“Yes thanks you.” She said taking one glass and tilting her head “That dress you described sounded lovely, do you like fashion and making dresses or is just a dress you imagined and liked?”
“I just imagined it - I wish I had the time, money, and skills to make it though.” She replied, giving a slight bow to her as she took the drink. “Enjoying the party?”

CHARLOTTE TILTED HER head as the brunette described her dream dress, a wistful smile pulling at her glossed lips. “you certainly have a vision,” she commented, her own sleek gown rustling as she moved closer to the girl, eyeing the glass of champagne that was just out of reach. “magic. i like that. call me a pessimist, but all i can see are a bunch of stuffy outfits and uncomfortable shoes.” she’d been groomed for this type of event since she was a child, and she’d done more than she could count know that she was the marchioness. “i’d love some champagne. i think i’m going to keep you close for the time being, these things are horribly boring when you’re less than three glasses in.” she teased, grabbing a flute gratefully, taking a long sip as she looked around. “is this your first big event? you seem quite excited.”
“Oh, thank you, your grace. That means so much, I mean - look at the dress you’re wearing.” Jenna couldn’t take her eyes off of the other’s dress - it was so beautiful, expensive, and otherworldly. It was everything Jenna wished for, but she wasn’t sure she could pull off such an extravagant look. “Stuffy outfits? How can something like that be stuffy?” She wondered aloud, still appreciating the dress for everything it was worth. She’d take a stuffy dress and uncomfortable shoes that looked like royalty over the uncomfy maid shoes any day. “Of course, I’m happy to accompany you - the champagne makes me popular.” Jenna joked, glad for her presence. “No, no, I’ve worked here for years - I just love these sorts of things.”

rcrymac:
Rory was only half paying attention to the conversations around them. When escaping to an empty hall wasn’t available, keeping to the less crowded areas worked just as well. It was nice sometimes to just observe and hear the chatter. When they were a teenager, they quite enjoyed the gossip passed on by maids and butlers not too careful. Now, Rory still enjoyed the hum of it, but it didn’t pursue it often. Words got them in trouble too many times. And Rory didn’t want to go back to that life. The warm buzz they had also didn’t help in such matters, either.
“Huh?” Rory glanced around, worried they missed something important. “Did you say something about cotton candy?”
“A cotton candy dress! Light and airy and that shade of bubblegum pink - not really made of cotton candy though - that would get sticky!” She laughed, offering a glass of champagne to the royal. Jenna hadn’t met Rory officially before, but she’d seen them around often enough to know that they were a very smart princess. Rory seemed to spend a lot of time in the libraries - all of the maids and servants knew that. “Care for any champagne, princess? Or any other drink? I can run back into the kitchens and get you anything you fancy.”

alfiecollier:
Alfie couldn’t help but smile as the girl tried to find her words. He shook his head. “Honestly, it’s fine. You seem like you get very stressed around royals.” He noted, a chuckled on his lips. “Oh well, you see I can’t forget it now, it’s stuck in my brain. I might just have to talk to your superiors about this one.” He teased, laughing a little at the end to let her know he was only joked. This was one of the worst things to Alfie. Watching someone become beside them selves just because of the family he was born to. It was disgusting to him. Nothing made him any better than the girl standing in front of him. “It’s a pleasure to meet you acquaintance , ma’dam.”
Jenna blushed at the comment. Royals did stress her out, especially non-Genovian ones. She was intimidated by their gloriousness, their greatness, and how they seemed to wear it so easily. Dreams of wearing the pretty dresses and having a chance to do whatever she pleased - that would be nice. “If you talk to my superiors, will you also ask them if there’s a chance of updating the uniforms? I think I’ve worn this one since I joined here like ten years ago.” She joked, her usual smile back on her face. “Ma’dam, I could get used to that. Where do you hail from, hm? I can never get all the countries straight.”

