Hello everyone! As many of you know, I’m Miles, and I’m a college student! I’m making this post to let you know that if you like my style, and you have a character you want sketched:

I’m your guy

I’m opening up my sketch commissions, and as per the graphic above, here are my prices:

black and white headshot: $6 USD (or 2 ko-fis)

colored headshot:  $9 USD (or 3 ko-fis)

black and white half body:  $12 USD (or 4 ko-fis)

colored half body:  $15 USD (or 5 ko-fis)

At the moment I have three payment methods available:

I can draw OCs belonging to you or I, fanart of established characters, you or a loved one, you name it! The OCs don’t have to be human, I can work with monsters, aliens, robots, anthros, etc.

I will not draw anything expressing a hateful or offensive ideology (no TERF shit, no racist/antisemitic/homophobic/transphobic caricatures, etc) and I cannot draw in a hyperrealistic style - what you see is what you get and what you see here is my semi-cartoonish style. :P

I would appreciate a ref for commissions of yourself or your OCs! If you do not have one (say, you’ve never made or acquired art of your OC but still want me to draw them) then I will accept a description in its stead. Ref of established characters is appreciated but less important to give because I could google them.

I can only accept payment through Venmo! I ask that the price is paid in full up front. I cannot offer refunds, so if I get something wrong in your commission, I’ll try my best to redraw it– I’ll also try my best to send progress updates as I draw. Your commission might look a little different than what’s above, since I’m still working on solidifying my art style!

You’re allowed to use the piece I draw for you freely, as long as you credit me somewhere!

I reserve the right to refuse a commission, whether it’s something I won’t draw or not.

Don’t claim that you’re the one who drew it! I’m utterly terrified of art theft, so doing commissions is a big step for me. Please treat my wishes with respect!

Please don’t debate my pricing! I’m okay with discussing, but if you try to forcefully make me lower the price or do the commission for  exposure, I will refuse to do a commission for you.

Hey yall my teeth are hecked up and I have an estimated $10,000 bill (’: if anyone can help share or donate, that would be great. 

it’s been affecting my immune system and explains why i’ve gotten sick twice for a whole month each this year. i haven’t gone back to work because of how sick i’ve gotten, and for obvious covid reasons. so getting this all fixed should hopefully help my immune system build back up on top of just getting bad tooth shit fixed.

Actually, now looking at it, the statement 'i don't ship it, but nice art' isn't exactly nice. Don't like it, don't say anything. As a creator myself, I wouldn't want someone saying that.

“I like how it looks but not the content” and “I like the content but not how it looks” feel the same and throw some pretty rancid vibes, let me tell you

To Anon about constructive criticism and compliments, is it really calling “i don’t like the ship but I like your art” really ‘constructive criticism’? It doesn’t really sound like it. It’s more like a back-handed compliment imo.

There is a difference between constructive criticism and being rude. One community I'm in has a system where you compliment, offer a way to improve, and then finish with a compliment. Example: I love the way the colors work. The eyes are a little off, here are some references. Your line are is nice.

I think I see what you're saying. If you like the art (fic, story, whatever), say you like art and leave it at that. If you can't leave it at that, don't say anything at all.

It’s that simple! 

How something was produced and its content are two different things.

I feel this in my soul. I wrote a rare-pair fic and had someone anon comment variants of “good writing but hate the ship”. Every. Freaking. Chapter. It was just like “why are you here then” and it kinda unmotivated me a lot bc rather than anything helpful it was just... this.

I think its a person by person basis. You cant ask the entirity of anyone not to say something even if it is rude bc people are gonna say it anyway. As a professional artist i want all artists to try their best to ignore all comments that hurt their feelings. Its not worth your time to think about! Your a good artist and whatever that person is saying doesnt matter. Delete if you can, block if you want. Ignore if it hurts your feelings.

Yes, I agree that rude comments are inevitable, but that shouldn’t stop anyone from trying to educate others about proper social and online etiquette. If you say nothing, nobody will learn.
