Speaking as a survivor of child sex abuse: the world would be a lot better if yall spent less time talking about the ways in which pedophiles should be punished and more time supporting survivors and preventing abuse
I get it, punishment can feel cathartic. I’ve certainly spent time imagining all the ways in which my own abuser might be punished. But ultimately, him dying, or being jailed, or publicly shamed, isn’t actually going to help me nor will it stop more kids from getting hurt in the future.
I don’t want more prisoners. I want free therapy with trauma informed counselors. I want better sex education for young children that teaches them about consent and body autonomy. And I want a society in which I can openly discuss my trauma, or at least as openly as yall discuss the evils of pedophiles

oh, he’s named tenna for antenna, huh
tenna was an instant hit because of his shippability with so many other characters in pairings that just make So Much Sense:
spamton/tenna: iconic divorced couple. essentially canon. your huge tv/the popup notification on your phone. foreshadowed like crazy. sharing custody of a child but tenna doesn't recognise him, somehow. his little mailman.
queen/tenna: evil girlboss & pathetic malewife. old tech vs new tech. she's overbearing and he's needy. perfect codependence. she'd bully the hell out of him. both divorced once already. bound to start an electrical fire
mettaton/tenna: mettaton literally calls tenna his "awakening". i saw the tv glow if your tv was sentient. the young performer & his stage. something something tv taught me how to feel now real life has no appeal

and even then that tells you more about the construction of the sport than the athletes. are women losing because the events are tailored to taller people at the expense of shorter ones? to prioritize arm strength over balance? or because they haven’t had the opportunity to train for it? or because they aren’t competing against the same people? it’s possible to change all of these things to favor ~*women’s strengths*~ instead of ~*men’s strengths*~ or to be equally difficult for both because a bunch of the categories were created specifically to maintain the myth of gendered hierarchy.
“trans people in sports is such a complex issue” it really isn’t. make the sports skills-based instead of segregated by gender. “ohhh but so many people’s lives depend on their sports for scholarships” okay then let’s make university universally funded so people don’t have to worry about paying for it based on how well they can throw a ball. how are you not keeping up

this is mccoy erasure and i shall not stand for it
This is Captain Kirk of the USS Enterprise speaking. We’ve entered the orbit of a planet not terribly unlike our own… save that it is exclusively populated by petty old queens.

№ 997 | Hiro
Hiro jumps and just manages to catch the edge of the gutter. The aluminum crumples slightly, but holds. He can see the gremlin (or whatever it is) sneering at him across a canted expanse of shingles.
Roof's in great shape, he thinks, pulling himself up. The whole house, actually. Shame about the metaphysics.
He takes a cautious step. The sword is strapped to his back and he adjusts the angle slightly. Good old sword, useful in a lot of different situations. But let's be real here, also sort of a pain. There's a reason you don't see more of them around.
a story concerning Hiro.

this is a very very common form of movie musical song, and why so many of them are about professional singers and dancers, like don and cosmo are — you want people to burst into song and dance at the drop of a hat, you make your story about people who have filled themselves to bursting with singing and dancing. this was the way the astaire/rogers musicals worked, too: fred was usually a professional hoofer. it makes the movies in this mold, well, not necessarily more grounded than the sondheimesque musicals that are seen as the contemporary form now, but something closer to grounded.
recently, sinners did the same trick. there are a ton of musical numbers in the movie because it's a movie about musicians and dancers. all the numbers are happening diagetically for the characters, in a way that stage musicals seem to mostly eschew.

easiest way to check if your cast iron pan is up to temp is to flick some water on it. if it hisses, you're golden
Kinda horrified at all the people talking about using scratched up non-stick pans and not realising that Teflon and other coatings are so very carcinogenic. PFAS (carcinogenic forever chemicals) build up in your body like lead or mercury.

^ Don't fucking use this ^

I need young people and the older ones too apparently, to invest in at least one good thick based stainless steel pan. It's better for cooking and it won't give you cancer.
Stainless steel pan? You can scrub that shit with a steel scourer... If stuff won't come off? You can soak it in a laundry active oxygen cleaner for an hour or two and it will come right off, then rinse with clean water and you're golden. You want to whisk your eggs in the pan? Literally no downside, but in a non-stick pan you get CANCER flakes.

Your coworker sounds like a nightmare and some of the people who respond to you are unhinged. You have far more patience and self-control than me, someone who did actually make an anxious coworker cry by criticizing her (politely!) and not comforting her afterward. Fortunately/unfortunately that workplace was a nightmare of HR violations so I wasn’t punished for it. Sorry you have to deal with idiots!
I’m not, I’m delighted to see how much the basic tenets of feminism are still only just coming to light. the revelation that the nonconsensually feminized and deliberately feminizing are people is still so new, the information is still so threatening to order and society that it has the power to break minds.

i bought a cast iron skillet a few years back and i have to say i get why people get so damned weird about these things. it's a good pan, sure enough, but you have to take such specific care of it that it feels more like a pet than a utensil, eventually. i've been rubbing a little bit of olive oil or melted butter into this thing after every use for ages, baking it in the oven every spring. it cooks well, but it's the intent of the thing that renders it crazymaking. i've turned the damned thing into a lar
