Today a group of passionate #hemophilia supporters rode 105 miles (Dickerson, MD to D.C., then to D.C. to Harpers Ferry, WV) to raise funds and awareness to support the West Virginia #bleedingdisorders community through research for better treatments and a cure, educational programs, family support and advocacy. Announcing our $5,000 Platinum Scholarship Recipient: Justin Horbacz! Justin lives in Gainesville, FL and lives with severe hemophilia. He has raised $10,000 to help other youth affected by bleeding disorders attend hemophilia-focused summer camps, and has helped sponsor 30 children with #scholarships from 6 developing countries through “Save One Life.” He is attending the University of Florida to pursue a career as a pediatric hematologist. “Being challenged in life is inevitable. She was the first in her family to graduate from a four-year university, and is now pursuing a career as a family nurse practitioner. “I would like to run a health clinic in the rural districts of regions that my family grew up in. This week we are proud to announce the 2016 #FOSRxScholarship Recipients! First is our Silver Scholar: Lara Hilton of Athens, Georgia. She is a single mother of two living with #AutoimmuneDisease while pursuing a college education. She is intelligent, courageous, and extremely driven. Lara plans to become a registered nurse. "I want to specialize in women's health because I am especially interested in being a resource for young women thinking about their reproductive options." Congratulations Lara!
