i'm gonna write multiple reviews in one post cus my reviews wont be that long, so making multiple posts for multiple reviews just seems too much. anyway, these are the 3 thea sisters books i read most recently.

this post contains reviews for the dancing shadows, the secret city and the secret of the old castle.

the dancing shadows: from what i remember, this is one of the better ones out of the bunch i read as a kid. i had a phase then where i was obsessed with ballet, so i guess that love contributed to my love of this book. carlotta is a star!! also, violet really said i'm gay so i don't care if two guys fight over me. iconic. pyotr was kinda fine tho 🤭 rereading it now, i noticed i don't really care for the antagonists and stuff but i did really like the story as a whole. 4 out of 5 stars for me!

the secret city: i guess it didn't have the nostalgia that it would've had if i'd read this when i was younger, but overall this was kinda disappointing 😭 i found it mostly boring,,, maybe i just didn't care about the setting and characters they introduced that much. i'm sorry for saying that about your home country paulina, you're still my girl 😔 i feel like if they'd touched upon the disappearance of paulina's parents that would be more interesting. it also felt anticlimactic and the antagonist was apprehended too easily... yeah i know im not exactly the target demographic, but this just wasn't a fav. 2.5/5

the secret of the old castle: last week i had the choice of buying 2 thea stilton books i haven't read yet, and this was the one i knew i wanted to get -- and unlike the secret city, it definitely didn't disappoint! an old castle, family feuds and a missing will, what's not to love? it had the same vibes as knives out, one of my favourite films ever. the romance subplot was cute, and i just knew that another twist would be coming at the end lol. i just wish they'd utilised the other macnamouse family members more, just to add a little more drama. what's funny though is that no one in the family could decipher that song for generations but 5 random college students could do it in a day LMFAOAOAOA but nothing else to add, just a standard good story in the series! 3.5/5

i've made it my mission to collect and read all the books in the thea sisters series, and then review them!

i remember genuinely liking the stories of multiple books in this series, and when i found out they had released a story set in malaysia, i was excited. then it spurred a desire in me to continue reading the series that was so popular among the girls during middle school. i've already bought 2 books recently and just finished them, and i wanted somewhere to document my reviews of it so here we go! some info under the cut for me to keep track of everything.

these are the ones i read as a child:

the dragon's code (book 1)

the ghost of the shipwreck (book 3)

the mystery in paris (book 5)

big trouble in the big apple (book 8)

the mystery on the orient express (book 13)

the dancing shadows (book 14)

the legend of the fire flowers (book 15)

the spanish dance mission (book 16)

it's a bit blurry to me if i've read the cherry blossom adventure and the prince's emerald before, but since i don't remember the stories, i won't include them.

as of 23/10/2024, these are the ones i've read as i'm older:

the hollywood hoax (book 23)

i'll eventually make a full list of all of them but i just wanted to see my full thought process physically before i fully review any of them sjhsjjs. also,,, my reviews won't be too long and not super serious jsyk. i won't be reading them chronologically, because the series doesn't really require you to do that (from what i remember !! this might change if i'm wrong LMAO) and also i'll just read what interests me first SJHSJFD okay lets go

To me, songs are kind of like bookmarks. Have you ever listened to a song that you haven’t heard in a while, and all of a sudden, all the memories of that time period come back, and you remember what your life used to be like. They’re like milestones in your life.
