Update: I finished it and was appropriately devastated, thanks.
Oh my god I just realised I finally have to finish the Throne of Glass series because the Maas Cinematic Universe is definitely going to tie it in

I’m annoyed that the third crescent city book got leaked for several reasons, but mostly because I’m rereading the first two books and desperately want to look at fanarts and theories and commentaries on those books, but I’ll be so disappointed if I get a spoiler for the next book so I’m just avoiding it. Like, it’s one thing to spoil a book series for yourself by engaging with fandom before you’ve finished the series, but having to avoid spoilers for a book that’s not even out yet… just a bit of a bummer really.

Anyone else think it’s curious how Bryce’s dad is the autumn king and he has fire power and traits we associate with the autumn court, yet the fae areas in crescent city are always described as being covered in flowers, e.g., “the Fae archives, the building covered in drooping veils of flowers that ran down its many columns. Roses, jasmine, wisteria - all in perpetual bloom, no matter the season.”
That’s spring court shit. What’s going on there? Are the other fae kings in other cities in this world kings of different seasons?

Ok so I’m doing my hosab reread, and a new tiny thing stuck out to me. There’s a moment where Hunt is on a job for Micah, and the target is begging for his life, saying ‘please’ and hunt notes that it’s always the same word, the same begging, though it never makes a difference. Then just a few chapters later, Bryce and hunt bump into Sabine who mouths off, and hunt wants to defend Bryce but she just looks at him and says ‘please’, gently, asking him to leave it. And he does. And I know the situations are different and blah blah but I think the fact that she’s asking hunt, not the umbra mortis, makes a difference. And the fact that he wants to defend her and yet yields when she asks him not to is important to Bryce. She hates the overprotective alpha types, she can take care of herself thank you. So if she wanted to defend herself against Sabine, she would. Idk the whole thing is sweet.

I have reached the ‘alpha holes’ spiel in crescent city and I feel like this is the author equivalent of tagging yourself in a meme before anyone else can because you just know someone is going to be like ‘this you?’ And Sarah is saying ‘ok, I have been known to write characters that perhaps vaguely match this description. But in my defence… it’s hot.’

Re-reading acosf in preparation for cc3 (so exciteddddd) and so many thoughts are occuring.
Vassa is a firebird, or is cursed to be one part time. I wonder if there’s any relationship with the thunderbirds that exist in cc, but since I don’t think we know much about either it’s hard to do more than wonder.
I’m currently at the part where Nesta first encounters the darkness as the bottom of the library (not bryaxis who is still missing) and she describes it as “the womb from which all life had come and would return”, which sounds kind of like the cauldron and the wyrdstones to me. Gwyn also senses it, saying she can feel something “like a cat. Small and clever and curious”. Idk why but it reminded me of the baast cats from tower of dawn that live in the library of the Torre cesme. In that book it says some healers swore the baast cats could “step through pools of shadow and appear on another level of the library”. I wonder if there’s some places where the barrier between worlds is more thin, in the deep places of the earth, where they might connect with each other. I know there’s a theory that the dual court and the prison island are a portal, but I wonder if there’s several doorways scattered around the place.

Thinking about that theory that Lorcan has been to Prythian before because he describes a city like Velaris that he can’t quite remember the name of. I’m re reading acomaf and this bit is just before starfall

Do we ever find out who this tall male cloaked in darkness is? Could it be our boy Lorcan? Is he already friends with Cassian and Azriel? She could easily have just said that Cassian went off to greet Azriel and some other warriors, but she specifically described this person without giving any details. Who is this tall dude??

reblog if you’ve read fanfictions that are more professional, better written than some actual novels. I’m trying to see something

I love how majority of the SJM fandom is in complete agreement that Aelin is the It girl of all of her series🔥
(If you don’t think so then your opinion doesn't matter🤗)
Even her titles are the best:
Adarlan's Assassin
The King's Champion
Witch Slayer
Heir of Fire
Fireheart
Fire-breathing bitch-queen
The Queen of Flame and Shadow
The Queen Who Was Promised
The Queen Who Walked Between Worlds
The Gods Killer
The Faerie Queen of the West
