you sighed as you put your phone down. he had liked your post, something he’d never done before. it wasn’t abnormal, but it was still kind of weird. he hadn’t spoken to you in days and here he was liking your post. you knew he’d be texting you soon.

this wasn’t abnormal either. he’d only text you when he needed you, not when you needed him. it annoyed you, really, that he was so selfish. that didn’t stop you from going back, though.

you ended up at his doorstep, doing your special knock on his door before ringing the bell once. he knew it was you; you were the only one to show up to his house and knock and ring the doorbell. he opened the door and his hands immediately found your waist, pulling you in closer. you put your hands on his arms as he gave you a kiss. you hated that you melted into him so easily.

“i missed you,” he told you with a smile, breaking the kiss. you should’ve slapped him and asked where he’d been, or even punch him in the nose and walk off. but you didn’t.

“joão, we can’t keep doing this.”

you scanned his eyes, trying to read his emotions. six simple words had broken him—but he wouldn’t let you see it. his smile slightly faltered, but he still asked, “keep doing what?”

“this. us. you go missing for days until you feel the need to bring me around. hiding me from your friends and pretending you don’t know me. i don’t wanna live like this where you call me up and we fuck and that’s it. i want something real with you and if that’s not how you feel then i don’t see the reason for me to keep coming around.” you gave him a piece of your mind, but didn’t push him off of you.

he frowned then stroked your cheek. “baby, i…” he didn’t know what else to say. he planted a kiss on your forehead and pulled you in for a hug. “i thought this was what you wanted.”

“all i want is you.”

he pulled you out but didn’t let go. he bit his cheek before responding, a habit you’d grown to love. “i want you, too. hell, i’d even kill a man for you, yn.”

you giggled at his last sentence before sighing. “okay. so where do we go from here?”

“we can start with the question that’s been on my mind forever… will you be my girlfriend?”
