“No one ever talked about Robin Thicke after the VMAs of 2013. It was all my fault and I was the one who was acting like a ‘slut’. And that isn’t the only example of a woman being put in a box. Not because I was expecting you to do the review in drag, a kimono, a dirndl, a belly dancer’s outfit or any combination of the above, but because you’ve probably found the ideal outfit for any woman who puts herself in front of a camera in the name of journalism or entertainment.
When you said “We don’t know what we want, and it’s apparently way too much to ask that women either have a certain body type or dress a certain way without being judged for it, so two options: burka or slut,” I felt that rush that you get when you read an op-ed that so perfectly sums up everything you’ve felt and believed but were unable to phrase effectively.
