The first doctor is a massive movie snob also. He's into like silent movies & sweeping historical epics. He does usually come to movie nights tho bcos in addition to secretly liking the company he also loves to be a complainer. He sits in a corner and harrumphs and calls everyone else's picks 'infantile nonsense' and has a great time doing it.

there are several strong contenders for best sapphire & steel assignment but i think my personal favourite might be 4 just because of how uniquely unsettling i find it. what do you mean he's in every photograph ever produced. what do you mean she can't have her picture taken ever again???
#that one cliffhanger that's just ruth shrieking as the shape burns the photo she's trapped in??#anyway how do we think liz is doing in our era of digital photography and ubiquitous cameras#sapphire & steel#sapphire and steel

'every journey we've made' so i guess the implication is there are some stories in between a thousand tiny wings and survival of the fittest? i guess they want to have wiggle room but man i find that a bit of a bummer personally, that we're apparently not seeing the entirety of the arc

that being said, it does imply that he was lying about the overpopulation thing and the need for ‘living space’ as a justification for his vile actions so that tracks i guess
hm...not sure how i feel making stefan’s motive profit rather than nationalism, which feels like it would be more relevant thematically to klein’s situation

oh klein's perfectly happy to identify the geopolice as fascists but not the people actually attempting a genocide!
#further proof that she's keen to draw a line between Good And Reasonable And Ordered Fascism and race hate#even though there isn't one!#busing through big finish doctor who

klein doing the surprised pikachu face when she hears stefan insist that they’re the master race and this justifies their murder of the indigenous species even though she’s already used nazi terminology to refer to them...
klein is soooo pissed off about these humans waltzing in and murdering a culture they assume is inferior to them like girl...they’re LITERALLY you
#i think the thing with klein is she’s smart but she also has an investment in an ideology of order#so she has this cognitive dissonance where the more unsavoury parts of her own ideology are either justified as a way to impose order#or not representative of nazis as a whole (mengele)#because if she admitted to herself that it was just plain unvarnished hatred as a driving force she’d have to admit that it’s not reasoned#it’s not intellectual#it’s just murder and she wouldn’t be able to reason herself out of that#busing through big finish doctor who
