The Hobbit au where everything’s the same but Belladonna Took is alive and is in the background during the dwarves arrival scene. They first offer the job to Bilbo and it’s just like
“he’ll do it!”
“Mother, please!”
Her and Gandalf teaming up to convince Bilbo to go, she finds him alone later like “that Thorin Oakenshield is interesting. Tall, strong, seems honorable…terribly handsome-“
“Mother I know what you’re doing, please stop”

Bagginshield thought, since Bilbo titled his own memoir’s “there and back again” I can see the dwarves remembering his story simply as “the hobbit” and having their own telling of how a hobbit did so many amazing things for their people. Also since they’re dwarves they can see that mithril shirt was 100% a courting gift and make sure to mention how Bilbo was their king’s One and would’ve been their consort had Thorin lived. Bilbo has no clue until years later that their telling of his journey is told as a tragic romance

one thing that pisses me off greatly is the (schorlaly) misunderstanding of éowyn. i've read too many papers mentionning that éowyn was weak and that tolkien didn't write strong women and?? i'm so confused. éowyn is one of the strongest characters. she killed the witch-king and once she accomplished her goal (to gain valour in battle) she chose a peaceful life because there was no need to fight anymore. this is the opposite to weakness. she chose peace over violence?? weak people are the ones who choose violence over peace

I love how collectively The Hobbit fandom is so low key obsessed with Dís, even though she’s barely mentioned in the original text, and not even by name in the films.
She’s Bilbo’s bestie, she’s Thorin’s no-nonsense sister, she’s Fili and Kili’s loving mother, she’s a warrior, she’s a diplomat, she loves tea and music, she’s a wonderful dancer, she’s the queen of our hearts!
Between us we’ve made up this whole amazing, vibrant character with the crumbs we were given, and I just think that’s such a beautiful example of why I adore this community!
