Floral patterns were bold and sophisticated, reinforcing the brand's reputation for timeless elegance and femininity. As we look forward to fashion month 2025, here's the Big Four store for autumn/winter 2025⊠Fashion fanatics are gearing up for an influx of designer debuts and returning big names to hit the runways during fashion week this month. Designers will show their autumn/winter 2025 collections in February and March. Industry heavyweights and celebrities will no doubt grace the front rows. View this post on Instagram A post shared by CHANEL (@chanelofficial) Autumn/winter fashion month falls in the middle of awards season. This means some of the best looks are instantly picked up for the celebrity red carpet. Here's what to expect from New York, London, Milan, and Paris this fashion month⊠New York New York Fashion Week attracts some of America's most prominent fashion influencers, such as the Quann sisters (Alamy/PA) When: February 6-11 What to expect: In June 2024, the Big Four fashion weeks agreed to shift their dates back a week. However, New York decided against the changes because of a clash with a US public holiday. As a result, NYFW will now be held on 6-11 February (rather than 13-18 February, as agreed in June). This leaves a nine-day gap between New York and London Fashion Week. This gap has received mixed reviews, with some show-goers excited for a break to recover from their trans-Atlantic jet lag. In contrast, others say it will impact the attendance of more minor fashion weeks, such as Berlin and Copenhagen. Nevertheless, fashion lovers will enjoy an autumn/winter lookbook early, featuring collections from classic US designers. This includes Calvin Klein, Carolina Herrera, and Michael Kors, as well as Luar and Brandon Maxwell collections. London View this post on Instagram A post shared by Burberry (@burberry) When: February 20-24 What to expect: London Fashion Week is held biannually in February and September. It is a significant event in the global fashion industry, known for its bold creativity and cutting-edge designs. London will feature the usual suspects this year, including Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, Richard Quinn and Roksanda. Burberry remains one of the highlights of the LFW calendar. This season, designer Daniel Lee will show his latest collection. The heritage brand announced a turnaround last year. New CEO Joshua Schulman, who joined in July to succeed Jonathan Akeroyd, unveiled Burberry Forward. The plan aims to bring the brand back to where it was two years ago. It focuses on outerwear and a more diversified pricing structure. Last October, this was showcased in the 'It's Always Burberry Weather' outerwear campaign. Schulman's plan emphasized the desire for Burberry to remain a luxury brand instead of an 'accessible luxury' brand. Many were calling for this change in 2024. It is denoted as the "British Coach." Milan View this post on Instagram A post shared by Milano Fashion Week (@milanfashionweek) When: February 25-March 3 What to expect: Milan's fashion week features some of the biggest labels. Many Italian fashion houses stay put to pay homage to their roots. Italian designers will grace the Milan runways, including Fendi, Prada, Gucci, Versace, and Dolce & Gabbana. Alongside these incumbents, 'ones to watch' pepper the schedule, including London-based designer Susan Fang. She is backed by Dolce & Gabbana and is becoming known for her innovative style. View this post on Instagram A post shared by SUSAN FANG (@susanfangofficial) Campania-born designer Francesco Murano is a graduate of the prestigious IED Milan. He will also have eyes on his collection as the 2020 winner of the Who is on Next? Prize for his womenswear designs. Murano's looks are already BeyoncĂ©-approved. They wore one of his graduate pieces to the 2020 Grammy brunch. Alberta Ferretti's new creative director, Lorenzo Serafini, is also expected to make some highly anticipated runway debuts. Missoni's new head, Alberto Caliri, will likely pay tribute to Rosita, the brand's late founder, who passed away in early January. Paris Paris Fashion Week features the industry's biggest incumbents, including Chanel (Alamy/PA) When: March 3-11 What to expect: Paris is the Big Four's concluding fashion week. The shows feature heavyweights in the industry, such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, and Saint Laurent. All eyes will be on three key debuts: Sarah Burton's runway show for Givenchy, Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford, and