DAY 21 (2/9): HOME OF THE BRAVE: UNDERSTANDING HOW ABANDONING OUR VALUES OUT OF FEAR IS BEING MISTAKEN FOR STRENGTH AND PATRIOTISM.

This one is personal and dedicated to the people I love.

We write this out of a need to understand why everyday this country feels like it’s on the brink of a civil war. And why the America we grew up loving so fiercely is deteriorating before our very eyes. Because, make no mistake, that in its current state, America does not feel any greater than it was before The GOP/ Trump Administration takeover. And I will call out the GOP because it is so important that the GOP’s complacency with the erosion of American values and principles is kept center stage as it is the key reason why all of this is allowed to persist. Granted, there have been a few members of the GOP who have come out to try to check 45, but by and large, the GOP continues to throw Lady Liberty under the bus in order to advance the interests of their donors, big oil, and corporate lobbyists, which makes them equally responsible for the current climate.

I, perhaps like many of you, have been gravely disheartened, not just by The GOP, but by millions of my fellow Americans in this country, who, justified by either extreme hatred, fear, and/or ignorance are slandering, insulting, and berating their fellow Americans on a daily basis in some of the most vicious bullying en masse that I've witnessed since re-watching the white mobs harass and attack black citizens during the civil rights movement. I less than 3 weeks, we've seen our global allies shun and mock us as they prepare to take over the role of being the leaders of the free world, a title the world does not believe we deserve to hold any longer. Proving once again, that fear does not equate to respect.

Personally, I have been a victim of this right winged bullying by some members of my own family who have relentlessly ridiculed me for being an immoral liberal who just wants all the terrorists to come in unchecked and are part of the problem allowing immigrants to "pour" into our country and take all our jobs. Despite pointing out our robust vetting system that is already in place and all the evidence/facts debunking their claims, it does not matter to them. Trump and Fox News has ingrained into their psyche that Muslim=Terrorist and immigrant=parasite. These same family members have questioned my faith and told me I needed to switch churches since my church did not outwardly support Trump (for context members of their church were fasting and praying for a Trump victory, while mine supported no candidate but preached a message of inclusion). My mother even told me during the election that she wants her future grandchildren to grow up in an "America that belongs to Americans," which was the theme of the Trump rally she attended. I must say that I am so disappointed, disheartened and ashamed that the people who I love and respect the most have abandoned not just the basic principles and teachings of Jesus but basic American principles that are the foundation upon which this country stands.

I've been trying to work through and rationalize why all this nationalism is so prevalent right now with members of my own family and throughout America. White nationalism is certainly one reason, but I am a logical person and I know most are not flat out racist or horrible people, and I don't think every single member of the GOP is racist either (except for Jeff sessions, totally racist!). What I see going on in Washington and with many Trump supporters touting their "patriotic nationalism," and some boasting of being able to openly call people "faggots, cucks, etc,” is a complete and utter abandonment of American Values. And if any Pro-Trump nationalist or GOP member ever wants to call into question what those values are, they can simply refer to the plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty, which reads: "… Mother of Exiles. Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, the wretched refuse of your teaming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost... to me." Or refer them to the Bill of Rights you know, the parts that talk about freedom of speech, of religion, that whole thing. This is what America stands for, these are our values, this is what we should be fighting to defend and working together to uphold anyway we can.

One of the things I'm proud of the most about America is when someone ask you to picture a typical American, it is truly an impossible task because there is no such thing. We are a melting pot or, if you prefer, the most delicious 20 layer bean dip you can find in the world. Our culture and our collective spirit is and always will be awe inspiring and impossible to duplicate because of the incredible eclectic mix of contributions in art, tech, cuisine, music, dance, film, architecture, literature, and because of the exchange of ideas and talents immigrants have brought with them from their respective countries of origin. Our strength is our diversity and is what makes America so great!

America may be the home of the brave, but at this pivotal moment in our young nation's history, we do not see the actions of the GOP, Trump supporters and enthusiasts as those of brave people. In fact, we believe they are quite the opposite. We see scared and frightened people who choose to cower behind their factless, tactless, baseless insults directed towards those who are standing up for American values no matter the cost. No matter what the issue is, healthcare, immigration, legislation, job creation, you name it, they are looking to take the easy way out rather than do what is difficult, acknowledging shortfalls and working on a compromise to address the issue resulting in long-term sustainability and success.

To be blunt, the fact that people would rather turn their back on their virtues and values instead of fighting to uphold them because it is the easy thing to do is the exact opposite of bravery. It is the opposite of bravery when a person gains strength and purpose from turning against and belittling their fellow citizens striving to uphold America's values. It is the opposite of bravery to "abandon ship" and dessert everything this country stands for in exchange for... what? The artificial sense of protection and safety that a physical wall provides? The false feeling of hope and job security one gets by restricting legal immigration, while leaving the fact that natural gas is collapsing the coal Industry, automation is reducing manufacturing jobs, and climate change is negatively affecting the agricultural sector unaddressed? The naivety of clinging to the promises of prosperity coming from the GOP pipe dream that big corporations getting massive tax breaks and loosening environmental regulations will trickle down as increased wages to the middle and low income classes ultimately solve the wealth disparity?

Actually, when you think about it, it's not hard to see why this is the attractive path many Americans have decided to go down, especially the GOP. It's easy to do when you are angry. It is much easier to prey upon and give into fear, than to offer or have the audacity of hope. It is much easier to place blame on one group of people for all the economic and wage disparity problems instead of admitting our failure to equip or train people for the changing jobs landscape/ demands. It is much easier to sit in and adopt a lie as truth than to stand up to the powerful liar in the name of truth. It is much easier to act in the interest of big corporations and lobbyists and take money from them than to take a stand in support of your constituents. And it is much easier to disregard and brush off the thousands of calls, emails, and protests from those constituents dismissing their concern as just agitators or professional protestors than to have to answers to ones actions (or lack of action) and change. For Christians it is much easier to hide behind the issue of abortion than to confront and speak out about the mounting ethical dilemmas and mistreatment of your neighbors whom you are instructed to love as yourself. It is much easier to try to rationalize misdeeds and unethical behaviors of those you've vehemently supported than to come out and condemn them or admit maybe you got this one wrong. And in times of hardship or uncertainty, it is much easier to abandon our country's values when you are afraid than to stand up and fight for total strangers and the injustices being enacted upon them.

