My only wish would be it had lasted a lil tiny tad bit longer, but I suppose everything in life must come to an end eventually. Shucks \[<,<]/

Despite having done this many times before, for a reason I can’t grasp yet it was somewhat different and a certain feeling I can’t quite describe still is present.
Maybe that’s a nice thing after all? Maybe that’s enough?

two ships sailing in the dead of night
what can eye see
through the fog
one of those things that cannot be grasped
except a vision in my minds eye
gently takes my head between his hands
caressing me like a long lost love
best you can hope as you carry their dreams and hopes inside your palms
your skin made of steel won’t crack
and spill out what’s of value until the time is right
at the very least
until what you call home nowadays
finds a warm shore where air is clean
and to touch is being tender
one question is left to ask
can two ships passing by each other in the dead of night collide?

Painting by Gilbert Daykin, 1886-1939. "The Dudley: Thirst - the end of a shift", 1934. Oil on canvas; The Deputy passes the waterjack flask (Dudley) to a miner. As a district official, the deputy wears waistcoat and trousers. Each miner's Dudley held three pints of water to last the length of the shift.
Daykin worked as a miner at a pit near Sheffield and he produced a number of vivid artworks showing what the physical work of a coal miner was like down the pit. Sadly he was killed in 1939 in a mine shaft accident. Eleven artworks by Daykin were gifted by his family to the Science Museum in 1978.
