A Question Surrounding Each NFL Team Before the 2019-2020 Season

There are so many things going on around the NFL these days, and with the media going at everything more than ever, there is so much more to think about. Here are the biggest questions that we have uncovered for each team in the league heading into this season.

Oakland Raiders

Will  this team full of random names and characters that got thrown together in one off-season be able to put together a multitude of wins? The Raiders went out this off-season and made move after move, obtaining players like Antonio Brown, Vontaze Burfict, Richie Incognito, and so many more. With this cast of random players and personalities, it begs the question of if it will blow up in their faces, or if it will all come together like last year's Rams team.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers Can Bruce Arians turn Jameis Winston into the QB that he was always supposed to be? Ever since winning the Heisman Trophy, and being selected number 1 overall, Jameis Winston was supposed to be the next great QB in the NFL. He's had flashes in his career, and made us believe he was the great talent we thought he was, but he's also looked clueless at times, and has not been able to win games and make it to the postseason. Winston has also never had a great coach to help lead him to this success, so it leaves us to wonder if Bruce Arians can be that guy.

Seattle Seahawks Can Russell Wilson make all of that money worth it for the Seahawks? The Seahawks made Russell Wilson the highest paid man to ever play in the NFL, and as we have seen in the past, teams that give a huge chunk of their salary cap to their signal caller never see it turn into winning seasons. Aaron Rodgers, Matt Ryan, and Ben Roethlisberger haven't been able to take their teams where they need to be since they got big money, but meanwhile Tom Brady is in the bottom half of the league in QB salaries and he wins year after year. Will Wilson follow in the path of the other high paid guys, or prove that he's an exception?

Miami Dolphins Who is going to start at QB this year? This one is pretty simple. They traded away Ryan Tannehill, then signed Ryan Fitzpatrick and aquired Josh Rosen from Arizona. Fitzpatrick, or FitzMAGIC, has proven he can be very solid in this league, but can also go anywhere from exceptionally good to exceptionally bad. Josh Rosen was a top 10 pick just a year ago, and has loads of talent. He had to suffer though a season with the worst team in football, making him look worse than he actually may be. Now we just have to wait and see who prevails as Miami's lead man. 

New York Giants Will we be seeing Daniel Jones during the regular season this year? The Giants used their 6th overall pick in this year's draft to take their guy, Duke QB Daniel Jones, who most thought was not worthy of the 6th pick. Even though he was taken so early, everyone in the Giants organization insists on the fact that Eli will still be their starter for years to come before Jones even sees the field. With a team that seems like it could have a losing season, you would think that the fans are going to be begging to see their rookie in action. Will the fans make it happen?

San Francisco 49ers Will Jimmy G finally prove he's the top tier QB he is payed to be and make the 49ers a winning football team? Jimmy Garoppolo showed up on the scene in San Fransisco and went undefeated at the very end of the season two years ago. The 49ers then decided right away he was their guy and made it official with a huge contract. After a solid offseason, San Fransisco was supposed to be a good football team, but they came out of the gates a bit shaky , and just a few weeks in Jimmy tore his ACL. Now the questions swirl around about whether or not he is going to be worth the money, so now it is time for him to answer them.

Cincinnati Bengals Was firing Marvin Lewis a good idea for this team, or was he not the issue? After so many years of being the coach of the Bengals, Marvin Lewis had virtually no success in the playoffs, leading to his end in Cincinnati. Was he really the issue though, or will the team prove this year that it was actually something else?

Kansas City Chiefs ​Is Tyreek Hill going to be catching bombs from Patrick Mahomes this season? ​Amid some legal issues surrounding abuse of his son, the future of Tyreek Hill is up in the air. There is no signs right now pointing in any direction, so we will just have to wait and see. What we do know, though, is that Hill is essential to this lethal Kansas City offense, and without him, it could hurt the championship odds for this franchise. 

Carolina Panthers Is Cam Newton going to come out completely healthy and play at an MVP level again? Super Cam looked like a completely different guy at the end of last season, and was sending balls into the dirt play after play. We then found out at the end of the season that he had a serious shoulder injury that he had surgery for this off-season. The recovery has been fairly long, and we don't know what he will look like in the end. So what will it be? MVP Cam, or bum shoulder Cam?

Arizona Cardinals Will the craziness of Kingsbury and Kyler prove to be successful? The Cardinals hired a losing college coach who was fired from his job, and drafted a 5'10" QB with blazing speed and a cannon arm who was drafted in the first round of the baseball draft not too long before. These are things that just don't happen in the NFL, and now we have to figure out if it's going to work out.