In the wake of recent events, what I really want to say to people right now is along the lines of one of Sean Spicer’s finest moments when he said that if people don't want to get with Trump's program they should ship out. In reality if people don't want to get with America and Lady Liberty's program, maybe they should consider becoming a resident of a country that more aligns with their values... like Russia? (we hear it's lovely this time of year). But it’s much easier for us to go low with them, than to “go high.” And we are committing ourselves to not bash our misguided neighbors, but continue to fight for them, even though they will likely never appreciate it.

One closing thought we’ll leave you with. we’ll never forget when we were in Junior High School on 9/11 listening to President GWB (who, in 2 weeks, Trump has magically transformed into one of the greatest Presidents of all time) wisely warning us that we must not veer off our course as Americans and cast away everything we stand for today as a nation of immigrants because if we do, the terrorists win as they will have successfully destroyed America. So let me ask you... who in your mind is winning right now? For me it certainly is not America.

Some Sage Advice Circulating Around On How to Properly address recent issues. (Blame the GOP!)

1. Use his name sparingly so as not to detract from the issues. I believe that everyone, regardless of their beliefs, deserves the dignity of being called by their name. However, this is a strategic tactic. While we are so focused on him we are prone to neglect the questionable policies that threaten freedom, justice and fairness advanced by the administration.

2. Remember this is a regime and he's not acting alone;

3. Do not argue with those who support him and his policies--it doesn't work;

4. Focus on his policies, not his appearance and mental state;

5. Keep your message positive; those who oppose peace and justice want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies will grow;

6. No more helpless/hopeless talk;

7. Support artists and the arts;

8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it;

9. Take care of yourselves; and

10. Resist!

Keep demonstrations peaceful. In the words of John Lennon, "When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system’s game. The establishment will irritate you - pull your beard, flick your face - to make you fight! Because once they’ve got you violent, then they know how to handle you. The only thing they don’t know how to handle is non-violence and humor."

When you post or talk about him, don't assign his actions to him, assign them to "The Republican Administration," or "The Republicans." This will have several effects: the Republican legislators will either have to take responsibility for their association with him or stand up for what some of them don't like; he will not get the focus of attention he craves; Republican representatives will become very concerned about their re-elections.

2/8 Day 20: TIME TO DO WORK. DON’T JUST HATE, PARTICIPATE!

Apologies for the long pause. I’ve had to undergo knee surgery, which means I am currently pissed off and on pain killers, so posts might not be as frequent.

- RESISTANCE IN TRUMP TIMES -

With the election of Betsy DeVos as the head of US Education for the next 4 years, it is extremely crucial to not only keep an eye on #PresidentBannon and his puppet Donald, but to also keep tabs on those that are complicit in the dismantling of American values and institutions designed to protect and ensure the rights of those in our country who are the most vulnerable—The GOP. They have clearly showed where their priorities lie, which concern profits, big donors, and corporations, NOT the people who elected them. Just look at the voting record thus far.

In fact in the last few days there have been 12 pieces of legislation introduced that are made to benefit these donors and corporations and not the people. All are listed below, but some gems include:

Allowing coal mining companies to dump pollutants in rivers

Eliminating the safeguards in Dodd Frank requiring advisors had to work in the best interest of clients.

Terminating the EPA & The Department of Education. Just terminating it.

Allowing companies with history of workplace violations to issue contracts again

Allowing oil companies to legally conceal any foreign payments they make to governments

Not to mention DAPL and Keystone XL being rebooted again, despite the massive leaks that just happened in Iowa and Yellowstone last month.

Voting to eliminate the department that makes sure voting machines do not get hacked.

And the list keeps going. So there can only be 1 of 2 things going on here; either The GOP is wildly obtuse and blissfully ignorant concerning their constituents and what they want, OR they just DGAF… And based on what I’ve seen concerning their behavior, I’m going with the latter. Thank you GOP, can’t wait to book you all for the “Bye Felicia” 2018 Midterm Election Tour.

I know how you are feeling… OMG WTF are we going to do about this?! We cannot kick these charlatans out until 2018 and even then, the majority of the Senate seats are not up until 2020… But do no fret. There are plenty of things we can be doing right now to fight back and start reshaping the government to work for We the People, once again. Because the government serves at the consent of the governed, and the majority of this country DOES NOT give their consent to this.

1. Start with Your State Government Officials

Having a state government that is ready and willing to combat Trump’s horrific national agenda and stand up for you is a major key to fighting all this bullshit coming out of Washington. The State Government has its own executive (Governor), legislative (State Senators & Assembly men/women), and judicial branch (Chief Judge & Associates) as well. And with the GOP aiming to leave more issues to be solely regulated by the states, it’s more important than ever to ensure you have home court advantage where you can.

STEP 1: Assemble Your Squad! Get to Know Your State Elected Officials

Find out who your officials are. Look them up on Open States

While on the Site, check out their voting records and their websites to judge where they stand on issues.

Questionable Votes (like a YES on DEVOS?) Make a list to ask them about. This is where WE the people hold them accountable

STEP 2: Look Up When Your Next Local Elections Are Taking Place

Spoiler Alert! Some are happening in 2017!

Review the candidates, voting records, and their stance on issues

Save the dates in your calendars to remember to vote. REMINDER you can also request an absentee ballot if think you will be out of town

STEP 3: Attend Town Halls and Public Events Your Officials Will Be Speaking At

These are open to the public! And in the current climate you will not have to go alone! Find a local group to join at the meeting or bring a friend

This is where you and others can publically demand answers for previous actions they’ve taken and demand they support their constituents.

Speak Up and Speak Out at these meetings. Pre-write your statement if you need to

If the schedule is not posted online, call their office to receive the dates of town halls or public appearances

STEP 4: GET INVOLVED!

There are tons of political groups that are very active and help keep you organized with everything that is going on. Ya just have to Google it.

Some groups doing this now: Rise and Resist in NYC, United Thru Action, Indivisible Queens, moveon.org.

2. Make sure you get involved with groups working on issues specific to your interests.

There are SO many areas of concern this election it will make your head spin! Breathe, and think to yourself, what is most important to me and assert your efforts there. I joined a 2018 midterm elections group because I’m on the “I’ll be damned if this ever happens again” train right now, but maybe for you it’s making sure public education? Or law enforcement? Or immigration. No matter what the issue is, there’s an activist group for that. Get Started with the Resistance Manual and then Move on to Indivisible guide to find a group!

3. #StayWoke #FactsMatter!

Spread Truth and debunk lies. Stay informed and do not settle for BS Whitewashed excuses that try to defend the indefensible! Keep a log so you won’t forget. Sir Francis Bacon was not lying when he coined the term “Knowledge is Power!” Twitter is a great resource to help you keep up with all the info swirling around, following folks like: @cnn, @jaketapper, @NPR, @Indivisibleguide, @AP, @Ananavarro and also follow your Senators!

