You were different from your brothers, well from what you knew. Now it may sound cliché, but it’s true. You didn’t like hurting dragons. Hunting them, selling them.
Although, nobody knew of your true feelings or they simply didn’t care. Regardless, you didn’t kept it hidden from your family and village.
You guys were the perfect siblings trio. The dream team, some would say.
Viggo, the brains. Ryker, the brawn. And you, the beauty.
Viggo did care for you, truly. Ryker, on the other hand, it was questionable at best. Your parents were proud of having you three as their children. You would be used as bait on every mission since the day you turned fifteen.
From that day, you were seen as nothing but a pretty face. Although, your brothers knew you were more than that.
By the time you were seventeen, you were so used to pretending. Always wearing a mask, never finding your true self.
༻༺༻༺
All of that changed when you met him, Hiccup Haddock. He intrigued you when he didn’t fall for your flirtatious comments like any man had in the past.
Hiccup immediately saw you as an enemy when Viggo introduced you as his precious sister. You two met when the dragon riders went to go save Heather.
He saw you when you were scouting, looking for any of the riders. You spotted his head poking out behind some bushes. You just snickered and walked away.
”How pitiful, and here I thought we could talk more.” you stated with fake sweetness, walking around the frozen boy and his dragon. The Flightmare did prove useful, but deep down, you didn’t want to harm it.
“Oh well, until next time, Haddock,” you said with a shrug. You then walked away, leaving the boy and dragon alone for whoever or whatever to find them.
༻༺༻༺
Hiccup could see right through your mask. He saw how you would hesitate, before regaining your composure and firing arrows at them.
You talked to Heather when she was locked in the dragon cage. She was the only one who could understand you. After all, you’re were both related to enemies of the dragon riders. Though, your brothers were far worse than Dagur.
Heather would try to convince the dragon riders to give you a chance. After all, this was the best shot to take down the dragon hunters. You could act as a spy, but you would have to be very careful. After all, Viggo’s intelligence is not something to take lightly.

Pʀᴇsᴇɴᴛ Dᴀʏ:
The night sky stretched above you like spilled ink, scattered with stars and the whisper of clouds. You stood on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean, cloaked in a hooded cape, your griffin sleeping silently behind you.
You’d told your brothers you were scouting alone. A lie, of course. But you’d perfected that long ago.
The gentle breeze made you shiver constantly. You were simply watching the fishes jump in and out of the water. Stormmist spent nearly the whole evening catching and eating fishes, occasionally some sea slugs.
Then came the soft, unmistakable hum of wings. Not just any wings.
Toothless.
He landed silently behind you, barely rustling the tall grass. You didn’t turn right away — you didn’t have to. You could feel his presence like the shift in the wind.
“No flirtatious comment?”, Hiccup teased, hopping off his saddle. “That’s very unlike of you.”
You smiled faintly. “Don’t get use to it.”
“Don’t plan on it,” he said, stepping closer. “So why shouldn’t I get use to it?”
You finally turned to face him, your expression softer than the words that followed. “If I were to flirt with you every time we interact,, Hiccup, it would lose its affect. I prefer to watch you stammer.”
His grin flickered, eyes scanning your face for a moment longer than necessary. “Fair point.”
A beat passed. Tension, charged and warm, crackled between you. It always did. That strange magnetism of two people who shouldn’t be standing this close — and yet always ended up here.
“I couldn’t stay away..,” he said finally, voice quieter now. “Not tonight. Not after what Viggo pulled this morning.”
Your fingers tightened slightly around your dragon’s reins, remembering the cruel trap your brother had laid out for a Deadly Nabber.
“I hated it too,” you admitted. “But I’m not my brothers, Hiccup…”
“I know,” he replied instantly, voice low and steady. “That’s why I’m here.”
A long silence. Just Toothless and G/n breathing. The sky waiting.
Then Hiccup stepped forward. “Fly with me.”
Your brow lifted. “Seriously?”
He nodded. “No plans. No missions. No spying. Just you, me, and open air.”
Toothless whuffed beside him as if to say finally.
You turned over to Stormmist, before walking up to her sleeping figure. You took off your cloak and covered her with it.
You turned back to face Hiccup, giving a slight nod.
“If anything happens to us and Stormmist wakes up, she has my cloak and can track my scent.”
༻༺༻༺
The takeoff was silent. Toothless was swift, smooth, and surprisingly warm against your legs. You were behind Hiccup, holding tightly at first, then slowly easing into the rhythm of flight.
The wind kissed your cheeks. The stars seemed closer up here. Neither of you spoke for the first few minutes. Words weren’t needed.
Then..
“Why are you really out here tonight?” Hiccup asked over his shoulder.
You answered honestly. “Because watching you risk everything, for dragons, for people, made me wonder what I’m doing.”
He was quiet a moment. “And?”
You stayed quiet for a few seconds, wondering what to say. You finally decided to give your real answer.
“I still don’t know…”
He didn’t push you. Didn’t judge. He just steered Toothless through a gentle arc above the sea, the moon’s reflection glittering on the waves below.
“I don’t know everything,” he admitted. “But I know that being around you makes things feel possible.”
You rested your cheek lightly against his back, letting your eyes close for just a moment. “Promise you won’t shoot me out of the sky next you and Viggo go up against each other?”
He chuckled softly. “Only if you don’t sabotage our outposts.”
“Deal,” you whispered.
༻༺༻༺
Toothless banked lazily to the right, riding the slipstream with ease. You had your arms loosely around Hiccup’s waist, the rhythm of flight calming your thoughts more than anything ever had.
And then-
A low, familiar screech tore across the night air like a blade cutting through silk.
You sat up straight, already smiling.
Hiccup turned his head halfway toward you. “What was that?”
You smirked. “Late to the party.”
