ARTISTS, STOP POSTING TO DEVIANT ART

(Gen Ai/BDS)

Learned today that DeviantArt is owned by Wix, an Israeli company listed under boycott by the BDS Palestinian human rights organization.

Under Wix, who acquired DeviantArt in 2017, DV has been pushing Israeli occupation propaganda and allowing Generative Ai to completely takeover the platform and be sold on it.

It’s clear that under Wix, DeviantArt DOES NOT CARE whatsoever about the art or the artists it was originally created to cater towards. It only cares for profit.

Even if you are not well-versed on the current politics surrounding the Israeli Occupation and the erasure of Palestine for some reason, everyone can agree that Wix has changed DeviantArt for the worse and the best case scenario is that they sell it to someone who actually cares for art, not profit.

I absolutely adore to death so much of the art there, but for now I will stop posting my art there and I suggest that other artists do the same. They DO NOT DESERVE YOUR ART.

Please transition towards using alternatives like Tumblr, Insta, Twitter, and Newgrounds. Newgrounds especially is the best alternative to DeviantArt. Please suggest other alternatives as well.

An insult to life itself

I rolled out of bed feeling tired and low on energy from being up late watching the feed. Just one more I told myself and before I knew it the clock had hit four am before I finally let myself drift off for the night.

Didn't help my head was killing me, bad sleep hygiene they called it right? I saw a short video talking about it the other night.

The lonely nights gazing at the screen blurred into each other days becoming weeks becoming months then years.

Dad was in the living room watching the network which generated a new version of the The Sopranos finale made in America in which a gun man comes out of the bathroom and Tony quickly guns him down with an uzi before a small army of mafia goons enter the Holsten's to take him on in a heroic last stand.

I watched as the digitally resurrected corpse of James Gandolfini shot his way through countless men before looking at the camera “Families what its all about and I'm not going to let any of these bastards unseat me as the boss! We're going to war, to finish this.” as he looked at Carmela and kissed her.

Then Walter White from breaking bad entered the Holstens “So you're the big boss of New Jersey? I came all the way from Albuquerque, the names Heisenberg and I need your help to take out a man named Gus Fring...Do this and you'll be untouchable.”

The old man typed into the touchscreen to begin generating season seven, maybe this one would have a cross over with the wire, through I worry he's running out of ideas for prompts along with shows to pick apart for what ifs.

“Morning.” I shouted as I dragged myself into the bathroom to brush my teeth.

As I scrubbed I took out my pad “Generate Lo-jam pop rock something with Teal ocean wave pre future aesthetic.” I said as the service responded taking a few seconds to generate an entire playlist with album covers of random shapes of vague nostalgic imagery.

After washing up I returned to the living room “Can you change your little brothers food bag before you head out to work?” My dad asked apathetically before his attention returned to the Sopranos season seven.

Grabbing a gel pack from the cupboard I opened the door to Nicolas room, who was still inside his media pod, most likely watching HappyApple which generates educational kids content(tm).

Took me back since it was the same educational program I underwent when I was his age, after all its generative AI engine was built and approved personally by the TemuDisneyWonderbread company.

I remember my Grandfather told us about schools from back in his day where you had to leave the home to study when he was a kid, that was before the government de-funded them since innovations made such archaic things obsolete anyway.

After changing the bag I headed outside to grab an Amazon Tesla rideshare to work, during the ride the radio was tuned into GPT 7.02 digital generating a story about the recent efforts of the American regeneration organizations efforts to clean up the east coast radiation trench, a relic from the deepfake wars which was before my time but grandfather told me all about it and how a plague of misinformation caused world war three.

Passing through the city I saw some graffiti on a wall, yet somehow it reminded me of when I was a child, that I wanted to be an artist once.

Silly notion I grew out of thankfully, after all that's not a real job and besides we have machines to do all that stuff now.

Uh-oh! Out of buwwets...

It was cold. The last night of December before the new year. Everyone was celebrating save for Cherry, who was feeling very down on herself. Eventually out walked Zardo. "Child. Why are you not inside celebrating? A new year is about to begin." Cherry looked at Zardo with tears in her eyes. "Yeah, good riddance right? This year can go suck a fat crunchy turd for all I care!"

The eight foot tall drogon raised an eyebrow in bewilderment. "Your choice of profanity conflicts with your emotions. Why are you sad?" "Isn't it obvious?" Cherry sarcastically quipped while tears continued to run down her cheeks. "This was the year of the rabbit, right? MY year! I'm a rabbit! But like…" She stopped to wipe her eyes and compose herself. "This whole year has been nothing but a big fat misery train! People getting sick left and right, Assholes stalking people for petty bullshit, suits gouging away at everyone's money, loved ones dying…I just feel like it's all my fault this is happening!"

