Vex'ahlia watched her sister in law claim the space she has just cleared away, then letting her gaze fall as she told her that Vex was family... And suddenly she was missing Vax, that hole inside her chest seeming to hollow even more and the familiar pang of pain returned with a force she hadn't expected. Vex blinked away the moisture that suddenly sprung into her eyes. "Thank you, Cass. Really, not just for looking after me but accepting me. It means a lot... you mean a lot, especially after losing my brother. And of course this isn't supposed to replace him but. It's nice to think of you as a sister..." It was embarrasing really, but she needed to say the words before the grief for her brother swallowed her whole. And it helped to ease they pain just a little bit. Enough for Vex to breathe again.
She reached for the tea cup to take a sip, give herself a reprieve and a moment to clear her head after vulnerability. "Your method sounds much more efficient. I should that it into consideration. I'm just concerned that well... I'm still a little new to nobility. The Grey Hunt is easy enough to mange the financial aspects? Not so much." A chuckle. " Sorry, you brought me food and I'm being a downer."
A sigh of relief followed as Cassandra revealed that Percy had eaten despite falling asleep right there and it made her chuckle. „Well, fuck. We might actually need to take a bit of a break before we seriously cause some damage to ourselves.“ Vex would bring it up to her husband and he would like the thought even less then she did… There was still guilt for leaving Whitestone and his sister after escaping the Briarwoods and she suspected it would always be there. „Thanks, Cass. For keeping an eye on us and taking care of us…“ She put her cup down and started to clear away the ledgers and papers and calculations the huntress had been working on to make space for the tray and she gestured to a chair for Cass to sit on. They might as well get comfortable. „That is true. We don‘t get to do so many things… If you don‘t mind asking. How did you do this all on your own when we went adventuring. There‘s so much to do even between us and the council work seems to be never ending.

"I don't think you are in a position to snub enterntainment, darling." Vex'ahlia raised an eyebrow at his commentary but refrained from making a comment about bitchy nobility again. "Well, it's a lot more then just a romance novel, I'll have you know. I would offer to read it to you but if you're already snobbing it I should just keep it." Her voice softened in teasing. "I got some toast, butter and some apples. I could also make some soup but I will need to head to the market in a bit to stock up. I just didn't want to leave when you were still fast asleep and the others had gone out too."
Tumblr media
𝐏ercival scoffed quietly and on his face appeared a small pout as he heard that, well she was right he was kind of... bitchy noble. His eyebrow raised at the book... His hands gently grabbed the book and noticed the title.
〝 𝐈s that a romance novell .ᐣ I will admit not my personal favorite but well since it's a gift from you I might give it a try. 〞
𝐇is hands went through few pages curiously , just glancing over the words a bit curious what specially it is about before placing it down on the nightstand.
〝 What is there to eat .ᐣ I think I could enjoy some food... I haven't eaten for a while. 〞

Vex laughed at his comment and simply shook her head. „I don‘t think you‘re a prick… more like a privileged bitchy noble.“ She winked at him, then pulled the blanket back straight a little more to make sure he was securely tucked in. „It‘s not like we could leave you here on your lonesome and this might be a good time for Trinket and I to get some rest too.“ She pulled out a tome in a blue leather binding. ‚Tusk Love‘ was printed on the cover. „I‘ve been meaning to read this for a while now. I brought one for you as well if you feel up to it. I‘m also happy to just read out loud.“ She figured Percy would start going stir crazy sooner rather then later and one could only be miserable for so long. Time needed to pass and Vex was happy to provide some options. „Once you‘re done with your potion. Feel like trying some food?
〝 𝐓hank you... and also please tell my thanks to Pike and Keyleth as well for providing me supplies for my recovery. 〞
𝐓he gunslinger replied softly , letting out soft groans as the pain in his muscle didn't wanted to wash off. He glanced towards Vex now who was preparing something for him to drink... well it would be appreciated to finally get rid off his dry throat.
〝 𝐈t would be quite ridiculous if I would have said that I would love to have one glass of wine right now , right .ᐣ Maybe alcohol for sickness not the best. 〞
𝐇e coughed once more , before sitting up again this time slowly and carefully resting his back against the pillows.

