The only emotion I feel right now is pride.
To others, we may have failed. But not to us.
This was the last Madrid derby played at the Calderón, and we won the match. Imagine going back in time and telling the Atleti players that we would beat our bitter rivals in our final derby at our beloved stadium.
It was also our final European match at the Calderón. Despite not progressing to the final, we lost in the best way possible - with our heads held high, our badges worn with pride, and our voices singing our lungs out.
The team gave everything, and that’s all that matters. Tomorrow I am going to wear my jersey and know that it’s no walk of shame. I feel nothing but pride when I wear this shirt.
