We cannot merely pray to you, O God, to end war; For we know that You have made the world in a way That man must find his own path to peace. Within himself and with his neighbor.
We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to end starvation; For You have already given us the resources With which to feed the entire world, If we would only use them wisely.
We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to root out prejudice; For You have already given us eyes With which to see the good in all men, If we would only use them rightly.
We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to end despair, For You have already given us the power To clear away slums and to give hope, If we would only use our power justly.
We cannot merely pray to You, O God, to end disease; For You have already given us great minds With which to search out cures and healing, If we would only use them constructively.
Therefore we pray to You instead, O God, For strength, determination and will power, To do instead of just pray, To become instead of merely to wish.
—Rabbi Jack Riemer, A Sabbath Prayer

I'm gonna put it as simply and blatantly as possible.
Tumblr media
Russia in 2022 attacked another Eurovision participant and made a whole bunch of other contestant countries scared of being attacked next, after already having attacked a fellow competitor in 2008 -> Russia got banned from Eurovision
Ukraine in 2022 got attacked, had its civilians targeted intentionally, did not choose to start the war, has no record of past attacks against ESC contestants, and is not currently posing a threat to any other Eurovision participating country -> Ukraine did not get banned
Israel in 2023 got attacked, had its civilians targeted intentionally, did not choose to start the war, has no record of past attacks against ESC contestants, and is not currently posing a threat to any other Eurovision participating country -> Israel did not get banned
There isn't a double standard, except for people who insist on not following the geopolitical logic. Same ones who didn't use Ukraine's retaliation activities against Russia as justification to get Ukraine banned, but are doing that to Israel, usually with a side dish of false, hyperbolic accusations that have nothing to do with reality.
Also...
The only flags allowed are of participating countries and the pride flag. The American flag is therefore banned. The Mexican flag. The Japanese, the Korean, the Nigerian flags. The world doesn't actually revolve around Palestinians, they're not actually the ultimate victims, and honestly, it's offensive they're cast that way when there are conflicts far worse and bloodier than the current war in Gaza, not to mention it takes away attention and help from them, to make everything constantly about the Palestinians.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, this is supposed to be the rule. Outside the performance hall, but within the borders of the Eurovision village, a visiting Israeli comedian called Guy Hochman was assaulted for walking around with the Israeli flag. Swedish police intervened, but they didn't act against the anti-Israel protesters who attacked and spat on Guy, they stopped him from openly carrying the Israeli flag. He asked why are they not allowing it, even though the flag is of a participating country, in accordance with the rules. He was told it's too dangerous. He then asked why are Palestinian flags not being removed, if they're banned according to contest rules, and was told that in Sweden, freedom of speech is above anything else. He was also grilled about whether he's Jewish by the Swedish policemen. Why was his flag denied, then? Why was his freedom of speech not protected, why was his Jewish identity a matter for questioning?
Another thing, the Swedish singer who ended up in third place in 2011 Eric Khaled Saade went on a childish rant crying over the Palestinian flag being banned (again, as if it's the only one), and as he was invited to perform this year, he got on stage live with a kaffiyeh tied to his left hand, even though he knew that was considered political, and therefore not allowed. Once more, he whined about it as if this is specifically against Palestinians, but you know what? The dress designers wanted to have a Star of David on the dress of the Israeli singer. She's a Jewish woman, that's a Jewish symbol, so why not represent her identity? But they were told that's "political." And you know what the Israeli delegation did? Followed the rules. You won't see the Star of David on Eden's dress. When they were told not to wear the hostage pin, because that's "political"? They followed the rules. When the Israeli song writers were told that their song, expressing Israeli pain, is "too political," what did they do? Followed the rules, they changed the lyrics. And you don't hear them crying about it all over social media and the news.
Not to mention, Eric Saade had no problem kissing the ass of Israeli fans back in 2011, when he competed and needed their votes. Was his dad less Palestinian back then? By the way, Israeli fans didn't hold his identity against him, they didn't demand he be questioned about Palestinian terrorists, or what his stance is on Hamas, they didn't drag politics into it, they focused on music and culture connecting people across borders and identities (as the ESC is supposed to do), and Israel gave its 12 points in both the semi and the final to Eric Saade that year. How did he repay those fans? Campaigning to ban Israel (and therefore them) from the contest, because he's incapable of seeing them as people first, and political rivals second, or maybe even (God forbid!) not at all...
It all smells like hypocrisy to me. But we all know this post won't get anywhere near the exposure (through likes and reblogs) that the lying, self-centered, hypocritical anti-Israel posts do. Doesn't matter. I'll still be here, speaking the truth.