She gently shook her head. „I won‘t be rushing to meet you.“ It was a promise, even if it was a hard one. She couldn‘t leave before her time, Vax would never allow her to do that or forgive her if she attempted to meet the Matron of Raven early because she wanted to reunite with Percy. „With all our children and friends… I will love and be loved in turn plenty of times, darling. That‘s something you don‘t need to worry about but I don‘t think I will find another partner in this life. I can manage a human life time without you, love.“
"Mhhhm." She hummes into the kiss as she can feel him smile. "You better." Vex'ahlia whispered as she drew back and leaned into his touch, turning to press another kiss against his palm. "I don't intend on doing anything but spend a long, fulfilled life with you... And you better wait for me on the other side, de Rolo." She breathes in shakeyly. "Honestly, the thought of spending even a while without you here... it scares me."

Vex'ahlia was kind of relieved that her sister-in-law came to check on her and not her husband. Percy had every right to berate her, had she done the same to him when he was stuck in his office or his workshop. She didn't want to admit to being tired or take a break until this paperwork was immaculately executed. "I know but this is important, Cass. For your... for our home. I'm trying to distribute funds as best we can and still have emergency funding and not dip into the vaults for that but with repairs the last few years and dragons trait is slow..." She stopped when Cassandra sat down a whole tray with goodies and just sighed. "Did I really miss dinner? I didn't mean to. I'm sorry. Did Percy at least make it. I wanted to actually make sure he gets food and forgot time..." Cassandar's action touched her so she relented, taking the cup of tea and sipped at it. The taste was welcome and she could actually feel her hunger. "FIne. A break couldn't hurt. Will you join me?"

"You can tell them yourself when they come back. Darling you're sick not dieing." She chuckled finding it a little endearing. Vex switched over from sitting in her chair to the edge of his bed as he took the juice from her hand. "You will need plenty of fluids and rest and some meds but you will be fine." It was supposed to be reassurance, just wanting Percy to feel a little better if she couldn't help with his pain right now until she got him to drink one of Pike's potions. "Not rediculous, you won't get any from me but I do understand the need to get drunk when things feel like shit in the hope of numbing them." Still it was a terrible idea, Vex popped one of the potion bottles open instead before she helped him get a little more comfotable as he leaned against the pillows. "There we go. This should hope."

Vex tied the robe's belt around her hips and chuckled as she heard him stammer. She was very fond of Percy and felt pretty comfortable around him. It seemed however that walking in on her changing had put the usually so well composed Noble out of his depth and she found this circumstance very amusing. "Percy, darling. Breathe." She walked towards him and settled her hands on his shoulders. "It's alright, you couldn't have known and I find it kind of adorable... Are you blushing?" She teased with eyebrows raised, a smirk forming on her lips. Oh she was goiing to enjoy this. "Well, did I interrupt your brilliant mind that much? Really, I thought more of a person as smart and well mannered as you are." A chuckle escaped her lips. "You weren't bothering me at all, darling. I just changed clothes, it's nothing bad, it just happens. You don't have to be so flustered by this."
Oh gods she followed him! This was not supposed to happen! But he stops anyways as he keeps his back turned and trying to avoid staring once again. A dark blush is obvious across his cheeks along with the tips of his ears.
“I’m sorry— trust me I didn’t mean to stare! I’m so sorry Vex’ahlia” he stutters out trying to control his fumbled emotions while trying to look at anything but her.
“I didn’t mean to bother you… honestly I forget what I even wanted to ask you” he says finally loosing his train of thought as he looks ahead. He should really shut up shouldn’t he?

Vex pulled his blanket back up to his chest, hating how his face contorted with the constant ache of his muscles. This certainly didn't look fun but she wasn't about to leave him alone. "Don't worry about it, darling. That's what you got people who care for you for." She watched him caugh, desperately thinking about how she could get him to feel at least more comfortable. "I know and it's not pleasant. Rest is the only real thing we can do though. I did however bring you a few things to hopefully help you feel better. Kiki left some herbs, Pike potions in case your fever gets out of control. We will be fine, you just worry about feeling better." She smiled and produced a glass of orange juice, hoping the natural sugar and vitamins as well as just hydration would help him settle a little more.

𝐏ercival slowly laid back down in his bed as he listened to her , hissing slightly at the pain , his body still upset about him suddenly sitting up. His one hand moved to touch his forehead , all sweaty and burning hot. He was having fever... he was having muscle pain and trembles... he was questioning in his head what sickness did he caught.
〝 𝐓hank you , Vex... 〞
𝐒mall dry cough had eacaped his lips , covering his mouth with his arm so that he wouldn't accidentally cough on her.
〝 𝐈 never been sick like that... my whole body just... hurts- 〞

@fenthrasandbluefeather continued from here
Cassandra had brought not only the cup of tea, but a small tray of things to go with it. Sugar, a container or cream, the pot of tea itself and a small plate of treats were still all in the woman's hand as Vex turned and realized it was her sister-in-law in the room with her.
"You've been here all day with no break. You'll run yourself into the ground at this pace, and I am speaking from experience." In the days of Vox Machina still traveling Cassandra had taken to being the main person in charge of the goings on of Whitestone, and after everything with the Briarwoods she had done everything possible to prove she wasn't a traitor to her people still.
"You are allowed to take time for yourself even though it doesn't feel like it." Her voice was soft as she looked at Vex and then noted the untouched plate of food. "Eat something, you already missed dinner too so I'm not leaving till you eat and drink something."