henridelacour:
Henri had a hard time trying to imagine the dress she described. It was in part because he didn’t wear dresses or pay much attention to the detail of them but also in part because she was a very happy maid. Of course everyone wanted to be royalty and royalty-adjacent, but he wasn’t accustomed to someone admitting it so brazenly. “That sounds like a wonderful dress,” he said politely. “Thank you.” He took a flute off her platter, but before he could drink from it, his eyes caught hers and his brow furrowed as he stared at her.
To be complimented by a royal was something that made Jenna’s smile grow even bigger. “Thank you, your grace.” She replied, absolutely bubbling with excitement and nearly toppling over her tray. “And you’re welcome, enjoy your drink!” Jenna added, starting to turn away. However, his eyes met hers and his brow furrowed, leading Jenna’s brow to furrow right back. “Do I have something on my face? Oh god, that’s embarrassing.”

Alfie’s eyes grew wide as the girl replied, instantly shaking his head. “Oh no, no apology necessary. I was just a little shocked. Really you’re fine, so no worries. And please, call me Alfie. I’ve never liked not being on a first name basis with people.” He smiled brightly at her, hoping she didn’t think she was going to get into any trouble.
“Oh, sorry - I mean, not sorry? Sorry. Shit.” Jenna said, before covering her mouth. “I don’t think I’m supposed to curse in front of royals. Forget I said that.” It would be a miracle if Jenna made it through the night without being fired. ( Luckily the staff had been putting up with her for years, perhaps it was her infectious smile that kept her with a job and a place to stay. ) At his kind smile, Jenna stuck out her hand to him. “Jenna. It’s a pleasure to officially meet you, names and all, Alfie.”

“I know exactly what I would wear to this party if I didn’t have to wear my uniform. It’s this beautiful pink dress, and it would be real delicate and made of that sort of tulle-stuff? And there’d be silver accents on it, and it would sort of just blend right in with my skin on the top, like a nude illusion, but then the skirt would flow out and have a nice spin to it, it’d be like I was floating on a cloud of cotton candy, you know?” Jenna said excitedly to anyone who would listen. She was more than thrilled to be working the birthday party, but she dreamed of one day wearing a ballgown fit for a queen. “I think everyone looks so beautiful tonight - it’s like magic.” Remembering her job, she held the platter a little higher. “Would you care for any champagne?”

“have you met the maid that seems to walk in at the most awkward times? or does she just pick me to make me feel as awkward as possible. i mean, last time she walked in when my head was stuck in my shirt, and she just completely ignored me while I stood there frozen.” alfie laughed, shaking his head. “i mean, it can’t just be me, right?”
“I’d really like to personally apologize for that, your highness. I wasn’t really sure what to do, I thought maybe pretending like I didn’t see you would be a little better for your self-esteem? I - promise it won’t happen again, or at least next time I’ll try to help, or - yeah. Sorry, mister - your highness.” She rambled, feeling her cheeks grow redder by the second.

it had been a long time since he had been at an event as luxurious as one such as this. princess mignonette was the jewel of her country and that was on full display during her birthday. after politely doing the rounds with alejandro, he sat down to drink some water and calm his nerves.
“wait, watch out!” he caught the tray of a waiter just in time.
Although she was a maid by day, Jenna was staffed as a waiter for the party this evening. It was all hands on deck for an event as large as this one, and she was thrilled to even be in the presence of so many beautiful royals. In fact, she had been staring at a luxurious baby pink gown when she tripped over her own feet, and her platter went tumbling out of her hands. Luckily, someone managed to catch it just in time. “I am so, so sorry - holy cow, my apologies sir, thank you for - wow, I am - thanks.”

