community.
Sheeple, he needs pole to win but the car is too unpredictable for him. He’a actually the fastest driver right now and as someone said you need to be scared of lando after a bad weekend, because he’s gonna catch you by surprise.

I had a good feeling all throughout the monaco weekend and then lando landed Monaco on pole.
Then I had an ominous feeling george was finally his win in canada this year and he landed it on pole.
I had a nightmare that oscar won Miami and he did.
My mind scares me…

The gap was there.
ā€œIf you no longer go for a gap that exists, you are no longer a racing driverā€ - Senna.
The timing of the move was off though. He could have waited.

Also it takes a LOT OF COURAGE AND STRENGTH to accept blame and apologise for making a mistake .001s after crashing. So I don’t wanna see you bitches saying he lacks the ā€œchampionship mentalityā€ when your favs are shading their teammates on interviews or posting half assed apologies acknowledgments for causing crashes.

As a lando fan this was a really difficult race to end with especially after miami and bahrain. If anyone has anything encouraging to say that would be appreciated 🫶

Personally I still think lando pushing so hard and taking more risks is a good thing. Yeah it didn’t work in miami or Canada but you can’t say he is not being ballsy this year.
I really really hope the lap 67 incident doesn’t make him back down from taking risks on track again. He seemed so regretful post race for making a move. I just want him to come back stronger and not more cautious or retreating.

Feeling like a fake fan because I want to duct tape lando’s mouth for apologising so much. It was a crash. It happens. Everyone makes mistakes. Its a part of racing. Until 67 lap he was brilliant.
But I understand lando wouldn’t be lando if he wasn’t so earnest and responsible. Its all different sides of the same coin stuff.
