"In a week" I say as I upload it a day later. Anyways, here's my funky little mixed media project I did for @homebodieszine ! Like I mentioned in my last post, it was a real out of my comfort zone project but it ended up pretty much exactly how I imagined it.

There'll be more commentary and thoughts below the cut if you're interested in reading! (spoiler warning for several endings of the game)

So first and foremost,,, I started it back when I first got accepted. Really, it took me a bit to get a solid concept but I couldn't stop thinking about youtube horror, specifically "this house has people in it": I wanted to do something that started off lighthearted but then gradually fell apart, just with a 'happier' ending. So after some debating, the idea was to make a comic about the astronomers and the gradual degredation of Sybil, all the while they're playing M&W

This originally had a waaay different script. I don't remember what most of it was but besides page one, everything got changed. By that point I was on vacation so I couldn't actually work on the art itself,, this would come to bite me in the ass as I focused on artfight instead. BIG MISTAKE !!! I crunched out pretty much everything in two weeks, besides the physical props.

Which, speaking of, the table, chair and obv Sybil herself were all made with random shit I found around the house, foam clay, unholy amounts of hot glue and a lot of prayers. Originally Sybil's hair was supposed to be made of string but I only had this rough green string so that wasn't possible, I think the drawn hair makes her blend in a bit better anyway.

Honestly, I was really scared of how it'd all look in the end but people had the reaction I hoped for so I'm very flattered ^_^

Last thing I was unsure about was characterization, I actually have some notes about the characters written,, somewhere. The designs are from my old line up (which I still really like !) but personality wise,, mostly pulled from the few bits of dialogue the astronomers have. Admittedly, I could've also pulled from the exalted four but decided to mostly stick to their individual dialogue (plus some implied stuff from the xin amon ending) for obv reasons.

Making Aster flip his shit is mostly based on the idea that he prioritizes the Visitor over the other astronomers,, after all, he's the one that worships it while becoming xin amon's hands and is the only astronomer with no dialogue about the others (<- I KNOW THATS LIKE. RLLY META . BUT SSHH SHH LET ME GIVE THIS MAN SOME SAUCE). Is it ooc? Maybe . but i got convinced that that's fine so blehh :PP

The others stay pretty loyal to their in-game appearances. Beryl worries for her friends, especially Jasper. He on the other hand is 'erratic,' as she called it, after Sybil stopped responding to him. And Aurelius is as soft spoken as always (+ also cares a lot,, that's why I think Beryl and him are rather close! Oooh another hc ooooh)

There's sm more I can say here, with the way I interpret the astronomers' personalities and what not but that's not what this is about. In the end, this was just a self indulgent dive into said interpretations while also pushing my poor pc to its limits.

I had a good time and everyone in the server was wonderful. I really appreciate the feedback I got and I was smiling big time at all the reactions I got to pages 3 and 4 LMAOO

I will post my comic in maybe a week or so! Oh man you guys have no idea how anxious I was about it, it was very out of my comfort zone and had me using a lot of mediums I hadn't really combined like this before.

I love mixed media and I hope to find my niche in it eventually :"] I'm considering to make a webcomic in this style someday for my own ocs but rn that's staying in the back burner while I get thru college prep, self studying and a backlog of art wips. Stay tuned I suppose!

I'll talk abt their backstories + in game mechanics below the cut!!

Nicolas & Donnie

A couple who met at their shitty office job. Donnie was at the neighbors' when Nicolas witnessed the visitor, causing him to lose his mind but not turn just yet. He only did so after attacking Donnie who had just come back, tearing off his arm and mutating along with it.

Nicolas felt horribly guilty for tearing off his spouse's arm (obviously.) Said arm, though, is still fully controlled by Donnie and works as any arm would. So now they're awkwardly bound together by arm tongue!! IDK LOL!!!

They both remain lucid but start going mad when they're separated #lovewins!!! Nicolas becomes more feral while Donnie gets increasingly paranoid.

In game, they'd both be npcs with their own apartment, similar to Jeanne, Harriet, etc. You could probably beat the shit out of them for loot but outside of that, I don't exactly have any ideas as to what they'd be useful for LMAO maybe I'll make them party members later :P

Nettie & Iridis (not pictured)

Nettie is a package deal with a friend's oc (we're doing this together cuz I infected him with my LO brainrot), who's referred to as Iridis here. She also works at the same office as Nicolas and Donnie, the three of them are friends.

Nettie woke up to the TV being on one night and got out of bed to turn it off. Being as curious as she is, she caught a glimpse of the visitor as it showed on screen for a split second. This immediately caused her to turn and so she locked herself up in her room as to not hurt anyone

Iridis, her roommate"l, checked up on her the next day only to be met with incoherent gurgling. This went on for a few days until they inevitably had to leave to find resources and help.

In game, you can encounter Iridis at Sam's door. They'll ask for supplies and if you give them a healing item, they're able to be recruited to your apartment. Once they're in your party, you can safely enter the room Nettie resides in and get her to kind of compress into a smaller form like Leigh. If you don't have Iridis with you, breaking open the door to her room will result in her being a mini boss. Iridis refuses to join your party if you kill her.

For their combat style, Nettie and Iridis are inseparable like Xaria and Monty (might change that though.) Iridis is the tank who pulls attention to them and deals average damage, while Nettie is a glass cannon who can reach crazy damage numbers but shatters in only a few hits. She has a passive thorns effect which takes up her hat slot (can't wear hats with a bunch of horns on your head), so in case she does get hit, there's still damage output.

I THINK THAT'S KINDA BALANCED !! I never made a game so bear with me,, They're sorta like a split up Joel.

I'll be honest that my interest in look outside just got kicked out by that beastly deltarune hyperfix that just refuses to leave, accompanied by my love for my ocs . It's been kinda hard to get back into the fandom again but the 1.5 update might just do it.

Still I got things to finish and art fight next week so I hope to get into the swing of things again. I finished all my RL businezz so no more stressing about that !
