Random! Cartoons was our fourth big idea cartoon showcase, and our second for Nickelodeon. Originally begun as Oh Yeah! Cartoons, Season 4, it was renamed by Nickelodeon executive Margie Cohn, after the Nick legal team raised some arcane objections.
Do I have to tell you that Random! spun off three amazing cartoon series? All developed and produced by Eric Homan and Kevin Kolde.
The logo was designed by Michael Lapinski and inspired by Darron Moore in a contest we ran in 2006 that was sadly controversial.
…..
From the postcard back: Congratulations! You are one of 200 people to receive this limited edition Frederator postcard! www.frederator.com Over the past twenty years I’ve been involved with a lot of cartoon series, with some just at the seed stages, on others over the course of entire runs and beyond. In every case, though, I’ve considered myself gratified and thankful to be traveling in the cartoon cosmos. –Fred Seibert

"Precious Pig" Title Card
Tumblr media
It’s the Throwback Thursday, and we’re throwing back nearly five years for this Fanboy and Chum Chum title card by the show’s art director, Chad Woods. At that time we were under a Nickelodeon directive to make the art compatible not only for widescreen but also for a 4:3 aspect ratio, kind of at odds to each other.

Behind the Scenes with Zombie Brothers
Well, it stinks we had nothing to do with our old pal Eric Robles’s latest cartoon project, “Zombie Brothers.” But that’s not going to stop us from presenting this behind-the-scenes video he made with the incredible talents at Screen Novelties. You can watch “Zombie Brothers” now on the new Nick App. It’s pretty terrific, so make sure you give Eric a big thumbs up next time you see him.

Bid on These Posters, Give Help to a Family That Needs It
Ginger and animator Joey Adams sure could use our help. Their toddler, Ian, has been diagnosed with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (read how terrible the disease is). What's worse, Ian's twin brother, Henry, may have the illness, too. Tragically, Ginger and Joey lost their 16-month-old daughter, Gwen, back in 2009 from what also could have been HLH. You can read more about the history of the family's health troubles at SupportTheAdams.com.
The only cure for HLH is a successful bone marrow transplant.
What's heartening is the animation community is rallying to help out the family with its medical expenses by auctioning off donated one-of-a-kind artwork. Fanboy creator Eric Robles is offering this pair of Fanboy and Chum Chum posters, signed, that have been hanging in his Nickelodeon office the past few years. If you're interested in either, please consider heading to the eBay pages for each and placing a bid. Also, there's a good chance you can find something else that'll rock your cartoon world in this online auction.
Of course, you don't need to buy anything to help out Joey, Ginger, Ian, and Henry. You can find a PayPal link on SupportTheAdams.com.
Thanks, everyone (and an extra thanks to those of you reblogging). Please keep the Adams in your thoughts.

It's not everyday there's an Emmy in your hand. At least, in *my* hand. And next to the guy who really deserves it! What a great Christmas present.

Congratulations, Eric
So not only does his show get nominated for an Annie Award in the Best Animated Television Production - Children category, but Eric Robles is one of eight artists vying for the TV character designer trophy for his work on the episode "Brain Freeze." Here's his nominated artwork of Boog, Kyle, the Ice Monster, and Professor Flan. Eric, we'll vote for you as many times as we're allowed (and then some).
The Annies are handed out on February 4 at UCLA.

Anonymous storyboard artist on Fanboy & Chum Chum? Who could that be??
Tumblr media
AMA of the Day: An anonymous (at the time of writing) storyboard artist for Nickelodeon’s Fanboy and Chum Chum is in the process of doing one of the most amazing Reddit AMAs ever.
They have agreed to draw anything the twisted minds of Redditors can come up with — an the minds of Redditors are pretty twisted.
Some of the best so far: Beavis and Butthead as Ren and Stimpy; Spongebob as the Me Gusta guy; a Sterling Archer/James Bond shootout; Lindsay Lohan being punched in the face by a belligerent monkey; and, above, the childhood terminating response to the question “how does catdog poop?”

Fanboy & Chum Chum Haunted House
Ask anyone who's worked at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio in Burbank what his favorite employee perk is, there's a good chance he'll say the company's annual Halloween bash. It's when each production competes to see whose crew can come up with the scariest, creepiest, or funniest haunted house. Fanboy crewmember Andrew Golden took this footage on a walk through of this year's particularly cool Fanboy & Chum Chum-themed haunted house, complete with Mr. Trick's Hollowgram.

New Time for "There Will Be Shrieks"
If there's one thing we've learned by now about a lot of Nickelodeon cartoons, despite whatever you hear or read, new episodes pretty much premiere when they premiere. Case in point, the half-hour Fanboy & Chum Chum Halloween episode promoted and scheduled for tomorrow, "There Will Be Shrieks," has just been moved to 8:00 a.m. this Sunday morning to accommodate a true rarity in Nickelodeon programming, a SpongeBob rerun. So set your alarm clocks or, better yet, just break out the coffee and stay up all Saturday night!