Julian Klausner for Dries Van Noten. Loewe is one of the most notable absences from the show schedule. Instead, they opted for a co-ed presentation format. The brand was also missing from the Paris Men's schedule in January. This decision comes as speculation swirls about Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, formerly of Proenza Schouler, possibly succeeding Jonathan Anderson at the Spanish house. AlaĂŻa is a PFW newcomer. The brand's founder, Azzedine AlaĂŻa, previously opted out of Paris, choosing to show on his own time instead. This marks the house's first entry into the official Paris ready-to-wear schedule. View this post on Instagram A post shared by ALAIÌA (@maisonalaia) Tom Ford is making a notable move this season. For the debut show under their new creative director, Haider Ackermann, the EstĂ©e Lauder-owned house is shifting from Milan to Paris. The house joins a lineup of fresh additions to the schedule, including Christopher Esber, winner of the 2024 Andam Prize. Other additions include Hodakova, recipient of the 2024 LVMH Prize for Young Designers, and Burc Akyol, an LVMH Prize finalist. Givenchy and Coperni, last presented off-calendar at Disneyland Paris, will also return this season. Ludovic de Saint Sernin is back in the French capital following a one-off show in New York for AW24 and a couture collection as guest designer for Jean Paul Gaultier. Kenzo has been absent from ready-to-wear since September 2020. They are returning alongside Marine Serre, Undercover, Off-White, and VĂ©ronique Leroy. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jean Paul Gaultier (@jeanpaulgaultier) Chanel will stage its second ready-to-wear collection designed by the studio on March 11. Matthieu Blazy's first complete collection for the house is expected in October 2025. Other significant moments include shows from Dior, Balenciaga, ChloĂ©, Balmain, Alexander McQueen, HermĂšs, The Row, Victoria Beckham, Lacoste, and Stella McCartney. Saint Laurent will conclude the week on March 11. The autumn/winter 2025 women's ready-to-wear calendar features 72 shows and 37 presentations. "This calendar shows the vitality of Paris and international diversity with both established brands and promising young designers," says Pascal Morand, executive president of FĂ©dĂ©ration de la Haute Couture et de la Mode. Dior celebrated youth, whimsy, and escapism in the gardens of the Musée Rodin at Paris Haute Couture Week. The spring/summer collection was a fashion fantasy set among the surreal embroidery of Indian artist Rithika Merchant. Her tapestry depicted colorful creatures and dreamlike illustrations. The show's tapestry was created by Rithika Merchant (Lewis Joly/AP) Dior's creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, has long incorporated the strength and power of women into her designs. For this collection, she appears to have turned her attention to girls. "For this collection, I drew inspiration from Yves Saint Laurent's Trapeze Line because it references children's clothing in several ways," Chiuri explains. "I believe we should revisit our childhood, as it is a crucial formative period in our lives," she states. "I believe that anyone who wants to pursue a creative job must view their work with the wonder and amazement of someone experiencing these things for the first time. This mindset helps to create something dreamlike." As Dior's first female creative director in its 70-year history, Chiuri has transformed the label into a more youthful and feminist one. Since joining in 2016, she has often cited her daughter, Rachele Regini, as a muse. Furthermore, this inspiration has guided her creative process and significantly shaped her work. Chiuri has injected a youthful spirit into the Dior shows, influenced by her daughter, Rachele (Lewis Joly/AP) In contrast, the silhouette that dominated the runway was far more structured than Chiuri's usual style; however, it represented a departure from the draped, fluid lines of last season's haute couture show. Additionally, this shift in design approach highlights an evolving vision that could redefine future collections. Saint Laurent launched his Trapeze Line collection in 1958. He deviated from Dior's romantic New Look lines to prove that women could look sexy without accentuating a slim waistline. Inspired by this ground-breaking fashion initiative (which influenced the shift and swing dresses of the Sixties), Chiuri showcased an abbreviated take on frock coats and cocooning outerwear. Shift jackets and swing dresses