This blog had to come out of semi-retirement to post about Christian replacing Andrew in Tammy Faye. There was no way I could let that pass without noting it.

Andrew said on the Tonys red carpet he would be cheering on Katie Brayben. Hopefully he will be cheering on Christian as well. Dare I hope for the TKF making an appearance on opening night?

In Andrew’s new book, Uncle of the Year, there is a chapter in which Andrew writes about theatre and being a part of a character’s legacy. He shares this wonderful Falsettos anecdote:

I often think of something that Stephen Bogardus, the original Whizzer in “Falsettos,” said to me at the opening night of the show’s revival in 2016. He pulled me aside at the party afterward and said, “I am really happy to see Whizzer on Broadway again. I am happy you get to know him, too.” It was extremely generous of him to say that, especially considering I grew up listening to Stephen sing that score and I had his voice in my head every night onstage. He also knew that these great roles were meant to be shared.

If you haven’t read “Uncle of the Year” or Andrew first memoir, “Too Much Is Not Enough,” I highly recommend both. He is a wonderful writer.
