Koala (Bear) / Teddy (Bear)

A koala bear, or teddy bear, is a queer man who is generally small/short (though not always), chubby, and hairy or “fluffy”. They may also just be called “koalas” or “teddies”. This term can be a subset of bear or cub depending on who uses it. Koala bears may range from moderately hairy, to very hairy, and can be any age.

Koala bears are generally soft, and/or prefer a more gentle or “cute” presentation, similar to a teddy bear (hence the names). Koala bears are a blend of this and rugged masculinity that is often found in the bear subculture.

Keep in mind that those who fall under the definition of this term do not have to use them. The bear subculture is a diverse one, and being soft/cute/etc. does not mean you have to use a subterm. This is an option for those who want it and feel comfortable with it.
