Jane the Virgin portrays Latinos with a lot of respect. Just because we’re Latinos doesn’t mean we need to have hot pink houses and piñatas and shout things like, ‘Tacos! Fiestas!’ We’re a powerful Latino cast, the characters are humans and the show is written for a mainstream market.

As soon as coal spotted the other, he walked towards him, a grin on his features when he noticed a stranger taking his picture. Naturally, he immediately ran into the frame. “And one picture with me too please.” he called to the stranger, throwing a hand around Reese. “Hey Reese, long time.” he said casually as if he hadn’t come all the way to Huntsville to meet him, not that he would ever admit that aloud.

“Excuse me.” Reese chimed politely, waving a hand to the person across from him in a bid to get their attention. “Now this is going to sound really shallow, but…will you take a picture of me? The view behind me is just too perfect to pass up.”

With years of knowing her, Stefan was used to her dramatics but then again she couldn’t entirely blamed for this time. “I would offer to go but then I have to get the girls soon, and I’ll only have enough time in the meantime to find this date of yours and kick his ass.” he said only half joking.

“It’s a shame really. I mean, this never happens to me.” Teresa groaned before proceeding to sigh dramatically. “I had plans to attend a new theater production tonight just to have my date cancel on me at the last minute. So now I have an hour to find someone else to accompany me, or be forced to waste a ticket and go alone.”

“Have you really been up since 3 am?” Stefan asked, forehead creasing with slight worry before he shrugged and took the menu off her hands to look through. “And why won’t you be sleeping till later exactly? You sure you don’t have time for a short nap even?”

“What on the menu screams ‘I’ve been up since 3am and I’m going to be up all night’ to you?” Fridays were always the worst days for her - working her full-time job in the day and occasional gigs at night. No wonder she hadn’t released any new music in forever! “I’d choose but I don’t think my brain cell is rubbing together anymore.”

“You meet me at a bar and then look at the food menu? Really?” Shawn said, feigning shock, “This is downright insulting, Lu -- INSULTING!” Grabbing the menu from her, he dramatically threw it aside before waving at the bartender and making an order for them both. “Shots or nothing.” he grinned as they were both poured shots, picking up his glass. “Cheers?”

Beck was just about wit’s end even as he sent out the last of numerous texts he had sent to his ex-wife. He had been trying to book one of the tables at her restaurant to no avail, though even as he did so, he had heard of others doing so without nearly so much headache. He pushed through the door, assuring an employee that he was sure the owner wouldn’t mind his visit, only hesitating once he was actually in her office. “I want a table, Shreya. There’s no way that you’ve been booked for this long,” he told his ex as a way of hello. 

“We all want a lot of things Beck.” Shreya rolled her eyes and sighed deeply before she finally looked up from her papers. “Are you doubting my ability to run a successful business now?” she asked him before she leaned back against the chair and crossed her arms over her chest. “I am booked.” she reiterated, narrowing her eyes at him. Lies of course, but what is he going to know. “Give me one reason why you should get any kind of special preference?” she added, her tone dripping sarcasm.

Shoshi was excited to meet her daughter after so long, driving through the streets of Huntsville to find the place she now lived at. The whole looking for her father thing was not something Shoshi actively encouraged but she was aware how important it was to Pippa to find that dirtbag who knocked her up and bailed. So despite her personal feelings, and knowing nothing good could come out of finding the stupid man, on hearing that she has a lead, she left her job and came to the little town where her daughter resided as soon as she could. She stopped her car when she reached the address, knocking at the door and waiting for Pippa to open up, a bright smile resting on her features. @sliceofsky​
