//- BEGIN PLAYBACK: Sortie39.LOG1 -//
“Sparrow, chaff reserves are empty and the Everest is readying another volley. Begin evasive maneuvers.”
The automated copilot’s warning crackles over her earpiece mere seconds before the six Piranha missiles light up her radar. Madrigal —callsign Sparrow— tears the throttle into her knees as she pulls her mech into a hasty dive.
The first missiles flash past the cockpit, so close she can smell the cesium of their boosters, but the final two Piranhas have just enough time to adjust their course and slam into her mech’s back. Her dive becomes a crash —cockpit first— into the crumbling concrete below.
“GET ME UP DARRONI!” she screams at her digital copilot, who wordlessly responds by activating the machine’s automotors and jets, lurching the 22-foot mechanized chassis to its feet, then launching it into the low-gravity air above the old spaceport. Madrigal feels her haptic jacket buzz at the twin impacts, but two missiles aren’t enough to get through her reflex shielding.
“All systems functional Sparrow, but our munitions are reaching critical levels. I suggest disengaging to resupply…”
Darroni’s caution falls on deaf ears. Madrigal’s attention is fully fixed on the cockpit’s display. Her foe stands unmoving some 40 meters away, the mech heavily damaged, their missile racks empty, and the vents around its chassis blazing red hot.
They’re overheating, she realizes with a flash, sizing up the distance between her and the vulnerable mech. Then, Madrigal throws the throttle away from her, reengages her combat boosters, and goes for the kill.

Hi! I'm Joseph
longtime ttrpg GM, amateur writer, and obsessive personality
This blog is for my TTRPG worldbuilding, microfiction, lore dumps, and whatever else I end up doing. CW: violence, language, horror, sensitive topics
I talk about my game settings below the break, their respective themes, and systems!
Geras #Geras
A sleepy modern-day mountain town in NW British Columbia, where melting glacial ice releases antediluvian monsters. Townsfolk become hunters overnight, risking everything to protect their home.
Themes, folk/body/monster horror, cryptids, mythology
System: Monster of the Week
BD-143, The Bedlam System #BD-143
On the edge of the Sierra Madre line spins a burning backwater system abandoned by the Corpro states and weakened by ensuing warfare. The people who have survived have done so through grit and resourcefulness, eking out an existence on whatever the corporations left behind.
Themes, sci-fi, dystopia, mecha, body mod,
System: Lancer
Eyræus #Eyræus
A rugged fantasy world of untamed wilds and monstrous threats. The continent comprises nine regions, each home to diverse peoples, colourful cultures, and impending threats. Eyræus is a place of unbridled danger, but is also a place where heroes rise to the challenge.
Themes, high fantasy, romance, and a million others
Systems: 5e D&D, TSL, pf2e, Savage Worlds,
That's it, go read my stuff