Most importantly you have to REMEMBER that there are millions across the country just like you. Heck I am one of them. I’ve never been involved in politics or local government, but in light of recent events, complacency is just not an option!

- #STAYWOKE 2017: THE CROOKED GOP IS FAST AT WORK –

1) Introduced House Bill to- TERMINATE THE EPA… not a joke, that is the name of the Bill. Because being blissfully ignorant about the sea levels rising and 2016 being the hottest year in history EVER will just make it go away.

2) Executive Order removing the safeguards from Dodd Frank meant to protect people from another financial recession like 2008. You know the part that says advisors must work in the best interest of their clients as not to take advantage of them? Gone. All this because Trump must take care of his rich “friends” who are having a hard time getting loans. Ya, I’m sure this was a core concern of the rural Americans who voted for you Trump.

3) The House voted to remove another safeguard that would forbid contractors with a history of workplace violations from receiving new contracts. Again, this will protect the Trump base for sure.

4) Republican controlled statehouses are putting forth bills designed to place limits on the rights of protesters everywhere! Moveon.org with petitions to stop this.

5) Senate voted to repeal the law requiring oil/energy companies to have to disclose payments they make to foreign governments which was a SEC Transparency Rule. This happens hours after Rex Tillerson, former CEO of Exxon Mobile, friend of Putin/Russia, was confirmed as our Secretary of State.

6) Introduced bill to eliminate the department of education, hours after Betsy DeVos is sworn in. Which might have been their goal all along by giving us the most unqualified and frankly uneducated of candidates (save maybe Ben Carson) to lead education.

7) South Dakota GOP voted to repeal a grassroots effort that created anti-corruption and ethics guidelines for their elected officials. Again, this was passed by VOTERS and now the GOP has REPEALED IT!

8) Arkansas Law now allows Husbands to sue their wives if they get abortions, even in the case of rape.

9) GOP has repealed the law that prohibited Coal companies from dumping waste into streams. Because Fuck it, it’s just water right?!

10) The House GOP voted today to eliminate the Federal Agency whose job is to ensure voting machines cannot be hacked.

11) The nominee for the FCC intends to fight net neutrality. What does that mean? The less complicated version is the government can charge you MORE for watching/streaming/visiting content Trump finds disrespectful to him at a much SLOWER speed than those he deems fair and honorable to him. Tis a MUST READ!

12) The hysterical Rep Sean Duffy (R-Wisconsin) who wants us to look at the “good” that came from the Charleston shooting and we should be more worried about ISIS than what happened in Canada. SMH. Add him to the list on Officials on the 2018 “Bye Felicia” tour.

1) DEMs standing untied and pulling all nighters to protest Trump’s unacceptable cabinet picks of Devos (confirmed yesterday) and Sessions (vote today!). They deserve a Thank You for this. This site makes it easier to Write to Congress.

2) Bill introduced in the House to block people like #PresidentBannon from just appointing themselves on the National Security Council. Which he has no business being on.

Day 15: (2/2)

I had a procedure done today so I'm a little banged up (so the resistance today is a little trippy and emotional lol.) But I still wanted to share something with everyone. Yesterday was the first day where it really hit me how special this movement truly is. As I was walking home, I saw a post from one of my fellow Rise & Resist members describing how he walked past city hall to find 5,000 people protesting outside... at a protest he had no knowledge of or planned. And it just brought a tear to his eye. (And mine, but again I'm on drugs so everything is making me cry RN). It's just amazing that every time you feel exhausted or beat down and have to take a break, you can be assured that millions upon millions of your fellow Americans are there to pick up exactly where you left off. And that is amazing. It kind of makes you feel like you're living in an inspiring sports movie set in the 1960's (Remember The Titan's Anyone?). Millions upon millions of Americans, strangers, of all skin tones, religions, genders, ethnicities, banding together to fight for each other. Truly special. And it's being noticed by more than just myself and my friends. Dan Rather's post today was also very telling (copied below). So when you need to take a break for a hot second and regroup, just know that we've got your back too. Never Give Up! Never Give In! "As the calendar shifts from January to February, the thermometer in most of the country shows the frigid digits of winter. But there's a chill in the air independent from the dead of winter. We are 12 days into the Presidency of Donald Trump, and we have had to endure more disruptions and tumult in our government than has been seen in a long time. Mr. Trump and his team clearly have a strategy to strike hard, strike fast and strike often. For some this is no doubt exhilarating as they view him as delivering on campaign promises. For others--the polls suggest the majority of the country--it is disturbing, even scary. Those who are signing up, amidst a flurry of dissent, for what is euphemistically being called "The Resistance" have a long, hard row to hoe. Turning a flurry into a groundswell is difficult. But that said, there is something emerging in this frosty air...which we can see with each inhale and exhale, a visual reminder in the breath one takes that there is life in this cold. Democrats are boycotting hearings. More than a thousand State Department officials have petitioned against the immigration ban (the one based partly on religion.) A Trump-friendly CEO suffered a damaging boycott. And then there is what is surging on social media, and in the streets. There is a growing social awareness coupled with political dissent. I'm partial to a term young people use--these protestors are "woke." Mr. Trump's firing of acting Attorney General Susan Yates for defying his immigration ban added fuel to the bubbling fervor. From the protest signs... to the memes, this movement is more than passionate; it is ebullient. I'm curious to see if we will witness a counter movement from Americans who support Trump. At least some of the Trump chaos will continue. His reputation as a kind of "Captain Chaos" seems destined to grow. With it, the drum beat of resistance feels steady, maybe even getting louder. And the wind whispers "this is the winter of America's discontent." -Dan Rather

Day 14 (2/1): Trump Said There Would Be A Shake-up in Washington… He Wasn’t Expecting It to Come From #TheResistance

Featuring: - The Resistance Report- Avoid Resistance Burnout Be Strategic- Upcoming Meetings/Actions-

It’s been almost 2 weeks since the inauguration and most of us have been protesting, calling, writing, emailing, and shaming our elected (and, in the case of #PresidentBannon, unelected) officials in the government like our lives depend on it… and they certainly do. Yet it seems like every time we turn on the TV, more and more demoralizing shit goes down which leaves us wondering�� is this even working? In the long term will this have any affect? And the answer so far is YES and YES!

This Report Is Dedicated to my Brothers and Sisters of the Resistance Movement. Their Amazing Resolve and Selflessness Inspires Me To Keep Fighting Every Day.

