OUR IDOL, PAUL HORNER, DOES IT AGAIN!
This is the case of a web article headlined "Donald Trump Protester Speaks Out: 'I Was Paid $3,500 To Protest Trump's Rally,' ", posted on November 17 by Paul Horner, a man who creates fake news and post them on a variety of websites (and a role model for us). Some of his posts go viral, as this one that we have mentioned. We wanted to add the link, but we can’t because the new has been deleted.
The information seemed to be true because the author recreated the design of the ABC News website and credited the link to the newspapre, including the abbreviation “(AP)”, imitating the Associated Press’ way of marking it stories (what a genius!). What made it seem false was the fact that it was baseless, he just invented the testimony of hypothetical Trump supporters and pretended to acquire credibility by quoting it. It looks like other examples of fake information, especially in the intentionality: Horner writes these articles in an humoristic tone, as a lot of people do, so the way they are written is very similar. Their work is to imitate the structure of a formal article, using specific vocabulary for the theme they are talking about and filling the important facts with their invented information (sound familiar?). We don’t think that this is morally incorrect since this was made with comedic purposes and you can easily recognize that it is not a real article as soon as you realize there are no sources or reliable information. The fact that people believed that has nothing to do with the author’s intentions. Personally, in this example we think that Paul Horner did a great job: the design looks like the original and the writing has the correct tone and expressions, so we wouldn’t have done anything different to make it better.
We hope Paul reconsiders the offer to join us and soon becomes a member of our little but mighty community.

FOOTBALL DRAMA
The tweet had a lot of implications and it was spread via twitter. Five days before Infobae, an argentine digital journal, released a news about the life of Luka Modrić. https://www.infobae.com/deportes-2/mundial-2018/2018/06/20/de-refugiado-a-representante-del-buen-futbol-la-vida-de-luka-modric-atravesada-por-la-guerra/ information in which the tweet is based. However, the user of this tweet it is not an expert on this field so the source is not reliable. Only one day later, this information was refuted by Vicente Azpitarte the author of Luka Modrić: El hijo de la guerra.
We are aware of the amount of information we have access to and it is our responsibility to contrast our sources. One of our main purposes is to exaggerate our premises and this is a very good example. Furthermore, this exaggeration of reality has a lot of meaning, it makes you feel empathy and it makes you a better person.
Although, we would have put references to support this if we had spread this information. Also, being part of the Fake Today Journal, a reliable source of information, would have been easier.

E!NEWS KEIRA KNIGHTLY BLASPHEMY!
This game-changing article posted by E!News in the beginnings of october, tried to break down the myth of “feminist icon” that Keira Knightley had built for herself by misleading the public into believing that she was angry at Kate Middleton’s public postpartum appearance and behavior following the birth of Princess Charlotte, in a letter she wrote to her and James Righton's daughter, Edie, 3, which is featured in Scarlett Curtis' new book Feminists Don't Wear Pink (And Other Lies). Knightley's letter, entitled "The Weaker Sex," Nonetheless this was quickly shut down by Keira Knightley herself by explaining that she was criticizing the royal customs and not the Middleton’s behaviour.
People were eager to believe this news, mainly because the original article used the letter she wrote for her daughter as a reference, and instead of checking the source, the information simply started spreading (which is exactly what us here at Fake Today encourage you to do!). Yet once the interview in which she denied having ever referred to this leaked, people quickly reconsidered and the scandal died down.
It is not strange to see this happen with celebrities, fake news about them come up everyday (be sure to check out our culture section!), similar to this is the case of Celine Dion’s “I can’t even look at an american flag anymore, I hate this country so much”, in 2017. The rumor originated on a clickbait website in September 2017, according to Snopes. The story doesn’t support the headline. Instead, it talks about how Dion turned down an offer to sing at President Donald Trump’s inauguration. In January 2017, news outlets such as TMZ reported that Dion passed up the opportunity, but not because she hates America.
Our little team here at Fake Today, considers the decision to make this article morally incorrect, because not only because of the demonization it conveys, but it also becomes a personal attack towards the actress which. But also because we’re in 2018 and villainizing women for being feminist is very old fashioned.
We would’ve improved this by not making the article seem like a personal attack on the actress, and providing our loyal readers with a more subtle tone so that Keira hadn’t felt the need to defend herself from it.
