Yet Another Day
Fairytales didn’t exist. You had always been well aware of that, even when you had only been an innocent, naive little princess of Nohr.
Only now, you were no longer its princess- you were its queen.
Most girls would have been dying to be in your position- to live in Castle Krakenburg, to wake up in the king’s bed every morning, to have two beautiful children like you did.
It sounded perfect, didn’t it?
Except, well, it wasn’t. When you had first fallen for Xander, back when you were just a child yearning for comfort and the presence of another human being aside from your ever loyal servants, he had been the one there most often. You had watched him train from your windowsill and you had listened to his loving words.
You were his ‘little princess’ and that had been enough for a while, until it wasn’t.
But now you had more, far more, and you are so happy to have it, to have his true love, to be the one standing at his side.
However, you were not a fool. You knew that this was not the perfect fairytale that your younger self had dreamed of- no matter what the court may say.
There were problems, so, so many issues lying beneath the surface like a sleeping lion that neither of you ever wanted to wake.
Try as you may, you could never quite shake off the betrayal you had once felt at his stalwart support of Garon and his selfish war. Maybe it was hypocritical of you, but you had been young and naive and Xander had not, and yet he was the one that had condoned the deaths of so many innocents and soldiers without one question.
Perhaps you would never forgive him- just as you may never forgive yourself.
And maybe, just maybe, you resented him a little bit too. After all, you were not meant for this docile life as a ‘lady’. No, you were a warrior, brave and strong and meant for the battlefield. Perhaps it was wrong of you, but there would always be a little voice inside your head blaming him for your yearning of the battlefield and its adrenaline- of your silly treehouse and its beloved memories.
But remember, Little Princess, you made your bed. Now lie in it.
Of course, it would not be a lie to say that the good easily outweighed the more negative aspects of your relationship. Stressed though he may be, the king of Nohr would always be a caring lover, always tending to your needs and doing his best for your children.
And that is what you told yourself, smiling as you fell asleep in his arms after yet another day of the pretentious politics of court and the stuffy duties of a queen.
It would be okay, you knew. So long as he was by your side, everything would always be more than just okay.

Laslow Domestic Headcanons
- Laslow is THE morning person. He wakes his S/O up with a chaste (or maybe not so chaste) kiss or something of the like and never fails to prepare a pot of tea before the love of his life is even finished brushing their teeth.
- Dancing is in his blood. As such, it is not very uncommon for him to hum a tune or two and ask his S/O to dance with him at random points throughout the day. It is also equally likely for him to just get up and practice on his own so long as he thinks no one is watching- he is still very shy about his solo dancing, after all.
- Laslow is the king of parenting. He likes to regale Soleil and any other children he may have with tales of his exploits in Ylisse as bedtime stories and never fails to give his child(ren) all of the love and attention they deserve. The kid(s)’ favorite ‘characters’ from these stories are Inigo and his beautiful mother Olivia. surprise surprise
-Laslow isn’t the best of cooks, so he tends to leave that sort of thing to his S/O and prefers handling the cleaning duties. However, if his S/O is really tired then he tries his best to make the best dinner he can- anything to make his love feel happy and relaxed.