- RESISTANCE REPORT- WE’RE STARTING TO SHAKE UP WASHINGTON

The large scale protests are working and we are something #PresidentBannon and co didn’t plan for! And there are some pretty tangible FACTS of how #TheResistance movement is having an impact:

- Trump’s visit to Harley Davidson was canceled because they were afraid we would show up. They were probably wise to do so because we would have been there!

- We’ve woken up the Democratic party, to an extent, and given them the confidence on the Federal and State level to show some gumption and take on Tyranny!

State Democrats are pledging to fight Trump’s Immigration #MuslimBan EO. And Republicans Joined in as well! That’s right, Republicans! If you have a minute this week give them a call, tell them you are a democrat and you support them opposing the ban! We will need them to win.

The Senate Dems boycotted 2 votes of Trump’s Cabinet yesterday and Today they boycotted Scott Pruitt’s EPA confirmation hearing. The Republicans may have so shadily changed the rules to vote them on anyway, but the Dems digging their heels in is a good sign for the #resistance.

However, it’s not all peachy on the Dem side. These senators are still voting through Trump’s Cabinet picks. If these are your senators it’s time to pay them a visit at their offices, jam the phone lines and fax machines, and tell them to get with the program. NYC seems to have gotten Schumer on the right track by holding “What The F$#k Chuck” rallies and protests outside his house and office weekly. Let’s get these others into the fold!

- New York City Yemeni-run grocery stores will shut down from 12pm-8pm tomorrow in protest of the immigration #MuslimBan.

- Federal hiring freeze is reversed for VA (Veteran Affairs).

- Courts order Partial stay of the immigration ban for those with valid visas.

- Green card holders can get back in country… for now. Bannon still wants this in the ban.

- Uber pledges $3M and immigration lawyers for its drivers after #DeleteUber trends on Twitter.

- Obamacare (Affordable Care Act) enrollment ads are still aired despite order to cancel.

- The ACLU raised $24M over the weekend (normally 3-4Mil/year). So we can consider spreading the love now.

- HHS, EPA, USDA gag order is still in place, but EPA contracts and grants were released

- EPA climate data is no longer scrubbed from the whitehouse.gov website.

- More people of different career/religious/economic/race backgrounds are considering running for political office than ever before.

- MOST importantly, since we live in a participatory democracy, the people are engaged.

THIS IS WORKING! These Mass Protests are amazing, and the show of force that we’ve been able to display nationwide is insanely important when combatting #alternativefacts about: public approval, amplifying our voices, and passing this presidency off as polotics as usual! Continue to fight for what is right out of LOVE for our fellow citizens, LOVE for our neighbors, LOVE for humanity, and LOVE for our country.

-AVOID RESISTANCE BURNOUT: BE STRATEGIC & GO DEEPER ON KEY ISSUES!

For many of us, this is the first time we have EVER participated in activism at this level. Which is great, but, how do we make sure our efforts are actually going to bring about change? This is the million-dollar question groups all over the country are working on. Luckily we don’t have to re-invent the wheel because there are minority activists, LGBTQ activists, environmental activists, etc. who have been doing this for DECADES, and luckily they are on our side.

One thing I’m quickly discovering is that participating solely in events at the Macro level can A) start to fatigue you very quickly and B) bring about some small wins that give us instant gratification, but still fail to address the root cause of the problem (i.e. ACLU was granted a stay for the immigration ban, but it only prevented people with Green Cards from being deported. There will be a larger and longer fight that is needed to get the full ban amended). Local Level/ Grassroots Activist Groups affect policy change long term and allow for you to keep up the energy to fight over the next 4 years.

So how can you prevent Burnout?

1) Prioritize

I know FOMO is real, but you cannot go to every protest, every rally, every meeting, etc. (OMG I sound like my mother). So it’s important to pick and choose what you can make it to, while still maintaining your personal responsibilities and obligations. There are literally Resistance related activities planned every day for the month of February in NYC (full list at end of post). If you couldn’t drop everything and go to JFK or Battery Park, that’s ok! You can make another one that will be equally important.

2) Join A Local Activist Group

These activist groups are full of experts who know exactly how to mobilize, organize, and connect with surrounding working groups to make a lasting impact. Some groups are set up where they are tackling multiple issues, and some are more strategic focusing on a singular issue (like healthcare, immigration, etc.). Up to you to choose which one suits you best.

Groups can also help keep you apprised of other actions that are going on that you can participate in as well as connect you to other resisters who are taking part so that you don’t have to go at it alone. They also have resources to tap into if you want to take a particular action and need some help. Most importantly, this is a great way to help stay grounded and focused on the mission, and find support from people who are as outraged as you are that want to do something about it.

So how do you find a group? Go to Move-on.org and sign up for notifications or TheIndivisibleGuide.org. I used the indivisible guide to find the group I’m in called Rise & Resist NYC.

3) Choose 1 Issue to Go Deeper On

Just like with your protest itch, you fight the urge to try and fight every single issue the Trump administration is rapid firing our way! It is impossible. That being said, it is important to focus your energy on the topics you feel most compassionate about while being confident in knowing others are doing the same for the other important issues. Remember we’re all a team and we can divide and conquer.

My Rise & Resist NYC group contains several different working groups designed to tackle specific issues. I joined the “2018 Midterm Elections” action group focusing on New York State Congress! Our goal is to make sure we flip every red district possible in New York, and turn all the “light” blue districts dark blue. If this is something you are passionate about, consider joining Rise & Resist NYC. OR, if you’d rather work on the Federal Level with the national midterm elections, consider joining United Thru Action, as they are working on this right now

4) Work at Wearing Down Your Representatives

One of the big reasons we’re seeing a shift in the democratic party is because we make it a point to hound our Senators every week. We go to their offices, their homes, and public events they attend to remind them of what we (their constituents) think is best for us, that they work for us, and that we will not go away. From a strategy standpoint this is key! This is how the tea party singlehandedly help win the republicans the House and then the Senate this last year.

So consider joining a rally at your Republican or Democratic Senator’s office. Moveon.org organizes one every Tuesday for #ResistTrumpTuesdays, find out when the next one is by signing up for alerts here. In person visits are the most powerful, but calls are also effective. And if they turn off the phones, you can try writing a letter or faxing them, yes you heard that right, fax them. Find your Senator’s Contact INFO HERE and FAX numbers HERE. When you write or call, state your name and zip code and then question them on their voting records, which you can find here, and let them know if you are disappointed and how it affects you personally.

Also consider rallying at one of your Federal or State Congressman/woman’s next town hall meeting to speak up and discuss issues. This is an angel’s living database of all upcoming Town hall meetings for all Congressmen/women. People with Republican Reps or Senators, it is crucial that you join groups doing this so you can remind the Republicans this is NOT Politics as usual, so stop acting like it. Attend when you can. I guarantee you will not be alone.

