If you were to describe Faye Wong, how would you describe her?
She is an ordinary person. She has a little talent and caught on during the right time so that she could use that talent to the fullest, therefore she is a lucky person. That’s how I see it. If she understands this clearly, she should be content with her limited ability. She should keep to herself, live her life well to understand her truth as much as possible, and avoid blathering and sharing those life insights with others. Give up preaching, give up looking like she can see beyond the facade, and never try to be outstanding.
She loves to sing and she should sing freely, not with a sense of purpose. Music is not a weapon to use to conquer people. Don’t glorify it. Treat it as a toy. Don’t worry about the game, otherwise you’ll miss out on the fun of the toy.
She should neither resist praise, nor take it to heart. If she encounters slander, it’s best to be indifferent and treat all kinds of comments equally.
If she is tired, she can give up. It’s okay to be reluctant to leave, but she shouldn’t be hurt by it. Don’t stick to the image, no matter what the so-called image has brought her. Be natural, not deliberate.
Face the world in a daze, face herself perfectly straight.
She should be able to love and not love normally. Never care about reputation, that kind of thing makes a person deeply hypocritical.  Before she surfaced, she struggled just like the rest of us. It’s not that she is more noble than others. She is merely not more despicable than others.

[TRANSLATION] Faye Wong takes a psychological quiz with Jessica Magazine (November 2000)
Q: Suppose you want to go to your boyfriend’s house. There are two roads. One is plain but shorter. The other one is more scenic but the distance is longer. Which will you choose? FAYE: The longer way. MEANING: You take a long time to observe before you invest in a relationship. Selecting the shortcut means falling in love easily. Q: When you get to his house, will you ask his parents to call him or will you go directly into his room? FAYE: Just call him out [myself]. MEANING: When you are in a relationship, you will face difficulties directly and find ways to solve them as soon as possible. Having his parents call him means that you prefer to avoid conflict. Q: If your boyfriend is not in the room and you want to leave a bouquet of roses for him, do you place them by his pillow or by the window? FAYE: I don’t like roses very much. If I bring flowers, they will be placed next to the pillow. MEANING: This expresses the desire to see your lover day and night. Putting it by the window means it’s okay to meet infrequently. Q: Do you think the roses are all red, all white, or a mixture, such as one-third is white and two-thirds red? FAYE: I don’t like red roses, so white roses! MEANING: Red roses represent how much you are willing to give for your relationship, while white roses represent expectations. Choosing all white roses means that you expect to gain more. Q: You spend the night in the guest room of your boyfriend’s house. The next day when you walk into your boyfriend’s room, will you find him still asleep or has he gotten up and groomed himself? FAYE: Still asleep. MEANING: You can accept your boyfriend’s true side. If you imagine that he has woken up, then you have hope that the other person will change himself for you. Q: When you leave your boyfriend’s house, will you choose the longer road with more scenery or the shorter plainer way? FAYE: Short way. MEANING: When a relationship ends, you will be able to leave quickly. Choosing the long road means you will heal slowly.

Singer Hei Ni, an old family friend of Faye's mother, spoke about Faye. Summary of her comments:
As for Faye Wong, she is actually already an orphan. As a big fan of Faye Wong, love her so much. In fact, there are many stories because we had spent time together for so many years. My relationship with her mother was so good.
There's lots of analysis on the internet about the song sung at the Spring Festival Gala. It's more about analyzing her words. And more importantly, the last line of the song: "Those far away have gone far, may they be at ease."
Well, this reminds me of her family at home. They were a family of four. Mom, dad and older brother. A family with a boy and a girl. It was absolutely perfect. But unfortunately, her loved ones left too early. Her mom died around the age of 60. That's really early. Her death made me really sad. Even more, it's a pity that her brother died young. It was also because of health problems. I heard that her old father has also passed away in the past few years. Where does that leave Faye Wong now? To be honest, she is an 'orphan'. That is to say, in this world, there is no one left but her and her two daughters. So I don't think it's easy to be in her position on the stage. How many things does she have to face on her own? She is really strong. I think as we all love her, her fans love her, we should all understand her more. I read that sometimes what the internet says is very bad. Don't do that. Faye Wong is a very kind child. Their family is very kind. Don't treat kind people like this. We all like her songs very much don't we? We should all love her. Although we can't help much, we can convey our love for her through the internet to support her. Let her not feel so lonely.