dominated the runway (Lewis Joly/AP) The collection's consistent play on proportions didn't mean the details were pared back. Dramatically sweeping and densely ruffled fabrics imbued the gowns with a sense of motion. They seemed to take flight from the runway's reality into a fantasy world. Ostentatious ruffles imbued a sense of childlike fun (Lewis Joly/AP) Extravagant embellishments featured flowers and butterflies. These evoked a naturalism made famous by Christian Dior's 'Miss Dior' dress of 1949. View this post on Instagram A post shared by The Fashionable Exhibit (@thefashionableexhibit) Chuiri attaches transparent organza, broderie anglaise, and lace to cage-like crinolines adorned with streaming ribbons. This creates a naïve rawness, making it feel as though the photographers have caught the models in the act of dressing up. Moreover, this impression added a layer of authenticity to the overall presentation, making it more relatable to the audience. Transparent crinolines evoked a rawness within the collection (Lewis Joly/AP) While the fabrics were fancifully feminine, Chuiri's monochromatic palette and the Sixties accents of Jackie O shift coats and military jackets signaled the 1960s revival in 2025 fashion. Military-style jackets harked back to the styles of the Sixties (Lewis Joly/AP) Celebrities in the front row included Pamela Anderson, Venus Williams, Elizabeth Debicki, and Jenna Ortega, channeling the collection's somber palette. Model and actor Pamela Anderson, 57, wore a slate grey suit with an Alice band, veil, and matching Lady Dior bag. Pamela Anderson wore a wool Dior suit (Lewis Joly/AP) Actor Jenna Ortega, 22, best known for depicting Wednesday Addams, wore a peplum suit and micro shorts. Her outfit included cinching waist buckles, black leather opera gloves, and dark cat-eye sunglasses. Pharrell Williams commenced Menâs Paris Fashion Week with a streetwear-heavy show for Louis Vuitton. The influence of Pharrell Williams at Paris Fashion Week was evident throughout the event, showcasing his unique style during Paris Fashion Week. Pharrell Williams Paris Fashion Week shows continue to draw global attention. The brandâs creative director, 51, designed the collection with his old friend and artistic director of Kenzo, Nigo. Williams had advised Louis Vuitton to hire Nigo as creative director of Louis Vuitton back in 2023 before the French fashion house offered it to the musician himself instead, a significant moment for Pharrell Williams Paris Fashion Week. The pair met in the early Noughties in Japan (Michel Euler/AP) "Pharrell is the best choice for Vuitton," Nigo stated. Pharrell is an artist, while I am an engineer." The show explored 'streetwear and dandyism' (as the show notes stated) and undoubtedly reinforced LVMH's commitment to streetwear's cultural significance. As the streetwear market continues to grow, projected to reach $637 billion by 2032, the show firmly fixed Louis Vuitton as the leader in shaping its future. Pharrell William's Paris Fashion Week influence was evident throughout the event. The designers celebrated their 25-year friendship with a streetwear-heavy collection bursting with Y2K accents, pops of color, and Japanese motifs. The collaboration brought new vibrancy to the Pharrell Williams Paris Fashion Week scene. Japanese motifs were peppered throughout the collection (Michel Euler/AP) The show paid homage to when Nigo and Williams first met in the early 2000s, before a trip to Japan, when they first began collaborating. This collaboration enhanced the Pharrell Williams Paris Fashion Week scene. Williams conceived the idea for the men's fall/winter 2025/26 collection during his latest visit to Japan to see Nigo. During their trip, the pair went fishing and unexpectedly caught a lobster. The designers chose the crustacean as the season motif, featuring it on bags and stitching it onto clothes. This motif also highlighted Pharrell William's Paris Fashion Week creativity. Here's how to freshen up your wardrobe post-festive celebrations. If you're looking at your clothes and want a total wardrobe overhaul but have now tightened your spending budget after Christmas, you're certainly not the only one. Many people are looking for ways to achieve fashion on a budget. The New Year inspires resolutions and revised shopping habits. Industry experts advise creating a chic, sustainable, practical wardrobe for 2025. Fashion on a budget can be both stylish and practical. Refresh without overspending If you're hoping to refresh your wardrobe after