5) Every Little Bit Counts: Donations Will Continue to be BIGLY. This is a 4 Year Fight:

The same logic applies to donations! Again, you cannot donate all your money to every cause, that would be extremely unwise, especially with this administration because you would be poor and they would just kick you to the curb. So consider funding local grassroots movements who are fighting tactically at the local level on your behalf. Some NYC Groups to Consider:

- CAIR (Counsel on American-Islamic Relations)

- IRC (International Rescue Committee)

In the last 72 Hours we have had a massive attempt to consolidate power and test “our country’s willingness to capitulate to a fascist regime.” (Follow Link to Read Original Jake Fuentes Article)

An irresponsible Muslim ban that intentionally included green card holders (aka permanent residents of the US) to cause chaos.

The Department of Homeland Security defies orders from Federal Judges and the Whitehouse is silent. They essentially crossed their arms and said, “Make Me!”

The Immediate Firing of the Acting Attorney General last night when she stood up for the constitution and told the DOJ to not defend the law because she deemed it unconstitutional

The National Security Council Shake up, which puts Steve ‘Neo-Nazi’ Bannon in cabinet level position usually reserved for Generals, without confirmation and almost ensures Trump never has to hear suggestions he wouldn’t like.

The gutting of the State Department to block opposition of these moves as it relates to diplomacy. (Previous reports said the State Department was resigning in waves… turns out it was a purge).

Trump has also demoted the Acting Director if Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE).

From all of this, the Trump administration is clearly pushing the boundaries of our government’s system of checks and balances (which they have no regard for) and testing how far they can push things legally and get away with them.

So is the Muslim ban just NBD?

No, it is still a big deal because there is a good chance that it is unconstitutional, the Whitehouse never consulted Congress or appropriate lawyers before enacting the EO, it keeps us less safe by angering our allies, and is now propaganda for ISIS who are currently hailing Trump’s EO as a

victory by exposing that the US has declared war with Islam. BUT, despite all of this, if you take a step back, it’s not their end game. They want to see if they can just go over the heads of the Judicial branch and get away with it, AND they want to have the appearance of looking reasonable when they eventually back off of 20% of it, when, in reality, they will get 100% of what they wanted in the first place. It’s like when you ask your parents for an insanely ridiculous car for your 16th birthday, knowing the car you want is also ridiculous but not as absurd as the first, so that after they shut down your first request doesn’t seem so extreme after all and you get what you want? That is what it seems like they are attempting to do and it’s a classic business negotiating tactic.

Also it’s worth noting is that Rex Tillerson, Nominee for secretary of state, was surprised and upset that he was not included in the drafting of this legislation… he also opposed several of Trump’s key stances during his confirmation hearing… coincidence?

Is Trump the One Thinking of All This?

Maybe and Maybe not. It seems that the brain child around this whole strategy is this sinister Bannon character who has been plotting this for a long ass time! In fact, he is quoted to have said “I’m a Leninist… Lenin wanted to destroy the state, and that’s my goal too. I want to bring everything crashing down, and destroy all of today’s establishment.” The establishment to him includes republicans and democrats. It’s been circulating that Bannon is using Trump to push this agenda to destroy the state and his unprecedented rise to power and known fascist views corroborate this theory. This has sparked the hashtags #STOPPresidentBannon, #PresidentBannon, and #ImpeachPresidentBannon to start trending rightfully putting this guy in the spotlight as a direct threat to the rights of the American people.

So How Do WE Stop This?

Some may disagree, but it is OUR take that everyone has a role to play in stopping this consolidation of powers and attempt to flirt with fascism and destroy American ideals. And this must be a bi-partisan effort:

The People & The Art of The Protest. People are showing up and showing out in masses almost organically now in opposition of this hostile takeover of our government. Protests are great for showing unity and rejecting what is happening and sending a message through the media to others and the world that this is not what America Stands for (Not to mentioning pissing off Trump because you cannot be the populist president without being popular). But protests can’t just become the new Brunch, where you show-up, get your fill, feel satisfied/ drunk on the feeling of sticking it to the man, and then go home. The importance of protesting is to get the attention of YOUR elected officials, like we did with Chuck Schumer in NY and pressuring them to bend to the will of the constituents. You do think by visiting your elected officials at their offices, their houses, with phone calls, faxes, emails, letters!. The Indivisible Guide explains this method! So keep resisting.

The Press. The Press MUST go deeper and stay on stories like the NSC shake-up or what happened with the Gutting of the state department instead of the obvious stories that are low handing fruit. Don’t just stay on the surface and ask the tough questions! Don’t allow for conflating facts and pivots, expose them for what they are doing! Keep on Russia and the larger story of the Kermlin’s continued influential role in our government. Keep on The Fact that Trump is still profiting from Foreign governments because he has not divested his assets and we need to see his tax returns. Don’t let up, don’t get distracted! Also Stop airing Spicer on TV and Stop bringing on Kellyann Conway for itnervies, they are a distraction. If you choose to do that, air them with a delay to put up the actual facts while they LIE. And DO NOT air the State of the Union addresses Live whenever that is.

Our System of Checks and Balances. It is obvious to see that our system of checks and balances is failing us now. And there are many reasons for it. You have a dictator in office who will metaphorically chop off the head of fire anyone that opposes him in the executive, a gross abuse of executive orders that are being signed straight into law without consulting any member of the legislative branch (thanks Obama for that one… he wasn’t perfect let’s be clear), a covert staffers on the Hill who are circumventing the norms to most likely garner favor with whoever is coming in next, and a Congress with 2 spineless heads in Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell who would rather see a collapse in the American system of government than let go of their political hard-ons of being able to pass anything they want with a GOP controlled government. SHAME!

Legislative Branch Needs to Be United! Cannot express the importance that this must be a Bi-Partisan effort! The democrats seem to be finally uniting to help block this legislation by introducing new legislation, starting with the mass boycott of the inauguration, and continuing to Resist by filibustering the Supreme Court pick whoever that may be. And I would argue they skip the State of the Union as well. Thanks to a lot of pressure, the resistance movement has made on a grassroots level. But we will need Republicans to join in and set their excitement of being in power aside, easier said than done, and stand up and fight for us! There have already been some GOP members that have started to break with the President, but we need more.

