why aren’t there more fic writers in the dnp community 😔 yall are out here pulling the work of a thousand soldiers ✊🏻 we need you to encourage more writers and let the phannies know its okay to join in!!

What can you do to encourage more writers in phandom? You can reblog fic. You can talk positively about fic and fic writers. And most importantly you can step up and step in whenever you see anyone say that fic is weird or cringe or embarrassing (or worse) because these are the stepping stones to purity culture catching hold and people getting out the pitchforks.

Because I’ll tell you why there aren’t more phanfic writers. It’s because we have been consistently vilified, bullied, and even worse, by some groups within the phandom.

Many writers in this community have been traumatized by the treatment of fellow phannies, some to the extent that they’ve stopped writing or being active in phandom altogether. What’s more, these bullies are Still here, and if they see this they might even say, “Good. We wanted these people to suffer and we still do.” I can only speak for myself, anon, but as the phandom picks up momentum again I am constantly worried when next some asshole is going to decide that what I and my friends do is “problematic” and deserves to be shut down.

(Ftr I will not be hosting any kind of discussion about this. Fic is fantasy, even RPF fic. Fantasies don’t hurt anyone. Dan and Phil know this and have only ever been supportive of All forms of artistic expression; they even Wrote fic themselves and published it in their book.)
