Both believed in the rebirth of a fictional character, though one emphasizes a more inclusive/wide range of emotional and spiritual bonds one has with a character. Heyyy so if you’re HIGHLY kinning another character a lot but is already a Toonix of something. Plus! If you change your personality does that count your a fictionsync? Apologies if that didn’t make sense

I think I understood; sorry if my response doesn't answer your question!

Yes, you can be both a Toonix and Fictosync. As for the personality changes, that often has to do with your sync type and sources! Even if your monosync (sync with ONE character), depending on how diverse your sources are, you’re personality can shift!

For example, I’m a sync and kin of Petey The Cat, but I have two sources of him; a mexican immigrant AU, and the original books and movie. Though they are mostly the same, there are differences in how they see the world. And depending on which source syncs best that day, my personality might shift!

This is the same if your polysync (sync with more than one character). Its vastly different for everyone. Some might feel like they are ALL their syncs at once, a few at a time, or a different one every day. Sync shifts could also be triggered by different things, like music, current events, your emotions, gender fluidity, etc.

Ways of further connecting

So! You're a Fictosync or you've decided to go by that label, and know your synctypes. Now what? Well, if you're ever interested, you should try and connect more with your sync type! I've come up witha list that have helped me, and might help you. Of course, there are probably more ways than what I've listed below.

Self-exploration; not of your synctype, but of you! What’s the history of your culture? What’s your family’s history? How do you act around certain people? Why do you do the things you do?

Research of this character; it’s okay not to be a total expert on your synctype! Look up your characters’ inspirations, model sheets, history, voice actors (if any), official art, fun facts, etc.

Using parallels/allegories between you and this character, for example, let’s say your character has shapeshifting abilities, and you just so happen to be gender fluid. You can parallel those facts. Another example, your character moved away from a bad place, and you left a bad relationship. You can find ways to parallel or connect allegories for many instances you and your character have.

Investing yourself in media regarding this character, similar to research, but this is based more on actually watching shows, reading books, and interacting with fandom! Fanart, animation memes, etc.

MAKING media of this character to better fit you; obviously, your synctype won’t always 100% match you, no matter how many parallels you make with them, and that’s okay! You can create your media that might depict your character as different from the original source, but feel closer to you. For example, you have a lot of piercings, but your character doesn’t, or dislikes them. So, you make media of them NOT disliking piercings, or maybe getting over that distaste. Think of AUs to match you, if that’s easier to understand!

Chilling and letting your mind take its course; do nothing! Just acknowledge you have a synctype, and do nothing with that information, and go on with your life as that character. Who knows, you might just feel a closer connection!

Potential Signs of being a Fictosync

Kinning and/or identifying with/as a character, but having that strong connection later on

Might initially kin and/or identify with/as a character for the sillies, only for there to become a genuine connection

Have the same triggers as synctype

Have the feeling that certain things affect you more because of your synctype

Have changes in synctypes in certain situations; for example, if you’re stressed and need a break, a connection with a synctype that is often associated with comfort and relaxation might become stronger.

Associate certain things in your life that remind you of your synctype, and/or source/s

Have actual memories that your synctype and/or source/s contain

Take mischaracterization and/or misinformation, even if unintentional, personally

Feel almost dysphoric when you’re referred to/seen as another identity; for example, you might be called by a name that holds an identity you don’t feel is completely yours

Reminder that this isn't a list you need to check off the be considered a Fictosync! These signs are just some I've personally felt. Again, a specific label for a specific person won't fit everybody.
