Out of genuine curiosity why do you like Petra as a character? After season 2 idk why I just couldn’t like her as much as before so would like to get back to appreciating her character again.

HI ANON!!! first of all, you are so awesome for asking this, seeing people still open to appreciating a character even after not liking them as much anymore/disliking them is so cool actually

NOW. TO ACTUALLY ANSWER YOUR QUESTION. MIGHT GO INTO RAMBLE TERRITORY UHHH. also keep in mind I’m just some random freelance for fun artist on the internet, not a writer, or a professional character analyzer, so all this could just be complete incomprehensible nonsense from my mind lol. BUT ONTO THE THOUGHTS!!!!

finding out that not just you, but several people have come to not like her as much/straight up dislike petra during and/or after season 2 really really surprised me honestly!! season 2, to me, felt like it really expanded on petra as a character and as a person. It showed her flaws front and center through jesses eyes and it really made her feel so? human? if that makes sense? like her issues are REAL. and the way she handles them are REAL. AND MESSY. her clinging to the past, worried to lose her friends, and then her lashing out/shutting down when confronted with that is so. real. petra isn’t a perfect person by any sense of the word, and that’s what I love most about her. episode 1 season 1 shows petra through jesses eyes as this. cool badass lone wolf who could fight her way through just about anything without anyone by her side, and then that whole view gets broken down as the series continues. the wither sickness started breaking that closed off shell she had (whether it be the regular wither sickness OR the amnesia, they both break her down in different ways) to after the witherstorm/during the portal arc being her letting herself get closer to others. and then come season two, being quite a few years later and bringing forth the change and natural drift that comes from being closer to others who’s lives have changed drastically, of which petras likely never had to experience before, and thus the way she reacts being messy and imperfect. it’s so. yeah.

i don’t know if this made any lick of sense at all but. I just love her because of how real petra and her flaws feel as a character. I feel like I’ve never really seen someone like her represented the way she was in any sort of media. and i really!!!!!! adore her because of that!!!!!!!

obviously i like her for other reasons, from her design to her base personality and etc. but i think!!!! . how human she was written and how real her issues are, just!!! really hit close to me!!!!

BUT!!! YEAH!!!!!!! to anyone who actually read this far, you are awesome sauce I appreciate you so so much AND ALSO!!!! anyone else who wants to pitch in on why they appreciate petra n her character, feel free to go off in the reblogs!!!! let’s help this anon love petra again !!!!!!!!! every year for like almost 5 years? maybe over now? I’ve made silly Halloween designs for my current hyperfixation characters. SO. of course jesstra was BOUND to get Halloween-ified !!!!!! I LOVE CREATURING MY FAVS.

cool thing about Minecraft is that a lot of the mobs are already like. the usual Halloween creatures like skeletons n zombies n such so I took base game mobs that I think fit with these two n squished them together!

thought process behind wither skeleton Petra was obviously it reflects her withersickness arc, both just the regular withersickness AND the amnesia routes. but as such it reflects her character as a whole too, her resilience n such. also wither skeletons tall

for phantom Jesse, I think the phantom is a good reflection of the fact that she tends to put everyone over herself, caring for everyone else’s needs rather her own and as such neglects her own self care LIKE SLEEPING!!!!!! and thus! phantom was the mob I chose for her!!

also in a together sense, Petra being a creature that withers all living things she touches vs Jesse being a undead ghost creature who cannot be withered is YEAH. JESSTRA BRAIN. ANYWAYS YEAHHHHH
