Title: canines of the savior

Pairing: Zoe Foster/Mio Hudson

Summary:

"Nothing ever breaks your spirit, does it?” Mio says to Zoe fondly. ("It's not what it seems, Mio, please-" Zoe begs frantically. Mio points her katana at Zoe's neck, anger hardening the lines of her jaw as her voice gets low and dangerous. "Explain it to me, then.") Well, some things do.

Chapter ONE: the fall

Mio's subconscious is grim. Foreboding. All steel and smolder. Rough exteriors, ashen skylines and, not for the first time, Zoe feels like her very existence sticks out like a sore thumb in Mio's world. A weed that wasn't meant to find the crack in the concrete, but now blooms determinedly despite the adversity it faces.

She likes to hope that she's grown in a similar fashion within Mio's heart.

"What do you think?" Mio asks. She's gesturing towards the giant steel apocalypse-style bunker door that blocks their path forward, but Zoe is more focused on the way her hand moves, the way her index finger stretches out slightly as she points. Elegant. Graceful. Intoxicating. Everything Zoe wants. Nothing she deserves.