Christmas without overspending, shopping wisely during the sales is essential. Charlotte Johnson-Smith, a fashion buyer at Pour Moi, advises, "Look for versatile pieces that can be integrated with the rest of your wardrobe. This is a great tip for fashion on a budget." Shop for staples instead of trend pieces in the post-holiday sales (Alamy/PA) "Look for transitional and core capsule items you can wear year after year. Neutral colors and staple items like blazers, jeans, and transitional tops are essentials." It's important not to underestimate the power of basics. "Underpin your wardrobe with a selection of versatile basics that you can easily mix and match," says Seasalt Cornwall's CCO Laura Watson. "I love long-sleeve cotton T-shirts in stripes and plains. They form the starting point of so many outfits." Accessories are another cost-effective way to update your look. Beauty experts delve into their beauty predictions. As we enter 2025, it's clear that beauty trends are evolving. While some trends claim to persist, like the defining blush trend of 2024, new buzzwords such as 'rejuvenation' aim to bring a fresh perspective to the industry. Here are the highly anticipated beauty trends to watch for in 2025. View this post on Instagram A post shared by M·A·C Cosmetics (@maccosmetics) 1. Skincare and makeup hybrids In 2024, tweens and Gen Z focused more on their skincare routines than ever. According to the American Academy of Dermatologists (AAD), children as young as eight were putting potent serums and anti-aging products on their Christmas lists. This potentially worrying obsession with skincare among younger generations has forced makeup to pivot, making the skincare-infused makeup makeup trend for 2025. Skin Illusion Clarins Beauty Balm - Jones Road "Prejuvenation will be a strong aesthetic theme for 2025, implementing proactive skin tactics now to change the course of skin aging later on in life," explains LYMA founder Lucy Goff. "Skin is a long-term investment, and huge improvements can be seen by optimizing our cellular processes," says Goff. So, for 2025, expect bathroom cabinets crammed with LED masks and chemical-based creams. Led Mask Omnilux 3. For 2025, high-end glamour will come from a relaxed Bohemian style. "Relaxed glam is a big beauty vibe for 2025," Bonded founder Elizabeth Chandler says. Chandler anticipates long, soft waves, earthy colors, and eclectic styles, moving away from 2024's "clean girl beauty." "There will be more Seventies and Eighties flavours which means that the natural undone look will run concurrently with the glam palette of the Eighties," says Chandler. "There is this sense of the Eighties mindset in the air as we shake off the uptight perfection of 2024." Connect In Colour Eyeshadow Palette- Mac Lip Pencil -Mac 4. Eighties glitter While beauty seems to be taking a more relaxed approach in 2025, there's no denying the impact of the Eighties this coming year. Nostalgia-driven beauty will be making a comeback through playful pigments and loose glitter. As blush boomed in popularity â leading some on social media to question whether they had 'blush blindness' (a term for over-applying blush without realizing it) â other Eighties makeups like loose glitter are predicted to rise the beauty ranks. Playing off the 'relaxed bohemian glamour' trend â loose glitter has a certain nonchalance, elevating your makeup without looking too 'done.' Metallic glitter -NYX 5. Tailor-made beauty The year 2024 saw the rise in personalization across the board â and the beauty sphere was no exception. "Historically, having something tailor-made to your requirements signalled exclusivity, but what started with health data tracking has developed into having an intricate knowledge of our bodies and wishing to treat them accordingly," explains Goff. Customized beauty products are gaining popularity rapidly, with brands like Skin + Me and Klira capturing the attention of Gen Z this year. Bespoke skincare kits are anticipated to be a significant trend. Affordable, hyper-targeted formulas demonstrate that personalized luxury is no longer just for the 1%. Here are four ways to revamp your wardrobe in the New Year. As the new year approaches, focus on refreshing your wardrobe. Where will you begin the transformation? From forming a signature style to creating your fashion mantra â fashion tycoons share their no-brainer fashion resolutions for 2025. Master the layering game. One of the best style resolutions for the new year is to streamline your wardrobe, a goal we surely revisit often. With that comes the art of mixing and matching to try and cut down on pointless wardrobe pieces. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Caroline Cook (@carolinesstylehacks) "It's all about unexpected combinations," says Boohoo's head of product, Sarah Heaton, who suggests mixing relaxed bottoms with elevated tops â such as the trending barrel-leg jeans with a chiffon or ruffled blouse. Luckily, layering always relies on classic and timeless pieces. "We'll see people leaning into the nostalgic British aesthetic â like trench coats layered over structured blazers and rugby shirts," says Lounge's head of product, Emily Blount. Layering isn't just for functionâit's a way to create looks seamlessly transitioning from day to night. Mixing contrasting pieces is a great way to spice up your outfits in 2025. Find your signature silhouette. Like in 2024, timeless silhouettes will reign supreme in 2025, but it's all about tailoring one uniquely to you this year. "We've always championed tailoring," explains British fashion designer and founder of Holland Cooper, Jade Holland Cooper. "The perfect blazer, impeccably cut trousers and a timeless trench coat are wardrobe workhorses." To identify your signature silhouette, it's essential to explore styles beyond traditional gender norms. Holland Cooper noted that more masculine designs have been resurgent, with the three-piece suit experiencing a notable revival. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Classic menswear by women (@women_in_tailoring) This trend may be attributed to the current resurgence of 1980s fashion. "It's sharp, sophisticated and chic â great for the office, but also an empowering ensemble for women in their day-to-day lives." Tailoring is also an excellent opportunity to experiment and find your true style. "With tailoring being such a key trend, focus on how it works with your body and coloring," suggests Blount. "A structured dress or waistcoat can bring elegance along with individuality." So, whether you're adopting power dressing or a more fluid style, finding your signature silhouette will help make curating outfits much more manageable in 2025. Oversized Blazer -Zara Sheer Ruffel blouse - &Other Stories High-waist balloon jeans- Mango Nod to trends When a trend you love comes about, it can be tempting to go all in and revamp your whole wardrobe. However, with overconsumption high on everyone's radar, 2025 may be the year to nod to a trend through more subtle style statements. "I tend to opt for classics that will remain in fashion whilst also being the perfect staple to style the key trends of the season," explains Holland Cooper, who uses the example of a trench coat. Regarding trends, "fashion is always subjective," notes Blount, "and everyone has their interpretation of the fad. "The key with any fashion trend is to ensure you're staying true to your personal style, what you feel comfortable in, and what makes you happy." The easiest way to nod to trends is to look at those that already encompass items in your wardrobe â such as favorite colors, specific cuts, or particular accessories. Red hat -Gap Animal print bucket bag -Zara Adopt a fashion mantra. All the fashion greats have one thing in common: their fashion mantra. For fashion designer and podcaster Amanda Wakeley OBE, the motto is 'Don't save for the best; dress your best every day.' "We all have those incredible pieces that have been in our wardrobe hardly worn that we keep for 'special occasions' and then often the moment passes and we wished we had worn them more," says Wakeley. "My view is clothes and accessories, for that matter, are not there to hang in a cupboard, they are there to be worn and loved and lived in. Your wardrobe should be a reflection of you, your values, and your joy. Style isn't just about looking good â it's about feeling good in your skin. Wear your best and you'll likely feel it too." "Don't be afraid to be bold," says Holland Cooper. "I love bright fabrics and am not scared to mix tweeds. "Power dressing isn't going anywhere; it's more than a trend â it's a movement. The right outfit can change how you feel, as fashion is all about confidence, so wear what makes you feel empowered." Whether that's sustainability, elegance, or individuality, make these associations into a memorable soundbite you repeat every time you put an outfit together. A favorite is 'dress to express â not impress' â which applies to everything from leggings and a jumper to showstopping evening gowns. Read the full article