Houston Texans Can this team finally get out of their playoff slump and make a run in the postseason? The Texans have had a rough time in the playoffs in recent years. They've been good at getting into the postseason, but not at doing anything once they are there. Are they playoff bound again, and are they going to actually do something with it this time?

LA Rams Is Todd Gurley ever going to be the same, and can they still win games if he's not? Ever since Todd Gurley missed time with a knee injury at the end of last season, everything has gone down hill for him. He tried coming back to play in the playoffs, but could do nothing with his knee. Now in the offseason, he has still been having to receive special treatment. That's why we have to wonder if he will ever be back to what he once was, and what will happen to the Rams if he isn't.

New Orleans Saints Will they get revenge for how their season ended last year? Everyone remembers what happened to the Saints in the NFC Championship game, and if not, just ask a Saints fan (but be prepared for an explosion). Are they going to come back this year better than ever and prove that they belonged in the big game, or are they going to let it get to them and fall off this year?

Philadelphia Eagles Can Carson Wentz prove everyone wrong, and make the Nick Foles questions look like jokes? Ever since Wentz came in to his second season looking like an MVP, then went out for that season with a torn ACL, his career hasn't been the same. Nick Foles then took the team he was playing with at an MVP level to the Super Bowl and won it. This is when the questions about who the better QB for the Eagles began. The next season Carson Wentz came back from injury but didn't look the same, then once again got hurt, this time with back problems. Then, once again, Nick Foles stepped in and led the team to the playoffs. Nick Foles has now moved on to Jacksonville, but some people still believe that the Philly would've been better off with him instead of Wentz. Can he prove that they are all wrong, and make those people look like idiots?

Cleveland Browns Are they actually ready to start winning, or is the fact that they are the Browns going to hinder their success? If you just look at the Browns roster right now, you would want to crown them as champs already. They are absolutely loaded. You would think that this would mean that they are guaranteed to be a winning team next season for the first time in a long time, but don't get ahead of yourself. They are the Browns, and history tells us that we need to wait and see before we start guaranteeing their success. 

Baltimore Ravens Can Lamar Jackson pass the ball consistently? At the end of last year, the Ravens looked unstoppable with their run game. Once someone figured out how to put an end to that run game, though, Lamar Jackson couldn't pass the ball and make them pay that way. The run game can still be lethal with Baltimore, but they won't be a great team unless they can develop a passing game. Does Lamar have it in him to do so?

Atlanta Falcons

Which version of this team will we get this year? Atlanta has had years where they are one of the best teams in the league, like their Super Bowl year where they should've beat the Pats (lead 28-3 then lost, you remember I'm sure), then there are the years where they go 7-9 and just can't get going. Which version is it going to be this year, because I'm sure the Falcons fans are still waiting for redemption after that last Super Bowl.

Buffalo Bills Is Josh Allen going to be a franchise guy?

When a team takes a QB in the top 10 of the draft, they are expecting a franchise guy who will be there for years and win games for them. Josh Allen was a raw talent with a lot of great attributes that the Bills selected 7th overall in last years draft, and he had some really great flashes last season, including a 5 TD game to end the season. He also showed at times that he might not be a great QB. Will he go in the direction of putting it all together, or never being able to make that talent work in the way the Bills need it to. 

New York Jets Will the expensive signings of Le'Veon Bell and CJ Mosley translate to more wins? The Jets dropped a lot of cash on arguably the two biggest free agents on both sides of the ball this off-season. After sitting out for a year due to contract disputes in Pittsburgh, Le'Veon Bell got the bag he was looking for in New York, and they did the same with CJ Mosley. They put a lot of money into two guys, and that makes you think, can two players make that much money worth it?

Indianapolis Colts Can they carry on with the momentum they ended with last season? The Colts had a horrific start to last season, and they were written off early. They started 1-5, but didn't give up. 9-1 was the record that Indianapolis was able to end the year with, and they also made it to the second round of the playoffs as a 6 seed before losing to the 1 seeded Chiefs. Will this team come out the way they finished last year, or did they just catch lightning in a bottle and get lucky?

Detroit Lions ​Can they just win a playoff game already? 27. Look at that number again. Yeah. That is the number of years it has been since the Detroit Lions have won a playoff game. Not a Super Bowl. Just a postseason victory. This is second to only the Cincinnati Bengals who are at 28. 