Updates on Refugee Ban

Yes, even as of 8:30pm last night, border officers were still not complying with the Federal Judge’s Stay. However, another WOMAN (hey girl hey!), Acting Attorney General Sally Q. Yates, courageously stepped in and ordered the DOJ to not defend this EO As it is unconstitutional. Which SURPRISED Trump and almost immediately he moved to FIRE Ms. Yates on the grounds that she decided to defend the constitution instead of listen to what he says to do and hire someone else who would do what he said. If you are thinking that is effed up, you would not be incorrect in your judgment. Senate Dems have said they will call for an investigation into those persons who did not comply with the federal judge’s orders. It is important to know that Ms. Yates is a holdover from the Obama administration where she was the deputy Attorney General, however she was confirmed with bipartisan support.

Jeff Sessions, the nominee for the Attorney General of the US is the one who is intended to fill that vacancy. So on a phone call Sunday night w/ Moveon.org, they emphasized that they, along with the ACLU, and members of congress would be asking for additional time to re-question Sessions on his stance on the ban before voting since this role is key to establishing whether or not the DOJ will defend the ban and more of Trump’s horrible executive orders! TBD on what Happens.

Important FACTS to know if you’re going to get in Facebook/ family arguments.

It takes 2 YEARS for ANY Refugee to be vetted and granted entry into the United States. It is actually our most intensive screening process.

The Whitehouse is now trying to blame Obama for their major FAIL as they say the list of 7 countries were initially his idea! However, they are not even close to being the same!

“Terrorism by Muslims makes up one-third of 1 percent of all murders in the US.” And none of the countries on this ban have had people that have killed Americans on US soil. Also, “you are more likely to be killed by your own clothes than by an immigrant terrorist.” SHAME

Rudy Giuliani unknowingly confirmed suspicions that this was a disguised Muslim ban because he just couldn’t help himself.

Again, we can all agree we want to keep our country safe. But we WILL NOT abandon our American Values and what this country stands for!

OTHER HAPPENINGS YOU MIGHT HAVE MISSED

Fox News’s initial reports of the heinous massacre that occurred in Quebec misidentified the suspect as Moroccan when in fact he was a MALE WHITE SUPREMICIST and Trump enthusiast who killed 6 Muslims and injured 9 in a mosque! They have still not taken this False Reporting from their website. The Whitehouse even tried to cite the shooting as a reason for the ban… against Muslim and Refugees… #SpicerFacts. The suspect has now been charged with 6 counts of manslaughter. Which makes you wonder, with all this talk of National Security, who is really a bigger threat to your safety?

Trump signed an EO meant to help small (and frankly large) business by easing the amount of federal regulations they have to comply with. The EO basically states that for every new regulation, 2 other regulations must be removed. And that’s basically it. So one might say this will totally help, especially struggling small businesses! Others will logically think, this is just going to create multipart regulations. But, as with most that has happened thus far, logic need not apply. This is in line with his campaign promise to cut back on regulations for businesses.

The Department of Interior is the latest on a growing list of departments that have been gagged by this administration according to, SURPRISE, another leaked memo. This includes the Bureau of Land Management, US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park, Ocean Energy Management, INDIAN AFFAIRS, and others. We are, I’m sure, moments away from following their rogue twitter account… any second now.

Reports have surfaced that Trump will be bringing VP Mike Pence’s unconstitutional religious freedom act to the federal level, by “[rolling] back and nullifying President Barack Obama’s 2014 executive orders which protect employees from anti-LGBT workplace discrimination while working for federal contractors” because of “religious” reasons aka legalizing homophobia. Wow are all those “Gays for Trump” and Deploraball attendees excited now?! This is just another reason why someone like Jeff Sessions cannot be the Attorney General. Dems must continue to hold strong and filibuster Trump’s Supreme Court Pick! However, the GOP could easily evoke the ‘nuclear option’ and kill that idea real quick.

Russia has arrested its top cyber security expert on grounds of treason for providing the US intel about the election hacking. YES remember the hacking! Russia is still not off the hook. They also found an ex-KGB chief murdered in the back seat of a car. This is SUPER SHADY because he was linked to the MI6 officer that compiled that infamous dossier that might actually end up being true. Maxine Waters (Rep. D- CA) announced on Twitter that Dems would be making a statement pertaining to Russia this AM, so TBD on that. I know what you’re thinking, this is turning into the worst TV drama of all time, but unfortunately, unlike The saga of Nick Vail on The Bachelor, this is REAL LIFE!

With a heavy heavy heart, I’m sad to tell you there were 2 American casualties in the Al Qaeda raid in Yemen on Sunday. One was a Navy Seal who was a SEAL Team 6 member and the other an 8-year old American Girl. It seems like the first major military advance by the president was a hot mess… and with Bannon on the National Security Council as a principal things might get even more dicey. Our soldiers lives are not a political game. Steve Bannon must be stopped!

- Democratic Members of Congress took the floor to express their outrage and commitment to work to overturn Trump’s #MuslimBan in Congress and urge their fellow Republicans to join them. They also are contemplating to filibuster the hell out of what every Supreme Court Justice Nominee Trump puts forth. However, they are still debating if this is the best move in the long run. I will be a Chuck Schumer’s office at lunch today to let him know how I feel about that.

- An internal memo from the gutted state department has confirmed their opposition to the Ban. And Obama finally speaks out in support for The Resistance! Looks like everyone is joining the “opposition party” these days because defending American Values is the cool thing to do!

- Washington Stand UP! First state to formally sue Trump over the immigration order #MuslimBan.

- Other corporations quickly denounce Trump Ban including Ford, Coke, and Goldman Sachs among others.

- Google announces it will donate $4M to support organizations dedicated to refugees and their employees celebrated by having their own rally against Trump’s immigration ban.

- The Koch Brothers (who are largely responsible for the messy boots presidency that is DJT and funding the GOP H8 regime) came out against the ban.

- People are starting to delete their Uber App because their CEO was one of the first to jump on the MAGA train and complete took advantage of the NYC taxi strike… Not Cool Uber. (I deleted my account). Didn’t stop him from attempting to clap back though by snitching on other companies on the same advisory board as him. Didn’t really work though because the people are #woke. Can’t wait to jump into a LYFT or try JUNO.

- Also we’re up to 16 on the GOP side not supporting the ban! this is a list of all members of Congress and their responses to the #Muslim ban! Memorize this, and never forget!

- The Boy Scouts open membership to Transgender Children. If kids can get it, like wtf is wrong with adults?

- No Tweet is safe! It seems that a 2011 Tweet from Trump Hotels has been resurrected, and the responses from people are hilarious!

- The “expert” Trump is using to confirm his voter ban, since his golfing buddy story didn’t work out, is actually registered to vote in 3 different states! I mean you can’t make this up people.