⋆ ° ⟡ ( ZOEY DEUTCH, twenty-four, female, she/her ) i saw JENNA PETERS GENEVIEVE DELACOUR working around the palace as a GENOVIAN MAID. did you know that they’re originally from GENOVIA FRANCE? i heard they can be quite NAIVE, but also GENUINE. there’s rumours they work at the palace because SHE ALWAYS DREAMED OF BEING A PRINCESS, but you never know. FLICKERING FLAMES, CROWDED BEDS IN ORPHANAGES, AND FRENCH LULLABIES always remind me of them. ( monroe, 22, est, she/her )
trigger warnings: fire, death, amnesia
dancing bears
Once upon a time, there was a little French Countess named Genevieve Giselle Delacour. She was an absolute beam of sunshine, running around her family’s large estate, wind blowing through her hair as her lace dress flowed behind her. She was always the first to make people smile, the first one to say please and thank you, and the first one to dance wherever music played. Her father, Jean Delacour, was a man who looked like he could be a benevolent, medieval king. Her mother, Elise Delacour, had blonde locks down to her waist, and loved nothing more than lying in the sun during the warm summers. Her older brother Adrien would challenge her to climb trees, to skip rocks in the river, and to race her out from the gardens back into the house. Genevieve Giselle Delacour had a perfect life, a perfect family, and a perfect personality.
painted wings
In the middle of the night, Genevieve and her family woke up to the smell of smoke. Their estate was aflame, the house beginning to deteriorate by the second. In the middle of the country, their house was harder to get to, and the fire went undetected for too long. Jean, Elise, Adrien, and most of the servants of the house escaped with minor burns. Genevieve hit her head while trying to escape, and after she exited through the back of the house, kept running and running until she fainted in the middle of a place she didn’t recognize.
The Delacour family found the burned body of a six year old girl in the ruins of their estate. Assuming it was Genevieve, the family grieved, and did not search for her again. ( The child they found was one of the servants’ own children, who had runaway from home not long ago. )
things I almost remember
When Genevieve woke up, she had no memory of who she was. She had run quite far that night, and after a couple of police officers found her, she was taken in to the nearest orphanage. When asked her name, she replied, “Jenna” - it was the only thing she could really remember from before. She had heard the other children telling tales of the lost French Countess - Jenna thought it was awfully sad that the royal family lost a child just around her age.
Jenna lived in a French orphanage for two years before being transferred to a Genovian orphanage with more room. The girl was just as bright and sunshine-y as before, even though she lived in less than ideal circumstances. However, her life only got better once she moved to Genovia. During a royal parade, the princess of Genovia invited orphans to join in the parade, giving each a tiara to wear as they walked amongst royalty. It was from that point on that Jenna vowed to one day work in the palace.
and a song someone sings
She began volunteering in the Genovian palace at the age of twelve, helping some of the maids clean the rooms and helping the kitchen workers clean dishes. She continued to volunteer at the castle until she was fifteen, and offered a job as a maid. Jenna was ecstatic, to say the least. She worked amongst plenty of other wonderful people, and when asked about her past she simply shrugged and said, “I don’t remember much of it.”
once upon a december
All of the royals from across the world seemed to be coming to stay in Genovia lately, and Jenna made it her personal goal to befriend as many of them as possible. There was no better way to make friends than to just talk to the royalty, and as she had learned over the years, sometimes royals just want to be treated like normal people. When a few French royals arrived, she remembered the stories she’d heard growing up, and decided it was maybe best not to bring up the subject. It had been many years, but losing someone is always a difficult topic, right? Still - something in her heart says that these royals have become part of her life for a reason, and she’s trying her best to figure it out.
other fun details:
Yes, Jenna is basically Anastasia, sue me
She loves with her whole heart, and very easily. She is very open about her emotions, and honestly is akin to a puppy in many ways. Don’t hurt her.
She has no recollection of her past. Nada. French royals, it would be unlikely that you would recognize her as anything other than a face they may have seen before - Jenna won’t know a single thing about anyone, including her older brother Adrien ( WHO IS AN OPEN ROLE PLEASE PLAY HIM, MESSAGE ME FOR MORE DEETS ).
She loves her job. Literally, nobody could be more excited about being a maid. Ever. In history. She loves it so much, and it’s all because of that one parade from when she was a kid.
Wanted connections include Adrien, her older brother; friends; co-workers; and honestly throw in a potential love interest just know that she’s literally a hopeless romantic and she will love you no matter what even if you’re a bad person, which is sometimes not a good thing for her, whoops. Also any other connection, I’m super down for!
