i won't say the name of the fic (though the following clues are going to 100% give it away) but it has to be said. the LOTR trilogy rolls in at just under half a million words yeah? the Books That Shall Not Be Named series comes in at little over a million.

if your fanfic is going to reach TWO MILLION words and you STILL haven't finished up. i think it's time to really sit down and start chopping out the fluff. i'm sorry. but you are losing your plot in the weeds. you don't need this many words. nobody does. focus on what's important. i know it's easy to think more words = better but there's a reason you learn to write flash fiction and poetry on creative writing courses and it's to make you learn how to use words sparingly. and this isn't sparing. this is the word count equivalent of like. buckingham palace.