05. placing a cup of tea or coffee in front of them. - from Cassandra
@proelio-procusi
Vex yawned and rubbed over her eyes. Nobility came with work... and a lot of it. She was up to the task of course and in true Vex'ahlia fashion felt like she had to proof herself to the Whitestone council and nobility. Outside, the hour had grown late, the sun already dipping behind the horizon and Vex has been on her desk since the early morning hours, a plate of bread and cheese and fruit sat abandoned to her left, though the pitcher of water had at least been drunk from a little. Her vision did start to blurr half an hour ago and she was sure Percy would come looking for her soon. "I'm alright, dear. I just want to finish this up..." She said as there were foodsteps, the opening of a door and the thump of a mug on her desk. Vex expected Percival when she looked up but was greeted with his sister. "Cass?" She asked a little confused, looking at the dark liquid, it smelled herbal. Tea? "I'm sorry I was assuming you were... nevermind. What can I do for you? And thank you for the tea?"

The rest of Vox Machina set out on a multiple day journey for a bigger mercenary job then expected but that meant leaving Percy to his own devices and Vex'ahlia did not want to risk leaving him alone in the state he was in, so she volunteered to stay and take care of him. Now he was dreaming and it didn't seem pleasant. She hated to see him miserable like this. Vex leaned over him, pulling his blankets up to his chest and gently kept her hand there. "Easy, darling. I got you..." Though she pulled back quickly when Percy suddenly woke up and sat up straight. "Wow, careful there." She smiled at him. "I've been here for a little while. I wanted to bring you some juice and food but you were out cold. And don't worry about me being here. I will be fine, you just focus on resting alright? I brought a few supplies to hopefully help make you more comfortable. Pike left some medicine as well."
care, sender takes care of receiver when they're sick. (for Percy)

𝐏ercival couldn't remember how long it was since he had been sick like that , he doesn't even remember when he last time was sick. He was ordered by his friends to stay in the bed and that they could handle small bounties while he is not with them. He wished that it would last maximum two weeks... how wrong he was.
𝐓he sickness was still having hold on him , making him tremble and shiver , murmuring something in sleep.
〝 𝐍-No... No... No .ᐟ 〞
𝐀nd suddenly he woke up and sat straight up which his body didn't approved at all , he could feel pain in most of his bones. His focus shifted towards Vex'ahlia who was sitting on the chair next to his bed.
〝... 𝐇ow long have you been there .ᐣ I hope not too long... You can get sick as well. 〞

Vex chuckled. "I think Vex is fine, just this once. Though I do enjoy when you call me lady, Grand Sire de Rolo." She liked any way he called her, trutly, though she qouldn't quite admit that to him yet. Her head leaned against his arm, feeling a little bad that he gave up his warm coat for her sake. She didn't want him to feel cold as well. "Percy. Stop." Her voice clearly amused. Her hand pushing down his arms, back onto his thighs. "This is more then enough, thank you, darling. The coat is helping to warm up quite nicely." She reassured him as the hand retreated back under the cobalt fabric. Vex kissed his cheek. "You are too kind to me. It's alright really." She smiled though liked the idea of Percy getting her a proper coat, especially with Winter in Whitestone being as cold as they are. "I think I wouldn't mind a proper coat though."
02. wrapping a coat around their shoulders from behind. ( From Percival )
Vex'ahlia froze for a split second, hand twitching towards her bow and quiver but the warmth and the familiar smell of gunpowder, pine and a sunny winter's day enveloped her and it made her sigh and shiver. She closed her eyes and instinctly pulled the too large coate a little tighter around herself. It felt like comfort, like a hug even without actual physical contact beyond his gloved hands brushing over her shoulders as Percival wrapped it around her. She hadn't realized how cold the weather had gotten and that the sun was nearly gone behind the horizon. Playing the waiting game wasn't exactly her strong suit but. Vex sighed as her cold hands held on to cobalt fabric. "What did I do to deserve this treatment, dear?"