A massive shadow swooped out of the clouds above you — wings outstretched, feathers shimmering silver-black in the moonlight. The sheer grace of it made Hiccup’s breath catch. Even Toothless chirped in surprise.
Your griffin.
Stormmist.
She circled once overhead before diving smoothly beside Toothless, eyes glowing like fireflies, talons glinting, her long tail streaming behind her like a comet’s tail. Her gaze flicked to you, then to Hiccup. She chirped with smug judgment.
“She doesn’t like that I left without her,” you said, grinning.
“I’m not sure I like that she can sneak up on me and Toothless.”
“She’s special,” you said simply. “Like Toothless. Just… pointier.”
Without a word, you nudged Hiccup’s arm, leaning in close behind him.
“Hold her steady,” you whispered, and before he could ask—
You stood on the saddle. Balanced. Wind whipping at your cloak.
“Wait—what are you—?”
And then you leapt.
Stormmist swooped beneath you at just the right moment. You landed smoothly between her shoulders, gripping the base of her neck, your legs sliding into place like it was second nature.
She shrieked in triumph.
Hiccup blinked, still stunned. “Did you just jump mid-air?!”
You gave him a cocky wave. “Don’t fall behind, future chief!”
And then you took off.
༻༺༻༺
Stormmist shot forward like a bolt of lightning, slicing through the sky in fluid, sweeping arcs. Her wings barely made a sound, unlike Toothless, who growled playfully at the challenge before launching after you.
Hiccup leaned forward, already shifting his stance. “Alright, bud. She wants to race? We’ll show her how we do it.”
Toothless kicked into high speed, his tail fin shifting with precision. The air rippled around him as he gained on you, barely.
You looked over your shoulder, hair flying wild around your face, eyes glittering.
“You’re slow!” you called over the wind.
“You cheated!” Hiccup shouted back.
You laughed, heart pounding with something more than adrenaline. Stormmist tucked her wings and dove low, skimming the tops of the trees. You heard Toothless behind you, following the same line, always right on your tail.
It wasn’t just a race.
It was flirting. It was fire. It was two hearts testing each other in the sky, free from rules and names and bloodlines.
༻༺༻༺
You and Hiccup finally pulled up beside each other, breathing hard, dragons gliding effortlessly as the trees became cliffs and the cliffs gave way to the sea again.
The wind was quieter now.
Your eyes met across the short distance.
He was flushed, eyes shining, hair wild from the wind.
“You know…” he called out, voice softer now. “For someone who’s supposed to be the enemy, you make flying feel like freedom.”
You tilted your head, smirking. “Maybe you’re just finally flying with the right person.”
And for a moment, in the moonlight, with nothing but wings and waves below you, that truth hung between you like a promise.
Stormmist landed first, her talons touching down in a smooth, almost feline prowl. The gravel scattered beneath her weight as she slowed to a halt near a quiet inlet of the sea — just out of sight of the Riders’ outpost, but close enough to feel like forbidden territory.
Seconds later, Toothless glided in behind her with a proud chirp, wings pulling back sharply as he landed with a heavier thud. He shook his head, clearly unimpressed with finishing second.
You slid off Stormmist’s back, boots crunching softly on the pebbled ground. Hiccup dismounted more carefully, his prosthetic clicking faintly as he hit solid earth again.
Your companions exchanged a low rumble, not quite hostile, not quite friendly, and padded off toward the waterline to drink, leaving you and Hiccup alone beneath the moonlight.
The silence wasn’t awkward.
It was full. Thick with everything unsaid.
You turned toward him, arms crossed lightly over your chest, not defensive, just steadying yourself.
“You almost caught me,” you teased, but your voice had softened. “Almost.”
He looked at you, that crooked half-smile tugging at his lips, but his eyes were sharper. Warmer.
“You jumped from my dragon in mid-air,” he said. “That should be cheating.”
You tilted your head. “I call it initiative.”
“You’re ridiculous.”
“You’re just mad I won.”
He stepped closer, just a foot away now. “No. I’m mad because I’m supposed to be watching you. Treating you like the enemy.”
You raised a brow. “And yet here you are. Flying with me. Chasing me.”
“I’m not just chasing you in the sky, you know.”
That hit you in the chest like a gust of wind. For all your confidence, your training, your carefully sharpened words—that made your breath catch.
You didn’t move.
Neither did he.
The air between you charged, more than sparks, more than heat. You could feel the gravity between you shift. His hand lifted slightly, hovering near yours like he was waiting for permission.
Your eyes locked. His were green. You were sure he could hear your heart.
You didn’t even realize you’d leaned in until your nose brushed his. So close. Too close. Not close enough.
Your breath hitched. His hand touched your waist, gentle, grounding.
Then—
“HICCUP!”
Both of you jolted apart like struck by lightning.
A voice. Astrid’s.
She wasn’t near. But she was close enough.
You looked at each other, breathless, wide-eyed.
Toothless raised his head from the shore. Stormmist let out a low growl, not threatening, but warning.
“I should go..,” you whispered.
Hiccup didn’t answer right away. His hand lingered near yours.
You stepped back. “Next time… don’t let me win.”
He smiled. It was soft. Knowing.
“Next time, I won’t.”
“One last thing,” you exclaimed, climbing onto Stormist’s back. Hiccup raised a brow, signaling you to continue.
“Be careful, Chief. You’re falling for the enemy.” A small smirk plastered on your face, putting your cloak back on.
He grinned. “I’m already there.”
And then, like mist in moonlight, you were gone, soaring into the sky on Stormmist’s back before Astrid ever saw you.
Leaving Hiccup alone with a pounding heart and the taste of a kiss that almost was.

Tbh, this was a bit a hard to write. I feel like it’s lazy and doesn’t make sense 😭. Some feedback would be appreciated.