Current mood as an anti Russia Russian jew:
- Watching western college kids spout the same propaganda you heard on channel one growing up
- Hearing chants of "Death to America" and seeing the destruction of the American flag and whispering "of course" to yourself because you know exactly where this rhetoric came from and who sponsored it
- Watching the world waste its time on a democratic country fighting back against terrorists instead of paying attention to the real evil in the world like Russia, Iran, or China, because... antisemitism is more entertaining and you guys haven't been allowed to kill jews in a while I guess
- Being frustrated by the protests because nobody exerted this much energy on Ukraine and everybody has already forgotten about Ukraine and it's so painfully obvious that you all just hate jews
- Remembering the time you sat in class and had to listen to your professor say shit like "America is the greatest evil", and "America is committing modern day colonialism through globalization and global market" and then comparing that rhetoric to that of the brainwashed western college kids'
- Being terrified of the upcoming 9th of May because you have no idea what kind of shit your country will pull on the 9th of May
- Being very familiar with Islamic fundamentalism because you live near Chechnya and for as long as you remember you have been witnessing the murder of human rights' activists, attacks on lawyers, and young women and girls trying to escape families who promised to honor kill them, mutilated them or poisoned them with medicine - some successfully crossing the border to Georgia but many more being dragged back to Chechnya from where they were hiding in Moscow and St Petersburg to their deaths
- And then watching the west pretend that there is no extremism or problems because then you will be called a bunch of names and obviously that's very scary 👍
- Realizing you have nowhere to run because the west has been thoroughly infiltrated and is digging itself a grave and hasn't stopped doing so for 8 months now
- Losing friends because they either fell for the propaganda and don't see the danger you see so clearly, or they are too cowardly to call out the mob and lose followers on social media. Even though losing followers will be the least of your fucking problems when you lose your democracy and freedoms
- Being furious 24/7 because more sane people aren't standing up, again afraid of the mob and losing their social media status
- Honestly just expecting to be bombed by now

Tumblr media
can you IMAGINE coming to AUCHWITZ of all places wearing mock yellow stars and doing this shit, while simultaneously claiming "its not about Jews sweaty, its about (((Israel))) :^)))))"??? I can only guess these girls are Polish which unfortunately means the apple didnt fall very far from the pogrom tree on which their grandparents hung their Jewish neighbors after the end of WW2

I think one of the ways we (leftists) got ourselves in this dipshit, antisemitic, cult-like political climate is by jerking off so much about being radical.
Let this radicalize you! Let this radicalize you. What radicalized me was. How can they not expect us to be radicalized by this? Let this radicalize you. Let this radicalize you.
As if it's some fucking virtue! As if there's inherent value in simply being radical. Being extreme in your response to conditions is not inherently valuable. What is your response to the conditions? That's where the value lives. It's not in how far you are away from the status quo its literally just how good, how feasible, how pragmatic, how compassionate your ideas are.
I think what we're seeing now with the anti-Israel + new antisemitic movement among the left is (among many other things) the culmination of this very exaltation of radicalism. None of these folks had good, feasible, pragmatic, or compassionate ideas. They really were just motivated by wanting something to be VERY DIFFERENT from how things are now. And that's honestly fucking meaningless. It's never something we should've put stock in.
Don't let anything radicalize you as its primary value. Don't ever let your distance from the status quo be your whole ideology. You need to actually have values and principles and morals and things that are close to your heart. You need to HAVE a heart. You can't just be a political husk filled with anger who gets off on stirring controversy.
We should never have let it get this bad.

you’re not even american??, you’re an immigrant to palestine living in the illegitimate regime of the israeli occupation…
first of all, I'd hardly call myself an immigrant considering my family has been here for 7 generations, long before the "illegitimate regime" had been established. second of all, where do americans live again?

I find it amusing (it's not really) that if someone speaks up for Israel and sites actual facts, they are attacked by the anti-Israel crowd to "Read a book" or "Learn history", when they themselves have most likely not done that and simply depend on the statements, opinions and articles others have written on the internet and social media.
I have read books. I've read things that aren't on the internet. Because as much as there is on the internet, it does not actually have all the written words.
Read stuff written before the internet. From both sides. If you seriously want to know the facts or things about a conflict or issue, don't depend on the internet (and certainly NOT Wikipedia articles) or jeezus, TikTok, Instagram or even Tumblr.
Unfortunately, too many people start 'shouting' at others with their version of facts (that aren't facts and are in fact, lies) and bully others into believing them as truth.
Reality? We all have our perspectives. We have our cognitive dissonance. We have our biases based on who we are, where we are and what we were first exposed to. I have mine and I work hard to fight them to try and see things...
But for all that is good and green... Read books... Read books written by people before the internet. Read books written before 1948. Read books before 1972. Read books with biased opinions from both sides. Stop, depending on the internet for truth.
