on a more emotional basis, i realized that i only had a passion for becoming like utena - not necessarily rping as her. utena has been my very own superhero since i was very young and it's so difficult writing as someone i have wanted to be myself for so long. i'm not entirely sure if this makes sense, but it's because i've tried to connect with utena for so long that i simply can't put myself into her perspective. it's also a bit of an emotionally difficult time for me simply due to the stress of jury week (music evaluations at conservatory), final exams, and stupid shit boy issues. now don't get me wrong - i'm fine. i'm stressed and a little more upset than usual, and that's all.

I’m going to bed now so this explanation will probably make absolutely zero sense but I will do my best to try and put this into cohesive words.

So basically a prominent theme of Utena has to do with sexuality. Many of the characters are quite young (Utena is 14 in the anime) and can be identified as bisexual. The act of intercourse is often symbolized by very subtle elements and the gif I reblogged is simply one of those moments in which Ikuhara slips in the element of aromantic sexual relationships.

Essentially the ingenious bastard is throwing in a major element in Utena’s prince-like attitude and showing that she isn’t some whorified teenage girl (excuse my language). Even though she gives into the temptation of Akio, Anthy, and possibly Touga, she is still as pure as ever. She stands strong and stoic even when people try to defile her both emotionally and physically.

I have no idea why I thought it was so funny when I saw it I really can’t explain that part tbh. I hope this made some sort of sense! ; u ;
