I wouldn't ever express it this well - either by the process or the artistic approach, it takes genius to provoke a shift. And that's what we're into doing!

More pertinent than ever!!
Bur more important than sharing and liking the article or posts, everyone must start doing something. It’s the announcement of a paradigm shift.
Fashion might be dead, there will still be clothes, there will still exist ways to work in the field. The question is: “How can we addapt and make an actual difference?”

I don't know if you already realized that this blog aims to be a diary of my phd research entitled "Fahion Design (and) Entrepreneurship: a Strategic Model for Higher Education" and to share some interesting articles about this topics.
I'm not a blogger, never have been, so I hope I learn a few things along the way. Learning by doing... is it ok?
Right now, besides other themes related to entrepreneurship education, I have been amazed by the etsy community in which I entered with my project/hobby called oupalab. This platform is a total go-to if you're into selling the things you make or if you are starting up your own brand - it consists of a social network for selling handmade goods, supplies and vintage articles. You can follow users, shops, favorite their articles, join teams and also learn how to be an independent worker and start selling your items full-time.
I also have been considering Hasmik Matevosyan's "Paradigm shift in fashion" - her radical proposition is a totally new design system in which the products are created and get to the market directly from producer to user (which is inquired for creation and feedback about garments and needs), with the advantages of reducing waste, lowering marketing investment, profit margins and making products unexpensive
"The goal is to achieve a 100% good fashion: a fashion industry that is profitable for the fashion creators, environmentally friendly, ethical and attractive but yet affordable for the consumer."
I am super interested in reading her book and finding out more, can't say I am not looking for the same to a great extent. My overall aim as a designer, an university teacher and a researcher has always been to find ways of making the future of fashion (and my students') interesting, profitable, innovative, ethical and sustainable.
Not sure how these two topics might be productive for my research - there is always too much to consider, every new finding becomes important. Somehow I do believe that learning from what is happening in the fashion system and from the ones innovating and promoting success, profitability and ethics will always be useful. Hope it is also interesting for you ;)

This was very happy news for me actually, there is hope for small runs, and there's a company in the US whose business model is precisely that. Plus, they are helping out a community by providing new jobs.
For designers this is great since they can get the support they need, within a short distance and they can experiment and produce with low minimum policy. And THIS is always the biggest problem in every new fashion brand/project - mass production destroys them - either they don't have the money to invest in large runs, it is mostly produced overseas AND even when producing, if the rest of the process isn't figured out then they have a huge chance of having hundreds/thousands of garments stuck.
We should all support the Good Clothing Company campaign here https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/good-clothing-company.
Hope you enjoy this news as much as I did.

The Business of Fashion is getting a lot of play of late. At the recent CFDA/Fashion Fund awards in November, Marc Jacobs spoke at length about the ups and downs (and downs) of starting a new fashion business. Many young designers rush into setting up a business, attracted by the perceived glamour and fun that is associated with the fashion industry. There are wonderful fairy tale stories of young talented designers graduating from St Martins or Parsons and then going off to achieve fame and fortune. The stories we hear less of are those that describe all of the failed … More
Although it is a somewhat old article. BoF brings the right questions for the ones considering to begin a new fashion business - read them all (they're quite small articles) if this is your case!
If not, it is also worth reading and keeping in mind for the future.

hey there
I decided to start a blog to aggregate useful info about fashion entrepreneurship.
It will be used as a means to promote opportunities in this field and also as a diary for my phd research and findings.