Vex'ahlia sighed. The day had been long and tiring on top she just wanted to take a long bath and then fall asleep in her bed. She undid her quiver and cloak as well as her belts and started to unlace her tunic. The soft fabric slipped to the floor and pooled beneath her feet before she stretched and turned towards the door with a long sigh. She genuinely hoped the hot water would help the ache in her calves and shoulders from their latest adventure. Before Vex could reach for the soft robe. There was a single knock on her door before it opened and a white haired tinkerer stepped into her room. She froze, robe in hand, though the rest of her torso bared. Then she saw it was Percy and kept moving, shrugging the robe on. "Yes, darling? what was it?" Though the interaction turned a little awkward as Percy kept staring, Vex raised an eyebrow and then he started apologizing and dashing out of the room. THe half-elf sighed and tied the robe around her hips before following him outside. "Percy? Stop, it's alright!"
☾ = being found shirtless. (for Percy)
“Vex I wanted to—” he enters only knocking once barely giving her time to do anything as he walks into her room. Eyes growing wide as he stops in the doorway, staring her over as his lips part to say something but he’s stuck staring.
Tumblr media
Right he’s staring… staring a bit too long there Percival!
“Gods- sorry- I’m so sorry!” He says already hurrying out and shutting the door.

"We both know that I'm the responsible one between the two of us, brother. If someone is going to keep you from doing stupid things it will be me." She corrected him with a grin. Though he had a point they would always look out for each other. She rested her hand against his on her shoulder and nods. "Alright. I think I can live with that but please." Her eyes turned serious. "Vax, don't play hero, don't take unnecessary risks. I can't lose you."
"I'm going to protect you." (for Vax)

“Shouldn’t I be telling you that?” He chuckles looking up at his sister. A gentle hand rests on her shoulder as he stands up.

"Of course we will. And we will make sure to find a few good trades and deals for the materials we still have from my hunts and your... pickpocketing adventures." The last bit was said with a strange look of respect in her eyes. She did admire the way her brother seemed to be able to aquire things they needed out of the pockets of strangers. And in desperate times none of the twins were below stealing the things they needed. As the walls of the city started to enclose them she shuddered... leaving Trinket in a clearing never sat well with her but now that they entered civilization, Vex became cautious and nervous, dreading the judging looks... cities were Vax's domain so she stayed close to her brother, her blue hood coming up over her ears just the same. "I could go for some ale right about now." Liquid courage would at least lessen the sting that the seperation from Trinket a little though the name let her hesitate. "I don't think even we have sunken that low yet, brother... and I do recall the gluttonous cube had the worst ale we've encountered yet. A wonder no one walked away with food poisoning from that place..." Though there was no time for her to finish that thought as tumultous sounds started up towards the back of what looked like an adjurning marketplace. "Vax!Trouble always brings more trouble. Didn't you learn anything.." She cursed her reckless brother as he was already moving. Vex followed though, close behind, ducking behind a wall as she saw someone throwing a punch in the crowd.
"Between the two of you, brother, I think you are the one who needs a haircut." Vex turned her head, looking over her shoulder and winking at her brother. "Don't listen to him buddy, you are perfect just the way you are. We will find you a nice creak and then you can splash your uncle all you want." She waited for Vax to catch up to her, then she shoved his shoulder playfully. "Well, it's really their fault if they can't keep their wits about them when I'm simply being friendly and inquiring about their prices. And my haggling has paid for your drinks more then once before." His hint of pride made her stand a little taller a grin on her lips and a wink in his direction. A perfect intimidation of her flirting tactics with the poor merchants that dared to catch her eye. "You wish you were the pretty one you overgrown ego boost. I'm the fun one and I got the looks. You just have the remarkable ability of being ignored by people." Vex'ahlia bought into his tease, an equal grin on her lips as she flipped her braid into his direction with a pointedly arrogant sway to her hips. As the path they were following wound to a road she heavily sighed... stopping and taking Trinkets face in her hands. "Stay in the clearing, buddy. We won't be gone for too long." The bear gave a sad moan but he was used to it by now. Leaving Trinket made her uncomfortable but this was specifically to make Vax happy and his comfort after the injuries. "Remember when we had to break out of that Prison in Westrunn like two weeks ago?" She asked with a raised eyebrow, highly unimpressed with her brother. "I'm sure someone is in need for curiers of something. We also need some anti-venin. Running a little low on non meet rations too... you need a winter cloak, my bracers are starting to frey too so I will need some thread to fix them. Wax for my bowstrings and strings too. I'm on my last one."

