The silence was unnerving mostly because there was never a moment of silence when the two of them were together so it had him feeling some type of way. It was hit gut telling him that she was up to something and his gut had never steered him wrong, except all the times that it did, but he hadn’t died so it didn’t count. 

He’d stopped reading his file long ago and instead had been focusing on her every little move and holding his breath to see what she would try and hit him with. It just never seemed to come, maybe he was just being paranoid for no reason. 

“That information is classified. If I told you, I’d have to kill you after.”

    her mind raced, trying not to show any facial movement changes as her eyes surveyed the room, trying to figure out a way to get the upper ground on him- there was an air duct that she could swing herself into for an easy escape route but it was right above his head.       she pondered for a moment whether it’d be an advantage or disadvantage to use him as launch pad into the duct, bouncing herself right off his shoulders- it’d leave her legs open to counter attack but if she kicked his head he could potentially be stunned.        “ as if i’d let you.  but yeah, i’m just stalling. what’re the rules again? have we allowed weapons back in? “

Hm.” He pretended to ponder that as he moved to release another drop over the rubber lined wires he’d had stacked up next to the steel, watching the acid burn through that as well. “As long as you’re on my side? No.”

    she smiled back at him, eyes flicking back down to watch the experiment continue. “ then i’ll continue being on your side until you give me a reason otherwise. and in that moment, no super acid will stop my wrath. “ ji stood back up, straightening her back. “ anything else more interesting that you’re working on? “

     the room was silent except for the hum of fluorescent lighting and the occasional shift of her teammate in the seat across from her. they were each reading their own mission files, knowing not to look at the others when she got the idea for the perfect attack.     you see, they’d been stuck in this limbo of constantly having to one up each other in sparring and justin had beat her by pulling the fire alarm to wake her up and jumping her in the staircase. the girl still had a few bruises from rolling down two flights of stairs in her pajamas.    but now, she could feel the weight of her gun sitting on her hip and all she could think about was how easy it would be to flip the table and have the muzzle pointed at him, winning- finally.       “ who’s your support for next week? “

William spent most of his free time, when not on a mission, training. More often than not, if he wasn’t in the gym, he was in a lab working on new forms of poisons to slow down human enemies and powerful acids to break down Blackwatch’s mechanical foes. 

Hunched over a tiny vial, dark eyes trained on the clear drop hanging precariously from his syringe, he didn’t look back when someone silently entered the room. “Il est impoli de se faufiler sur les gens.” It’s impolite to sneak up on people. “Is there a reason you’re here?”

The drop fell and within a matter of seconds had eaten its way through the ten inches of steel Will had placed on the table, the ring around the hole bubbling.

    “ Ich habe geklopft und du hast nicht geantwortet. “ she lied, coming around the table to watch the experiment curiously. she crouched down, still a reasonable distance away to watch the steel be eaten away. “ Should I be concerned that you’re in here making something that can eat away entire plates of armor? “

          he’d rehearsed just what he’d say several times before he DARED go out in search of the nearest soul. maybe that’s why he was so emboldened, a comfortable monotony to the words that played like a broken record.lips are firing words the very instant irises connect with the other & the tone that has enveloped him is one of genuine CURIOSITY.  ( clutching the bowl like a LIFE-LINE. ) ❝ hey —! uhm i made a little T O O much, would you like some ? ❞ 

          she eyes the bowl silently, glancing back up at the other before reaching her hand out to touch the bowl. “ i would, but if this is a prank then i will make it my personal mission to get vengeance in the most awful ways imaginable. “

     a small grunt can be heard through the crack of the door, a moment of silence, and then the clanking of metal upon metal. it rings out so loud it sends abel’s ears abuzz, and he squints his eyes behind his glasses in discomfort. when he had the idea of playing around with magnetic abilities for soldier cybernetics–honestly, what an idea! do you know how easy it would be for our soldiers to scale buildings?! to remove weapons for enemy hands?!–the idea of the strength of the magnet hadn’t really come to mind. he was more focused on creating it than, well…the repercussions. 

     said repercussions being your arm magnetized to your desk. just the slightest of movement will send pens and paper clips and pins flying into the palm of your hand. abel was stuck until he could pull the damn screwdriver off to reopen the mechanics of his arm. 

     tipping his head back towards the ceiling, abel sighs his woes up to the heavens, all but admitting defeat before a shadow of a figure passes by his door. he scrambles to get up and then remembers he’s literally stuck to his desk, knocking over papers and mugs with his free arm as he catches himself before calling out to them. 

     “h-hey uh–! if you have a moment, i could really use the help!”

     she couldn’t tell you where her mind had been only moments before, if prompted she’d say something stereotypical like training or a debriefing after a mission but in reality it’d just been entirely blank. a moment of solitude in the chaos that was overwatch, not a single thought but her body still remembering to function on autopilot.                                beautiful.         however, she was pulled from it by the sound of abel calling for her, taking a few careful steps back the girl poked her head into the room. her eyes quickly glanced over her best friend, assessing the situation before a bubble of laughter escapes from her. 

    “ are you actually stuck to your desk right now? “

 the moment they were accepted into the official ranks of overwatch. it proved that their whole life had been worth it, that they were making their father proud of them.

  her squadron dying in front of her, having to watch as her family- the people she loved most- died in front of her own eyes and there was nothing she could do to save them. she’d be nothing but the shell of a person then. 

what was the worst thing in your character’s life?

    the time that on the way to a three month mission on a remote part of the world, her ipod broke and she lost every podcast she had spent hours downloading to hold her over. 

what is your character afraid of?

   becoming weak and useless.