Without hesitation, Zardo thrusted his spear into the sidewalk. This startled Cherry even if she was a safe enough distance. After getting her attention, Zardo proceeded to take a seat beside the rabbit and began to speak…

"Your guilt is misplaced child. These incidents you describe, were you present for any of them?" "Well…no?" Cherry responded as her tears finally dried up. "Then how can any of it be your fault?" Zardo asks raising a valid point. "You are a rabbit yes, but you do not represent the year of rabbits, let alone this year in particular. Unfortunate events happen for a number of reasons. To blame them all on one person that has no control over any of it…is silly!"

After a brief silence, Cherry starts to snicker. Her snickers then turned to giggles. Finally her giggles gave way to uproarious laughter. "Did you seriously just say 'silly' with a straight face? I can't bestie! I just can't!" Zardo didn't say a word. He simply smiled knowing his young friend was feeling much better. Just then they overheard the party inside the bar going silent. The countdown to midnight had begun. It was at this instant that Cherry stood up and wrapped her arms around Zardo's neck in a platonic hug. "Thanks Zardo. Happy new year." Zardo did his usual grunt and patted the rabbit's head in response. "Hrm…Happy new year little one."

Through having lost my cat and life in general dumping on me all year long, I have mustered up the motivation to graduate from merely making sprite comics to going into animation. Hopefully with music and sound effects as well.

Sister Spotlight: Eve

The one that started me down this rabbit hole of a hobby. I wanted to take a break from gunpla and mecha models for a while, and decided to build my own 30 minute sister early this summer. Eve started out as just a bog standard Rishetta with the Evil Costume, but I later applied other stuff to give her more of her own identity. Such as face plates from vol 1. Set 3, and the teal hair from Hair Option set 5. Other little touch-ups include mismatched shoulders with only one armor plate on her left shoulder, the leg armor blocks being painted black, a Medawatch from the 1/12 gashapon medabots, and lastly leftover zoid decals to make her stand out more.

While the Type H assault rifle is nothing special to write about (It's the Kotobukiya one just painted green), I am especially proud of the dagger which I made by cementing the tip of a 00 Diver Ace sword to the handle to a broken Grimoire knife, and pinvising a 3.0mm peg into the side for easy storage.

All in all I'm proud of how Eve turned out. She's still probably my favorite out of the girls I've built, but that doesn't mean I love the others any less. You'll find out about them soon enough.

These last couple of weeks have been kind of shitty, so I've had little to no motivation to work on comics and I think I'm coming down with a flu, so have some butt ball to make up for it.

Also 30 minute sisters is my new obsession. Lookit how cute she is!

Thing is I'm pretty sure they did try that in Monster Squad and Dracula just no-sold it. Dracula is just kind of a badass in that regard compared to blueberry mcgee.

There are much better ways of escaping social media than more social media. If you really need a break from random people responding to you with non-sequitur posts, stepping away and touching grass is always a valid and highly recommended method.

Put Arthur at the top and make Cinder take his place in the 'on purpose' category. Dude literally got away with a lot of shit and could have gotten away with more if it wasn't for Cinder's dumb ass throwing a monkey wrench into things every single time.

I just love that it's been four years and the most staunch anti Bumbleby people are just seething Adam Taurus fans upset that their edgelord self insert didn't become the main antagonist for whatever reason. Oh, and they're also usually homophobes so even more of a reason to drink their tears and laugh.

There's really no excuse for being a Bumbleby-denier other than admitting you're biased against same-sex relationships.

Even ignoring the fact that it's canon now, Blake and Yang's relationship has been compared multiple times throughout the show to as-of-then unconfirmed het-ships that no one questions.

Moments before we get the Renora kiss, Nora uses Bees as a metaphor for her and Ren - two people who have been through that much together? She's talking about Yang and Blake but also about her and her man.

Not once were Adam and Blake ever shown being physically intimate, nor were we ever told that they officially had feelings for each other, and yet everyone instinctively can tell they were A Thing.

When Adam confronts Yang and Blake in S6, he immediately draws comparisons between their bond and his - taunting Yang by telling her Blake made similar promises to him.

So if you accept these ships - one which was fanon for nearly as long as Yang x Blake, the other which is never explicitly canonized - how can you deny Bees? You can't - unless you're willing to admit that you just hate seeing two women kiss.

(Also shout out to Adam Taurus, officially the world's first Bumbleby truther - homeboy literally took one look at Yang and was like "damn she's down bad, guess this is someone I can use to hurt Blake")
