Made by hands: SONIAH floor lamp is sculpted with an ancient design technique, similar to one our ancestors used for a traditional Ukrainian dwelling. A sustainable blend of clay, hay, wooden chips, and recycled paper is put on a recycled metal frame, creating a living pattern — each time different. During Summer Solstice, a time of natural renewal — we'll reveal new collection of furniture and decor PLYN. In Ukrainian PLYN means 'flow'. Inspired by the Water Element, the upcoming collection manifests fluidity and acceptance. Today's world requires flexibility from us. Similar to water — which can take different forms without losing its true essence — we have to stay genuine to ourselves and accept a raging life flow. This message Victoria Yakusha @yakushavictory, author of the new collection, carries through the design. The official exhibition will take place in Paris, 203 rue Saint-Martin on 19-21 June. We invite all the friends to discover FAINA live design world. (at Rue Saint-Martin) https://www.instagram.com/p/CP-3997pL9a/?utm_medium=tumblr

Circular motifs of the SONIAH sconce are derived from the ancient beliefs of Ukrainians. From early times our ancestors built their lives around the solar cycles and lived in harmony with nature. In SONIAH, we are going back to the basics and pass the century-old story on. (at FAINA) https://www.instagram.com/p/CP8W06rlcVU/?utm_medium=tumblr

“Feelings, sensuality, sensations play a key role for me. FAINA objects are alive, our philosophy is built around this. Today people surround themselves with many things, and everything is probably fine with them. But in this flow, we lose a connection with ourselves, our ability to feel. I love doing things that would change, make better, bring uniqueness to our lives. I love that there's a kind of imperfection in this. At FAINA and Yakusha we do not make a cult of perfection. But believe in alive and real — live design.” Read the full Yakusha Victoriya @yakushavictory interview at @pragmatika.media. DOMNA, a playful armchair that is meant to become the cosiest design piece at home.
As an inspiration for this piece, Victoria Yakusha took a shape of ancient goddess sculptures, found by archaeologists on the territory of modern Ukraine from a period by Trypillia culture. These female-shaped figures served as talismans and patroness of family and farming. Armchair DOMNA by FAINA repeats these mild feminine forms and carries an extraordinary warm and cloud-like softness. Name “Domna” in Ukrainian also means a stove or ancient female name, a priestess.
“FAINA collection is my artistic manifest, a celebration of Ukrainian modern female design with a strong connection to cultural roots. I am trying to create long-living design pieces with soul, that will become "family members" for the people.” – comments Victoria Yakusha.

FAINA is imbued with the power of ancient Ukrainian symbols. They give us a foundation on which new meanings later emerge — design objects that are close and necessary for modern times. We don’t need to look around for inspiration — we look inside ourselves in search of the important, written in the cultural code of our people. Love and respect for nature, the worship of the earth and its fruits, the spiritualization of all the things, living or inanimate.
Nature is minimalistic. Over the course of the centuries, we have learned that nature has no equal in the art of creation and destruction. No entropy: every thing has its why, every thing in its place. This is living minimalism and FAINA upholds to it. Design is a feeling. You never fake the feeling.
