I'm now extremely disappointed that there hasn't been a weight attached to either of the two mammograms I've had. Like, dude, with the size of these suckers, that's something I wanna know!
Side note on the EDS portion of things. Sibling has EDS and got top surgery. Apparently the surgeon said the surgery was more like an amputation than actual top surgery, because the breast tissue had literally pulled away from the chest wall and was only held in place by the skin.
Given the "hidden depths" commentary, maybe you're suffering from a similar situation? I mean, hopefully not, but I guess that's a Thing That Can Happen with EDS?
Had a 'fun' new experience today in the form of my first ever mammogram because I found a lump on my chest a few weeks ago, and when you find a lump, you get that shit checked out.
Ironically, the lump I went to get investigated turned out to be nothing, likely just a cyst that made its way to the surface, but they did find something else on the scan that requires me to do a follow-up ultrasound in six months. The doctor stressed that it is most likely a fibroid, but given my family history of breast cancer and general weird health fuckery, they're being vigilant and keeping an eye on it.
The mammogram itself was fine. The technician doing it kept complimenting me on the "pliable" nature of my breast tissue and how easy it was to smoosh me into the machine. I was like thanks, I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome; my body is basically made of only slightly more reinforced laffy taffy.
She said, "That explains that," and then proceeded to smush my tits into a pancake. Apparently, they were the most compliant tits she's worked with. I said thank you because what else can you do in that situation. And then she asked me if I wanted to know how much they weighed, and I said boy, do I?!
So she started reading off the results and was like, "17.7 lbs," and I was like, gosh, no wonder they feel so heavy, and then she kept talking and said, "And the other one weighs..."
And that's when I realized she didn't mean total.
She meant one boob was 17.7lbs.
So in case you've ever wanted to know, my right boob weighs 17.7 lbs, and my left one weighs 17.3 lbs, bringing the grand weight hanging off my chest to an even 35 lbs.
The tech was like "gosh! That's a lot for someone of your size!" and I was like "ya fucking think?!"
For a frame of reference, I weigh 136 lbs total. One-quarter of my weight is tits.
I am one-quarter titty.
And I'm telling that to the next doctor who suggests I lose weight.
Anyway. Remember to do regular breast exams, and don't be afraid of mammograms. Yes, they're checking for cancer, but they also tell you fun things like how much your chest weighs and whether or not your boobs are compliant.

Other reasons people might carry water bottles all the time now:
When is the last time you tasted water from a hose? Have you noticed that the tap water tastes absolutely horrible anymore? Water isn't always readily available.
Water fountains are regularly broken, poorly maintained, and again, the water tastes disgusting. They are also a great spot to spread germs between people, given how often people love to put their mouths right on the spout.
You can't just get a cup of water for free from the gas station or restaurant anymore. They now charge you for the cup. So, no water and didn't have a quarter? Guess you're going thirsty.
The cost of bottled water is insane. We're also way more aware of the impact of single use plastics on the environment. Reusable water bottles avoid both of these issues.
Have I mentioned that the flavor of water is important? If you don't like the flavor, you're not going to drink it, and now you are getting dehydrated. Some people opt to just constantly haul water so they can be sure they have access to water they will drink.
Having a water bottle or three full of water constantly is a great way to prevent heat related health complications. Especially if you have any sort of health issues.
Water bottles have lids/are leak proof. Now you don't dump water on your keyboard when you knock the bottle over.
If you were female and a teen, you may have had the "weight loss hack" of "drink water to keep yourself from being hungry" rammed down your throat. You may have started carrying a water bottle as a way to control your food intake/trained drinking water as a boredom reflex.
This is literally just what I can come up with while I have a migraine. I'm sure there's plenty more reasons.
Give the kids reusable water bottles. Make sure they know to clean them regularly. And shut your judgemental mouth and drink your damn water. Maybe you'll be less grumpy if you're adequately hydrated.

So, I used to live near this business, and while their stock is incredibly variable, it's excellent quality and pricing. Linking directly to the dyed/tanned hides section...
https://www.hideandfur.com/inventory/Buckskin.html
This is a company based out of Idaho (yes, there's a Moscow in Idaho) that is extremely focused on only using animals that have been legally killed from wherever they were sourced. And they do their best to sell every (non-food) aspect of any animal they receive. So, if you have ethical concerns, hopefully they can be assuaged.
Hopefully that will be helpful for you in the future!

BUNNI update: makin' a space-themed body harness out of thrifted belts and purses because I can't get white leather straps or fabric for love nor money out here for some reason AND the belts and purses come pre-cut and pre-pierced! Putting a lining on the inside of some of the pieces rn, finally figured out how to do a backstitch!

Caveat: the following is a cynical opinion pulled out of my ass but based on the observations of various things I've read/heard over the years.
"To reform prisons, fund rehabilitation programs, and outlaw predatory practices by telecoms."
That, above, is precisely why they don't want convicts to have the right to vote. "They" being the "white collar criminal" who makes loads of money off the prison-industrial complex. Prisons are a money making scheme for those that own/control them. And those are the people spending money on the propaganda that encourages the general populace to think that allowing convicts to vote is a bad idea. Because it's cheaper to spend millions on ad campaigns/propaganda than what it would cost those people if prison reform happened.

