The anime made the chapter where Loulan trades the hairpin a moreso mixture of "so long, farewell, zaijian, goodbye" and 🎶we're on the road to nowhere🎶.

When I first read it in volume 4 it felt more like Shisui saying "I'll be back for that cat" with ominous villain music playing.