- Looking ahead for 2018, the shady AF republican Gerrymandering (or redistricting) is getting crushed in the courts RN. This is a HUGE victory because it essentially will not let the GOP rig the voting districts in their favor. There are 33 Senate seats and all 435 seats in the house are up for grabs. So Mark your calendars for Nov. 8, 2018!

- London and Scotland are Resisting as well protesting this ridiculousness in solidarity with US! We are not alone! British Parliament went HAM on Trump yesterday in the cheekiest fashion, and 1 million Brits signed a petition to not allow Trump to some for a state visit.

So many of my friends I talked to this weekend have no idea what is going on RN. STAY WOKE on these issues and don’t miss a beat! Your complete roundup of events is here! This will be a LONG POST covering extremely pivotal events over the Weekend and why they’re a BFD.

So let’s talk about this Muslim (Rudy spilled the beans, call it what it is) & Refugee Ban.

Unless you never go on Facebook or watch the news, you already know that late Friday afternoon Trump issued a ban on all citizens and refugees from Yemen, Somalia, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Sudan, and Syria entering the US on the basis of 9/11 and known terrorist activities in those regions. This included halting our Syrian refugee program indefinitely. The ban excludes Christians escaping religious persecution. Wow that’s a lot right?! Note that NONE of the countries that participated in the 9/11 attacks are mentioned in the Ban. Also selected countries haven’t had anyone from any of those countries murder anyone in the US… Trump also has business ties to those countries missing from the ban. Not only was this order not properly vetted by the DOJ or Department of Homeland Security, but it was also vague AF and Priebu,s the Director of Homeland Security, was expected to implement it ASAP, with no training or clear communication of how it should be enacted. Trump is still defending this move, claiming it was not a Muslim ban, but his BFF Rudy Giuliani all but implicated the president in his intent on making this a Muslim ban when he bragged in a Fox News interview about how the president called him personally on how to make his Muslim ban legal. Oooops. This is SUPER UNCONSITUTIONAL under the Establishment Clause and could serve as grounds for impeachment. Bring on the lawsuits.

This ended up causing chaos at airports across the country as Border Control/ Customs began detaining people lawfully entering the US. This includes: people with Green Cards, Visas, and interpreters/allies who helped our soldiers and were granted asylum in the US, and refugees who had been vetted for 2 years. People were detained overnight on Friday as they landed and some were forced to fly back to their country of origin regardless if this put them in danger or not. Refugees fighting to escape a war torn nation, a war that the US started, were turned away after they have waited years in run down refugee camps to come to the US. There were reports that detainees were handcuffed and agents were trying to get them to sign papers that would revoke their eligible status to enter into the US. Some were not allowed to have access to their lawyers who are still on sight waiting to get to their clients.

Word spread fast, and sparked YUGGE organic protests nationwide on Saturday and Sunday at airports and in cities all over the country because people are tired of all the Bullshit and see right through it. Reportedly, 10,000 showed up at JFK alone. Even the Taxi drivers got in on the action. Hundreds of Lawyers also started rushing to the airports to offer their services pro bono, and the ACLU in NYC filed the first habeas corpus on behalf of 2 Iraqi men who were being detained at JFK. And they won a temporary stay, which means no one being held could be deported, and it applied nationwide. Some judges went even further, in Boston a judged ruled that no one could be interrogated at airports. Others ruled that detainees must be allowed to see their lawyers, however as of 11:30pm they still haven’t been able to, and attorneys are seeking a contempt order. But again, these stays are temporary and only apply to people who were traveling to/ on their way to the US when the order was signed.

Important FACTS to know

- It takes 2 YEARS for ANY Refugee to be vetted and granted entry into the United States. It is actually our most intensive screening process. NYT lays out full steps HERE. This goes against everything America stands for and actually breaks the Geneva Refugee Convention which home girl from Germany had to remind Trump during their little chat! But she’s a woman, so he was probably wasn’t listening to her. Like his tax returns, we’ll see if he actually keeps his promise to let refugees in again after these 90 days. It seems like the indefinite ban on Syrian Refugees will probably stand, which is a shame because they are some of the ones who are affected the most.

- The Whitehouse is now trying to blame Obama for their major FAIL as they say the list of 7 countries were initially his idea! However, establishing the need for more oversight on a specific country based on a specific piece of intel, then properly implementing and enacting a vague all-out ban with no direction preventing people from lawfully entering the country are two completely separate things. Obama’s procedures restricted Visas from refugees in IRAQ only to implement additional stricter questioning and procedures based on intel from people they had detained for six months in 2011, and he certainly did not prevent those lawfully entering the country from coming in.

- Trump says he could add more countries to the ban if necessary right before he talked to the King of Saudi Arabia and the Prince of the UAE… leverage perhaps? My speculation, but he is the “deals” president

- “Terrorism by Muslims makes up one-third of 1 percent of all murders in the US.” And none of the countries on this ban have had people that have killed Americans on US soil. Also, “you are more likely to be killed by your own clothes than by an immigrant terrorist.” SHAME

We can all agree we want to keep our country safe. But again, re-evaluating procedures and reworking the system is completely different than banning everyone for 3-4 months including those who already have Visas and Green cards. We WILL NOT abandon our American Values and what this country stands for! And remember, do not let the Whitehouse play like this isn’t a Muslim ban because… Rudy! Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!

This is scary stuff. Everyone all day has been talking about how this is adding fuel to the fire for terrorists and putting lives in danger! And Now, late last night, there was the first report of terrorism this year in North America… in Quebec, 2 MALE WHITE SUPREMICISTS who killed 6 Muslims and injured 9 in a mosque!

National Security is Now Run by Steve Bannon?

So maybe we’re exaggerated here a little, Steve Bannon is not running the National Security Council, but he’s elevated himself to the level of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff AND the Director of National Intelligence to have a Principal seat at the table, ordering them to only be present when their expertise are needed… TBD on whether or not Bannon will be deciding when their presence will be needed and when it won’t. This makes ZERO sense and is absolutely terrifying. Even John McCain is SUPER worried about this, and you should be too because the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Director of Intelligence have been demoted, and Bannon, a former Naval Officer of 7 years has promoted himself to the equivalent of a cabinet position with no vetting or voting. This move is happening as multiple reports of speculation that Bannon, an alt-Nazi Breitbart founder, fear mongerer and spreader of fake news and propaganda who told the media to shut its mouth, has been crafting these orders and policies to align with his controversial views. In the words of the Washington Post: “[It is] More troubling, Bannon’s role as chairman of Breitbart.com, with its racist, misogynist and Islamophobic perspectives, and his avowed desire to blow up our system of government, suggests this is someone who not only has no business being a permanent member of the most powerful consultative body in the world — he has no business being in a position of responsibility in any government.” Especially with his lack of knowledge on national security as a whole. The Fox is in the Hen House, Trump may actually be a puppet afterall, and TBD on how this will all play out.