You know what, since I'm thinking about it anyways, let's talk formalwear accessories. Most of these are traditionally menswear but a bit of gender fuckery is good for the soul, and frankly most of these are about making your mass-produced clothing fit and lay properly without having to go to the tailor.
Shirt stays: these go around your thighs to hold your shirt down, so that it stays smooth and tucked in. They're usually elastic, with 1-3 clips, and if you wear skirts frequently this is a GREAT way to make sure your top doesn't ride up. The clips will be visible if you're wearing something tight, so loose pants or skirts are where these do best. There's also an insane version that clips to your socks, but that is for lunatics. If you wanted, you could also use one of these clips to hold up thigh-highs.
These do a great job of smoothing and narrowing the waist area by keeping your shirt from bunching there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sleeve garters: usually metal, leather, elastic, or silk. These are usually worn with button-down shirts to adjust where your cuff falls on the wrist or hand. They're properly worn on the upper arm, and you pull the fabric of the sleeve above the garter until you cuff is where you want it. Because this creates a puff of sleeve at the bicep, it also broadens the appearance of the shoulders. It's great if you're working with your hands or if your sleeves are often too long for your preference.

Waistband clip or belt adjustment clip/buttons
Three different ways of tightening the waistband of a pair of pants or a skirt. You're not going to get more than an inch or so tighter without weird bunching, and for most of these you'd want them to be hidden under a shirt or jacket, but they do the job if that's something you're having issues with.

Collar pins: There are so many fun ones out there, both with and without chains. They're not terribly practical, though the slight weight may help keep your collar where you want it. Also consider collar tips, which pin (surprise) to the very tips of your collar points.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sweater clips/guards: meant to hold your sweater or cardigan mostly closed. Great if your cardigan doesn't button, or if you don't like it to be buttoned all the way.

There's tons of other stuff out there like this--etsy is a great place to find this stuff. A lot of these are old solutions to the very modern problem of mass-maufactured clothes not being as one-size-fits-all as advertised, but they're also a fun way to put a bit of personality into businesswear.

The small print: your new hyperfixation will inadvertently trigger 3 new or adjacent hyperfixations in me. And like fractals, we spiral out of control very quickly as we ping off each other.

ADHD thought process in a nutshell.
I always called it "island hopping." As in, you crossed over to a new island mid-conversation and there was no obvious bridge (for everyone else) connecting the two topics.
I'm now tempted to start just saying "here's your sign" instead, as a multilayered reference only I will get.

Damn. This is beautiful. I very much want one. And now I'm debating material types and construction methods to make it work. Spring steel boning for the stiffness of the feathers that still have some bend in them? Gotta keep them light enough to flare up like wings though, which might be hard with that much boning.
There's also clearly something special about the chest harness and that center attachment point. Need a method to keep the "feathers" stacked up properly when the cape isn't flared. And do we rely on wind resistance to flare the wings up, or is it more of a mechanical nature? Maybe activated by a gyroscope?
I really don't need another art project. Damnit.

Tim's wing cape appreciation post, one of the best-looking robin equipment items in my humble opinion.
It doesn't always look good when stationary, but when it fly it is so alive with motion. Beautiful.

You were the caretaker for the mythical beasts of the royal family. Yesterday they decided to replace you with some incompetent noble, before kicking you out of the castle. You then spent the night in a nearby forest. However today you were awakened by the beasts who chose to follow you.

just wanted to wish you luck with the emdr! it worked great for me despite being self-administered (not recommended, but nhs waiting lists)
Thank you. I've done EMDR for the Other Horrors in my life, and it works well for me (even if it's harrowing to begin with).
I'm pairing it with somatic movement therapy because part of my trauma/masking response is to completely freeze up internally while pretending to be completely fine outwardly.
(can't show emotion! my emotions are Too Big, and that makes me Annoying for others to be around, so I will simply not experience them. I'm sure this is totally fine and will have no lasting repercussions on my mental and physical health ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ… oh what's this? it's multiple immune disorders coming in with steel chairs!!!)
So, I'm learning to flail around to give my body something to do with all the adrenaline after EMDR sessions. Weirdly, that's almost harder than the actual EMDR.
There's something weirdly visceral about Kermit flailing to music in front of your therapist 😅

So, basically, being human is monstrous.
Which, if you follow the idea that God created man, and did so with these base desires intentionally, then you have to assume that God intended for man to be monstrous.
Take another step down the path of blasphemy and consider the claim that man is made in God's image. So, if man is monstrous, doesn't that mean God is also monstrous?
Vampirism is like what if your desires were bestial and monstrous and if you gave into what you wanted and satisfied your needs it would destroy everyone you love?
And being a priest is like you have to believe all of your perfectly normal human desires are evil and you are absolutely not allowed to give in to pleasure or god will be mad at you.