Vex'ahlia sighed, rubbing her eyes. She'd been sitting here for hours, trying to get the wording just right. Laws were tricky, too many ways to lay them out if there wasn't a clear and precise way to articulate them. It was hard enough to defend it against the rest of nobility but returning aspects of agriculture away from the council and back to the people would lead to a wider positive investment for the council in return. People didn't see it though. It had been quite a lot of work to get them to sign the law into existence and now it needed to be perfect. Beside that paper lay the books of Emon, as she was coinmistress of the council of Tal'dorei as well. People depended on her and her knack for finance and the yearly report was nearly overdue. When her eldest son had come in to see her she didn't want to dismiss him just outright. There was always space for her children and they learned that from a very young age. Though she didn't like the tone he was taking with her. "You know, I thought I raised you to treat others with kindness and respect not with demands, Wolfe de Rolo." Her tone was sharp, clearly letting her son know that she didn't appreciate being talked to like this but the words held no anger towards them. A simple reminder of who she was and the position she held despite being his family. Her quill scratched through the last couple of lines. Fuck it. It wasn't like she could focus anyway. She missed her husband desperately but he had taken Gwen on a trip to visit Keyleth in Zephra as there was buisness to attend there and he wouldn't be back for another fortnight. Vex always got a little work wild when Percy was gone despite preaching the opposite when he was home so technically, Wolfe was right. She rose and adjusted the bodice of her dark blue dress. There was no need for armor today and yet she did take her quiver and slung fenthras over her shoulders. "Well then. If you demand it, let's head to the park."

" you know, you'll be no help to anyone if you run yourself into the ground, mum. " his voice was steady, even as he leaned hard against his mother's desk to peer at the papers she was going over - papers she had been going over for days now. wolfe knew how hard his mother worked hard, harder than most in her position would, and he respected her for it. but he also knew that sitting around in her office for days on end, enough that even aunt cassandra had noticed? she needed a break. " come on, get up. " when wolfe was a kid, he wouldn't have dared try and order the lady vex'ahlia de rolo about, but he wasn't a kid anymore. besides, whitestone and tal'dorei both would survive a few hours without her tireless effort. the cleric pushed off the desk, and began towards the door, calling to his mother over his shoulder. " i can't in good conscious let you waste away in here over a law that's waited a week and can wait a week more. we're going to the park. "

"Fine, Caleb." She shook her head at this rediculous zemnian wizard Vex already started to grow fond of. "Though I firmly belief that if you hold a title you should be adressed accordingly at least once a day, regardless of the adressee being a friend or a stranger." A chuckle followed "But I'm sure you are right. And don't worry, the bear is far more intelligent then he seems." Her arm looped through his as Caleb showed her into his tower. "Tonight sounds like a good idea. I can't stay away too long or Vesper is going to complain. I did promise her a bed time story today." She smiled fondly at the mention of her young daughter. When Caleb seemed excited at the prospect of their sorcerer friend she raised an eyebrow. "He is a close personal friend of all of Vox Machina. My late brother was especially fond of him." If Vesper braught joy to Vex'ahlia's eyes, the mention of Vax'ildan softened that joy into something like melancholy... she still missed her brother dearly. "He is in the process of expanding his shop in Whitestone it just used to be a spell circle leading to his shop in Emon on certain days but he is going to make that permanent. I'm sure he would enjoy talking shop and I can certainly make introductions. A fair warning though, he is a flirt. A respectful one though.
"Don't get me wrong, Master Widowgast. I quite enjoy the trials and tribulations required by political mindgames, especially because I usually am quite excellent at maneuvering through them but tonight I feel like friendlier company is in order. There will be plenty of time to outsmart other dignitaries in the morning." She unraveled her legs, putting them both straight on the floor as he stood and offered a drink. "I would graciously except your offer." Vex smiled, a bit of giddy excitement as he offered to show her his tower. "Do you think your tower could offer a warm fire to a bear? I don't like keeping him cooped up in his talisman for too long." Of course if he would oppose to Trinket within his space that was alright with her and she would just release and take him for a walk after returning from this little stint into a magicians tower. And it would be a lie to say she wasn't curious. "I would be happy to host you and Essek within the castle. You will have plenty of things to explore and clash heads with my husband about the advantages of magic over technology or the other way around. But you are always welcome to summon your tower if it's your preferred home, though the city does hold quite a few marbles. Gilmore might enjoy meeting you as well." Vex chuckled and stood. "Shall we?"
