A fandom fiction about Harry Potter's discovery that Snape is an undercover Death Eater. It takes place in the sixth Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Chapter 1 Ever since Harry had gotten the book with the Half-Blood Prince's notes in Potions, he had wondered to whom the worn and yellowed Potions book belonged. Even though Harry had asked Professor Slughorn, the professor had no idea who the book belonged to, except that his and Ron's copies were found in a cupboard in the corner of the Potions classroom, and seemed to have been stored there for a long time. Of course, Harry didn't tell Slughorn about the notes in the book, and Slughorn seemed to think that Harry really did have a talent for Potions.
“Harry, I can't believe you actually made the Draught of Living Death”, Ron said in amazement.
Harry just laughed, not wanting to tell Ron about the book, but couldn't resist Ron's questioning and mentioned the incredible method in the book.
“I knew it, you made a potion so easily that Hermione didn't even make.” Ron said.
Hermione was blushing at this point, not sure if she was remorseful that she hadn't made the potion or if she was envious of the Felix Felicis that Harry had been rewarded with by Slughorn.
“Well, I guess we have to go to Professor McGonagall's class.” Harry said. “No matter how weird this book is, it's still teaching us how to make potions properly, isn't it?”
For the next two weeks, Harry wondered who the Half-Blood Prince was. Harry asked several professors who were close to him about the name in an attempt to find out who the Half-Blood Prince really was, but none of the professors said they had ever heard of him.
“Harry, I really don't understand why you're asking about this man, is he someone important?” Hagrid replied in disbelief.
Without waiting for Harry to speak, Ron jumped in and said, “He's the owner of an old Potions textbook, and his views on Potions are more correct than in the Potions textbook! ”
“What the Half-Blood Prince says about potion making is almost exactly right, and Harry has made the requested potion in Professor Slughorn's class several times. “ Hermione chimed in.
“Really? But I don't know who this “Half-Blood Prince is. If you're really interested, I suggest you ask Headmaster Dumbledore. He might know who this is.” Hagrid said in surprise after hearing this.
“I think Hagrid has a point, maybe Dumbledore knows which student's book this is.” Ron said on his way back from visiting Hagrid.
“Maybe. “ Harry replied absently. He also hoped that Dumbledore would know the man's name, but given that a lot of people didn't really know the name, Harry wasn't confident enough.
The sixth year was taxing for Harry, the curriculum had been raised quite a bit in difficulty compared to the fifth year, which forced Harry to spend more time in the library studying.
“The Transfiguration essay that Professor McGonagall left was just too hard to complete.” Ron grumbled.
“That's because you didn't listen to the class properly, Ron.” Hermione said in a nonchalant manner.
Harry wasn't in the mood to listen to Ron's complaints either, and he was slow to put pen to paper on his own Transfiguration essay.
“Well, there's no telling what Snape will teach that he doesn't have in Defense Against the Dark Arts tomorrow.”
Snape didn't seem to be tormenting Harry as much this year as he had in previous years, every time he saw him he felt like he was in a hurry and always seemed to be busy.
“The half-blood prince can't be Snape, that prince is much smarter than Snape.” Harry thought to himself.
In Snape's class the next day, Snape explains and demonstrates the nonverbal spell to the students. Harry and Ron were put into groups to practice the spell and Harry managed to cast the spell a few times while Ron tried his wand a few times without success. However, this was better than Neville's reaction, who seemed to have mispronounced the spell using the silent incantation and set Dean, who was across from him, on fire with his eyebrows. The act drew laughter from several Slytherins, led by Malfoy.
“Quiet.” Snape said with a serious face and put out the fire on Dean's eyebrows.
Harry restrained himself from trying to laugh at the sight of Dean's burning eyebrows. Just then Harry suddenly noticed the notes Snape had written in class about the nonverbal spell, the script gave him a familiar feeling, as if he had seen those words somewhere before.
“Okay, that's it for today's class. Longbottom, go back and check to see if your wand breathes fire, don't realize your wand is a safety hazard until it's time to practice.” Snape said calmly.
Neville's face instantly went red and the Slytherin next to him laughed even louder.
Harry wasn't paying attention to what was going on in the classroom at this point and flew out of the room. His heart was very nervous until he opened the Potions textbook and looked at it with a serious expression for a few moments before closing it. He then walked towards the door without looking back. “What's wrong?” Ron asked when he saw Harry's perverse behavior.
“I should know who the Half-Blood Prince is, I have to go to the Headmaster's office. “ Harry blurted out, by now he had run out of the common room.
