Vampire Fic Poll

I'm currently (slowly) writing a sequel to mine and LordValeryMimes' RD AU vampire fic and in the course of this, a question occurred to me which I thought would make a fun poll (and hopefully kickstart my fic-writing brain).

You do not need to have read the fic; all you need to know is the following. We have a household consisting of (to be clear, everyone is there of their own free will):

Count Arnold Rimmer, the vampire owner of the house

Dave Lister, his vampire lover

Frank Van Todhunter, their human lover

Krytfield (Kryten, a non-human creation)

Senor Gato (the Cat), mostly human but also a werecat

A hostile strange vampire wants to get into the house. It's already been established in this universe that vampires need to be invited into homes owned by humans, but what if the home in question is owned by a vampire?

This isn't a vital plot point as I have ways of getting around it if necessary. I may or may not use the winning option or I may write it completely differently. Just wondering which option people would find most intriguing / funniest / most dramatic etc?

rough fic idea

Since @allsortsofsmeg brought up again a one-off fic idea I once mentioned …

So Rimmer comes back from being Ace, has worked through nearly all his personal shit and has decided it’s time to try to seriously get to know Lister and proposition him. Only when he returns, he finds his place as ship’s hologram has been usurped by Todhunter’s disc … and he and Lister have the ol’ push-n-pull in the sack going on.

And BOY, is Rimmer pissed. Here he went through all this soul-searching about his sexuality, his preferences, getting over his class hangups - and Lister just booted up Toddy and got to work (presuming they’d found another hardlight bee to use)! Only - Rimmer can’t really be visibly angry about it, because he left, and Lister basically chased him off to go be Ace, and he wouldn’t have done that if he’d WANTED Rimmer around, and … and … and CLEARLY Lister gave him the bum’s rush so he could divert ship’s energy to another lightbee for boot-knocking.

Fic idea

Rimmer as Ace turns up to rescue an alternate Lister from mortal danger, only to find he’s been pipped to it by Kochanski! Ace. They grudgingly work together to rescue him, complaining the whole time, and comparing notes on how the only common thread in the multiverse is Lister’s unerring ability to find trouble. Naturally it all ends in a delightful threesome.

Headcanon that Cat has a very direct way of dealing with Lister’s drinking binges. When he thinks he’s had enough, he just starts knocking his drinks off the table onto the floor.

“What are you doing?!”

“I’m a cat. It’s instinct.”

Lister in every episode

To be fair, I suspect the ‘gay ray’ was the brain child of certain members of the cast, rather than Rob and Doug.

Rob and Doug and the cast have mentioned various episode ideas over the years which were never made in their original script form for various reasons. In some cases they exist as storyboard animations; in others they evolved into episodes which were significantly different.

Which of these episode ideas would you most like to have seen in their original form as proper TV episodes with all our regular cast?

*He lets Epideme infect him (by being either bitten or kissed by the dying Lister) but instantly deactivates his light bee and the virus is blasted by a bazookoid.

(I don't know which method of infection was planned as Epideme uses both in the episode.)
