The idea of Ciel being this poor innocent child who is just a victim of his evil butler is SO funny to me.

Yeah, his stories a tragedy. Shit has happened to him. But even sebastian is shocked and impressed by how fucking evil this kid is. Hell, when he first tried to trick Ciel into breaking the contract he was in AWE over how revenge driven and he is. That boy wants BLOOD.

He murdered a bunch of kids and blew up the place to cover his tracks cause he was having a PTSD episode.

He was fucking cackling during the whole debacle with tricking his friends into joining a boy band so the opposition would hurry up and murder someone.

He's a sadistic little shit as well, needlessly playing mind games with everyone he meets. He casually joked about killing his favourite author to his face after framing a guy for murder in the most dramatic and entertaining fashion possible.

I mean, a kid at school tried to bully him, and he DESTROYED his reputation.

At age 10, he was already trying to torture and piss off a literal demon as much as possible.

He treats sebastian like a dog. For fun.

Sebastian is a pawn, and yeah, he'll encourage the ideas that are more likely to give him a tasty meal. But 90% of the time, Ciel is already going for it.

people don't talk about it enough so i would like to mention how absolutely sickeningly sexually charged this panel is

while theres an explicit sexually predatory hunger in sebastian's eyes as he gazes into ciel's mouth (which is where he claimed ciel's soul from in the anime), there's something between wonder and fear within ciel's eye as he stares into sebastian's mouth which is intentionally drawn to be seductive here—his fangs aren't large the way they are in the infamous green witch arc scene or the jagged perspective we see in the next chapter, his lips are plump and shiny, tongue slightly visible as he smiles. this directly contrasts ciel's mouth, smaller and not perked up, surprised and either injured (implying oral SA) or dirty (signifying how he was abused). either way, it denotes that he's "defiled"...

and yet as sebastian smiles and says "i shall claim your soul as my reward", his desirous gaze is pointed at the sullied mouth, eyes dripping with want.

his victimhood has not lost him any appeal, sebastian wanted him from the moment he set eyes on him. and even with the shock/fright in his eyes, there's a sense of awe in his stare too, as if sebastian's seductiveness/beauty somehow softened the blow of having his soul being taken away.

I absolutely adore how this new arc was clearly tailored to put Sebastian to the test. EVERYTHING in the hotel is there to antagonise him in his role as One Hell of a Butler.

The staff? Oh you mean the EXPERTS in tending to the clientele? The ones that are FAR SUPERIOR to a mere servant? Sebastian twitched

But surely even these experts will have their limits, after all they're just humans, unlike Sebastian, right? Well...

Apparently not, the human ability to invent new things to improve our lives got him good.

But not only does the Hotel come for his superior set of skills, it also tries to undermine his pure and pristine "aesthetic as a butler".

A semi suite? For the staff??

His beloved job slandered and filed away as "an inconvenience"??? Preposterous!

And not only is he tested and mocked by the staff at the Hotel, but his very own master decides he couldn't possibly miss this tasty opportunity at rubbing salt in what he knows is an open wound to him. We all know Ciel never fails to tease and wishes to see his perfect butler fail in something just for the heck of it!

The whole situation is putting him under so much stress that he slips up, his eyes change and he himself proposes to just be done with this place already-

And look how disappointed he is in learning that no, they can't simply maim and kill and destroy the place, which is extremely funny but let's take a step back for a second and remind ourselves of the fact that Sebastian has always acted as a voice of reason to Ciel

He reminded him that burning the house down and killing all the trapped children was NOT part of their orders from the Queen. He tells the audience that he has no interest in acting like a beast because what he loves is playing his role as Ciel's butler.

Of course he ultimately executes all of his master's orders, but he never proposed a violent course of action himself. This is huge. This Hotel truly pissed him off and quite literally made him see red. All other narrative arcs focused on Ciel but this?

This is personal to Sebastian and it's only getting started.

thinking how sebastian has canonically admitted he sometimes teases ciel by delaying responding to his call, even in genuinely dangerous situations, because he loves the desperation in ciel's voice when he's calling for sebastian repeatedly. like. who is doing it like these freaks. nobody. 13 year old satanic ritual abuse survivor and his emotional support demon obsessed with eating his soul turning every life or death situation they're in into a weird bdsm game that makes everyone trying to kill them profoundly uncomfortable.

black butler post seb devouring ciel's soul, and eventually sebastian forgets what ciel looked like. he desperately tries to cling to that era of his expansive life. no portraits taken of ciel survived. his clothes ruined, sold, lost. his manor belongs to someone else, and was preserved in a time after ciel. now it looks too different, too foreign to the original manor.

victorian antiques are becoming sparse. funtom toys no longer sold. he spent that boy's entire short life by his side. what remains of it now? a couple of pages in a history book. why would they remember a child-noble who didn't even live to 15?

but sebastian does remember. he remembers the candle he was holding, providing the only light in a room shrouded in darkness (because he was asleep, and he had called him. he did that often.) sebastian sits on his bed next to him, too far to truly see him. but always that unspoken feeling between them, a language only they spoke.

his head is turned, facing away from sebastian. he doesn't need to see his face, the distress evident in the way his body trembled. his hands shake the most, and sebastian does remember that pure, aching need to clasp both hands in his in the hopes he would be able to still that awful trembling.

but he didn't. he continues to shake. a piece of his slate coloured hair falls, concealing him further from sebastian. he knows that in this memory, the head doesn't turn, but he's so close this time. he can almost remember, but the boy will not turn his head. sebastian, in desperation, finally reaches for him, but that transgression causes the memory to end abruptly.

he is alone again.

sebastian having his old situationship show up and embarrass him in front of ciel is so funny .. even funnier is how hes clearly only worried because he can tell ciel is getting angrier the longer he thinks about it