Green Bay Packers Are they going to be the team they were last year, or the team that they should be? The team with possibly the best QB of his generation should have a winning season pretty much every year. Green Bay has been struggling lately, though. With Aaron Rodgers taking snaps, there is no reason that they should only be winning 6 or 7 games. Now that they are healthier and have beefed up their defense, will this year look the way it should, or will Packers fans be disappointed once again, with Aaron Rodger's huge contract being questioned?

Washington Redskins Will Dwayne Haskins be ready to successfully lead a team in the NFL? Dwayne Haskins is 22 years old, and had 1 year of experience as the head man in college. This can lead to the question of whether he will be experienced enough to lead a team of grown men at the biggest stage. With Case Keenum to beat, it is certainly attainable, but will he be successful when he gets the chance? That's the question. 

Denver Broncos Have they finally found the right QB after losing Peyton Manning? Since the retirement of Peyton Manning, the Broncos have not had any success in finding a QB. After many tries, they seem to be closer now than ever. They brought in a Super Bowl MVP QB in Joe Flacco, and drafted who they thought was the best QB in the draft in Drew Lock. With two chances to get this right, will they?

Dallas Cowboys How will they pay everybody on this roster? The Cowboys have already given star pass rusher Demarcus Lawrence big money, and now they have Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliot, and Amari Cooper looking to be among the highest paid players at their positions. With many other talented young players on their roster, this is a recipe for disaster. Giving too much money to these few players will create a team that doesn't have enough talent to compete, but with that in mind, they will have to make the tough decision of who to keep. How are they going to handle this?

Jacksonville Jaguars Is Nick Foles going to do what Blake Bortles never could? Other than one season where the Jaguars almost made it to the Super Bowl before a loss to the Patriots in the AFC Championship game, they never had much success under Blake Bortles, and he was one of the most under performing starters in the entire league. His only success was due to a great defense. Is Nick Foles going to be able to create an offense that holds up its end of the deal, or will it be another scenario where the defense does all of the heavy lifting?

New England Patriots ​When will they stop winning? Everyone outside of Pats fans are asking themselves this question, and it needs no explaining. 

Tennessee Titans Can Marcus Mariota play a full season? Sometimes, Marcus Mariota seems like he can be the great QB he is supposed to be, and other times he seems like a bust. Either way, he will never be able to succeed if he can't play for entire seasons. Multiple injuries to Marcus last year really hurt the Titans chances at success, and this has happened throughout his career. Is this a problem he can fix, or is he always going to be in jeopardy of missing many games every season.

LA Chargers

​Will Phillip Rivers ever get that ring? If Phillip Rivers had a ring or two, there would be no doubt that he was one of the all time greats. His numbers speak for themselves. But without a ring, or even a Super Bowl appearance, questions are always brought up surrounding Rivers' greatness. With possibly the best team he has ever had surrounding him, will he get that ring before the end of his career, or will the doubters continue their questioning for the rest of time?

Minnesota Vikings Was signing Kirk Cousins for top dollar a mistake? Many people, inluding myself, thought that the Vikings would be nearly unstoppable before last season. They were just so good the year before, didn't lose many players, and brought in Kirk Cousins who had quite a bit of success in Washington. Success just wasn't a word to be used for this team last year, though. Going 8-7-1 was not good enough. With the amount of talent on this squad, they should be guaranteed a playoff spot. Is Kirk Cousins the Issue? Was paying him all of that money instead of keeping Case Keenum a mistake?

Pittsburgh Steelers

Will they be able to produce without Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown?

Last season without Le'Veon, the Steelers didn't make the playoffs, even though James Connor had a very productive season. Now they lose Antonio Brown, possibly the best pass catcher in the league. Will James Connor and JuJu Smith-Schuster be able to pick up where the other two left off and lead the Steelers to a winning season, or is everything going to fall apart?

Chicago Bears Is Mitchell Trubisky a big time QB? This is a really tough question to answer. With a historically great defense and quite a few weapons on offense, I don't know how much of the Bear's success was because of Mitch. I'm not saying he isn't a great QB, but he hasn't proved otherwise. Is he? We don't know, and we won't know until the end of this season.

Madden Mock NFL Season For 2019-2020

We conducted a Mock NFL Season for this year on Madden 19. We used an accurate, updated roster with all free agents and rookies. There were no trades, no injuries, and the schedule was updated to fit the upcoming season. Everything was simulated with normal settings and 15 minute quarters, and made as realistic as possible for a great result. Enjoy!

Regular Season Team Records:

​AFC North

Browns: 13-3
