They would’ve kept falling in love again, and again for years, but when one of them didn’t make it, then they’ll just have to wait for whatever is after to fall in love again.

tst, page 31. — idk what really caught my attention in this scene, maybe the way thomas guessed what newt’s ‘codename’ meant and it’s a sweet reason. or just how i pictured thomas kind of going on his tip toes to pull newt’s shirt and read what was in newt’s neck bc he’s shorter

"I need to talk to you, Tommy. Just you. It'll only take a second?

What now? Thomas wondered.

"What's this crap?" Minho asked.

"Just cut me some slack. I need to give something to Tommy here. Tommy and no one else."

tdc, page 73. — the moment newt handed thomas the note. “tommy and no one else.” kind of sweet words to use when you’re abt to give someone your trust to end your life if it gets to the point. huh.

“Thomas jumped at the sound, then stumbled. New tipped over him, and then they were both laughing, legs and arms tangled in a pile on the ground.”

Hellooooo to the people who’ve read up to (and including) chapter 4 of my fic Paradise Lost:

I wanted to make a “brief” post to discuss some of the fallout and maze runner lore/“symbolism” I’ve used specifically in just chapter 4 bc I put genuine thought into that shit and I wanna talk about it lol

So first for the maze runner lore:

For those who aren’t the extremely over analyzing fans who might not know all the stupid movie details, Newt gets sick in a subway tunnel bc in my head that kinda correlates to a bus station (aka where he lost his marbles in the TDC movie lol)

I did have a commenter on chapter 2 asking if the story Newt says about how he lost his leg is true (given how it happened in the books) and yes you could say I “purposefully” set it up the way it’s revealed in chapter 4 because for funsies I’m wanting to keep this as “accurate” to the maze runner as I can lol. Nice that fallout medicine can literally heal anything <3

Also for those not overanalyzing everything, Brenda’s the one who shows up to save them because again that’s what technically happened in the movie

Minho got kidnapped bc I think we all know what the main dilemma in the TDC movie was lol

Now for the fallout lore:

Why did Brenda just happen to be there in time? Answer: fallout games have this thing called “random encounters” where stuff like random npcs or friendly creatures or fckin UFOs can just spawn in at random. A lot of these random encounters feature trader/sales type ppl so I thought that it would technically make sense for her to randomly be there lol

The entire crank fight scene also happens in a subway tunnel for the reason that a lot of fallout subway tunnels seem to be full of ferals and radiation for some reason 😭 so again it’s pretty accurate lol

Basically in fallout 4, there are legit a dozen+ incidents of real people being kidnapped and replaced with identical looking Synths that then basically act as spies for the company that’s making them. Yes these Synths are given prior agendas which they will then attempt to carry out as smoothly as they can, but they usually do just resort to violence if things aren’t working well enough. I should also note that just because someone’s been replaced by a Synth doesn’t mean they themselves are actually dead/were killed. Do with that what u will 👀

(Yes including that unfortunate friend I made at uni who was a full on trump supporter and no I don’t really consider us friends anymore ;_;)

Yeah I remember hating her as a kid bc “she betrayed them!!” And rewatching them now I’m like yeahhh she did but I mean, it wasn’t really out of malice and she even said “they promised we’d be safe” or something so like she genuinely did think she was doing the right thing. I just can’t hate her anymore lol it’s been decided

I’m also writing an entire au now where she 100% gets redeemed so that’s nice

really is bizarre the way fandoms largely do not like women at ALL. it’s been happening for ages but when you see people straight up just hating on women characters more often now (+ the general rise in misogyny) and then you come on here and everyone’s just pretending women don’t even EXIST in any media ever. it’s like that’s not much better. fandom isn’t activism but it does reveal people’s internal biases. like women being excluded, sidelined and erased in everythingggg. people will take characteristics that are compelling in a female character and give it to a man in fan content just so they don’t have to engage with a woman ever. fics, fan art, ships, etc. a hollywood produced movie/tv show won’t even sideline a woman as much as the average fandom blogger will

I can slightly speak on this bc I was roughly 11/12 when I first saw the movies and it was the first time I’d seen Thomas Sangster and I did fall madly in love with Newt (I’m a woman lol and I mean I was a child so I also didn’t even understand what shipping was or why people did it).

But then rewatching the movies last summer I remember legit thinking “oh yeahhhh people shipped him and Thomas right? What was that about?” And then lol I went and found out what that was about and, despite me now once again thinking Thomas Sangster is one of the hottest guys I’ve ever seen, Newt specifically in my brain is just straight up off limits bc not only was it confirmed he is actually gay but also he’s totally in love with Thomas and now to me he can only be with Thomas 😭

I can satisfy my cravings with Jack Dawkins lol

Newt is a gay man.

We get it. Thomas Brodie Sangster was hot as Newt, I don't disagree. But OH MY GOD, personally it really disgusts me how much people ignore his sexuality for the sake of their own desires.

To clarify, I in no way want you guys to stop shipping yourselves/sonas/ocs with fictional characters, I think that's chill and totally cool

But PLEASE, stop ignoring the fact that Newt is a CANON GAY MAN because you want him not to be. This has been getting on my nerves for a while. You can try and walk around the topic all you want, but point blank, you're *kinda* being homophobic here. You're ignoring a character's sexuality and that's not okay.

If Newt was a real person, would you do the same? If Newt somehow existed in real life, and was a gay man (because HE IS A GAY MAN), how would you act? Would you ignore his sexuality?
