Happy 6th birthday to the very first character list sheet I ever made for this story!

Hands down the worst part about how long I've been writing is that the original outline for Acts 2 and 3 now have parts that make no sense. The best part is that by closing up the nonsensical bits, I've finally figured out how to clean up a few plot holes and tie things together much nicer.

Finally finished the first draft of Act 1! There's a lot of changes still to be made, but it's good to have some serious progress!

What a wild few years it's been. The bottom 2 are a year apart (2020 and 2021 respectively)!! The top one is from just this year.

This is Arachne Weaver, a fashion designer who gives local supers practical and beautiful uniforms. She also, through a perception ability, can tell a person's motivations, which is invaluable to those trying to keep their identities and families safe.

It keeps getting longer 🫠

The original length was supposed to be roughly 900 pages, give or take (about 25 pages per chapter, 11 chapters per act, with an additional 2 chapters in Act 3), then a shorter sequel. The good news is I can clip some from Act 3. The bad news is now I have an argument for another comic to bridge the gap between F2F and Mirror.

I don't think there's much left for it to increase beyond pacing once it gets to the art portion.

Dragonfly's first flight. She made the suit entirely herself, by hand. The suit doesn't change much by the start of the comic.

Inktober Day 5: Map

Finally, an excuse to nail down the map of Mercy. The town is located and based off of southwestern PA to be able to do some plot things.

Ivan Blackbourne and Jennifer Volkov. While only one will take part in the story for Mirror, I wanted to try and put a face to the names. Their two sons definitely make an appearance, and I wanted to be able to make more concrete decisions about designs.

These are two pigment extremes for Luupequircus generalis or quirci for short. Quirci are a genetically created species that appear in the story I'm writing.

A quircus's fur is photosynthetic and covers a large portion of their necessary nutrients. When an individual is albino, their fur lacks the ability to photosynthesize and registers this as a lack of fur, so overproduces. For a melanistic individual, their fur is much harder to grow.

Once Inktober is done, I'll be dedicating myself to actually getting this comic up and running. Of the three acts, I'll finish the writing and designs for the first before beginning. By the time I'm done with it, I should have act 2 done, and so on.