- RESISTANCE REPORT- PROTESTS ARE WORKING KEEP RESISTING!

- Ann Donnelly, a Federal judge in Brooklyn (What Up Brooklyn!) issued a nationwide emergency stay on some of Trump’s Muslim ban for everyone who was and is STILL detained in airports right now! This was in response to the habeas corpus filed by the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) on behalf of 2 of the Iraqi men detained at JFK. The stay prevents anyone with valid green cards or visas from being deported who were traveling or en-route when this was signed! Boston went one more step and said there will be no interrogations in the airport so people are being encouraged to be re-routed there! The Whitehouse shortly thereafter put forth a statement that green card holders will continue to go through extreme questioning before coming in, even if they have green cards. As of right now ALL SFO and OHARE detainees have been released! TBD on whether or not this Ban will be overturned either in the courts or in Congress (yes Congress can overtrun by drafting a law to limit executive orders).

- ACLU goes back to court to: 1) Ask the judge for clarification and expanding the stay to folks with Visas in hand and 2) Bringing forward a lawsuit that this Muslim Ban is unconstitutional! This group is so important, thank you to the ACLU and Lawyers from across the nation who are still huddled in airports working for their clients. This will be a LONG battle, if you are able, Consider donating because they are going to need all the monies to keep fighting for justice! Also in the fight is the IRC, check them out and donate if you are able.

- Republican and Democratic Members of Congress are expected to announce at 6pm that they are working on legislation to overturn the 90-day ban.

Day 9 (1/28): Temporary Ban for Muslim Countries Leaves Out Main Countries of Previous US Terror Attacks (Which Trump Happens To Have Business Ties To)

-YESTERDAY, IN TRUMPLAND-

RED ALERT! The Trump administration has demanded that all ads for Obamacare be canceled! That is $5 million of already paid ads just going down the drain. And you know how many procrastinators sign up late. There is always a surge in signups the last few days, so essentially the GOP are being assholes. You have until JAN 31st to sign up on healthcare.gov. So do so NOW!

Also, Trump signed 2 executive orders yesterday because of course he did:

- #1 “Extreme Vetting” (No One Knows What That Means Exactly)

Officially dubbed, “Protecting the Nation from Terrorist Attacks by Foreign Nationals,” the order includes a temporary 120-day ban on refugees and visas of immigrants from 7 Muslim countries, excluding the ones that he has business interests in because remember he DID NOT divest anything and is STILL PROFITING FROM FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS. Where the hell are all these people with these lawsuits!). Ironically enough, the Cato Institute reported that of the terror attacks that have happened, “Foreign nationals from those seven countries have killed a grand total of 0, yes 0, Americans.” In fact, “Terrorism by Muslims makes up one-third of 1 percent of all murders in the US.” Forget the fact that banning refugees from entering this country goes against all American Values, even if he thought he had cause, Trump didn’t even pick the right ones! Some of the countries on the list are known terrorist “hot spots,” but they haven’t committed acts of terror in the US. Vox helps us Break it down:

San Bernadino shooting that killed 14 people= US Born Pakistani and US legalized citizen of Pakistani descent

The Orlando nightclub shooter who murdered 49 people= US Born citizen of Afghan descent

The Boston marathon bombers= Kyrgyzstan, grew up in Boston

The militant who killed four Marines in TN= Kuwaiti Born US Citizen his parents being Jordanian and Palestinian

The attempted Times Square bomber= Pakistani-American

The infamous “underwear bomber”= Nigerian

The man who attempted to blow up a plane with explosives in his shoes= UK born, his mother was white, and his father was mixed race Jamaican

The man who killed 13 people at Fort Hood in 2009= born in Virginia to Palestinian parents

The 9/11 Hijackers= 15 Saudi Arabians, 2 From the UAE, 1from Lebanon, and 1 from Egypt

Osama Bin Laden was from Saudi Arabia and his top dogs were all from Egypt

NONE of those countries are on this banned list! NOT A SINGLE ONE! And if anything this shows that people who would carry out an attack in the US are already here and are probably citizens.

Not to say that some countries on the list, like Iran, don’t make sense, but these countries are more likely to train other countries such as Yemen and Lebanon, to take out attacks against other Arabs, which is why those citizens are trying to escape the middle east in the first place. There was an incident this year when a Somali immigrant injured 10 people in Minnesota (But In NYC the American Subway slashers injured 11).

The order did say that the ban would be lifted only for those escaping religious persecution, meaning Christians Only. I wonder what the Pope has to say about this... But, with what the data show, (which i know a lot of people are allergic to facts these days) this is certainly not a serious counter terrorist move and if anything probably leaves us more vulnerable. But still, the likelihood of a US citizen being killed in an attack by an immigrant is 1 in 3.6 million. If you have a republican senator or representative, make them tell you where they stand and come with the facts! This is one of the most Un-American orders put forth thus far, and it’s only week 1.

Whether you are a republican or a democrat, we should all agree that this is NOT the right move!

- #2 “Military Preparedness” If he keeps this up we might actually need this one.

This one seemed more symbolic than anything else, but the President wants to add $300 billion dollars on top of the $584 billion dollars already budgeted to go towards building up the army for new planes, ships, tools and resources including upping the number of active duty troops by approximately 161,000. Sounds like a primer for war time type activities. So you’re probably wondering if this is a lot of money or what? Well we can tell you how much of our discretionary spending budget is spent on the military because unlike Spicer, we have charts… with actual facts:

NATIONAL DISASTERS. ACTUALLY SAD :(

Leaks Are popping up everywhere, and now they’ve extended to Iowa in probably the worst way possible. Less than 24hrs after Trump beamed about getting DAPL and Keystone XL pipelines moving again, IOWA suffered the worst pipeline leak it’s had in 16 years. You think folks might have changed their tune on these pipelines by now? Ugh, don’t hold your breath.

But hopefully IOWA can get some support because Trump still has not issued any Federal funds to help the Red States of Mississippi and Georgia recover from the deadly tornadoes that destroyed hundreds of homes. It’s been days, and still no response from FEMA. Must be because these Governors are not on Trump’s hit list for revenge; No time, gotta get that wall going you know? Thank goodness for Anheuser-Busch InBev for donating water to these poor people. Our thoughts are with them.

MORE ON IMMIGRATION

- Miami-Dade county’s mayor has lost his damn mind announced they would not be joining the sanctuary cities club and ordered his officials to fully cooperate with Trump. The mayor says he “never considered [Miami] a sanctuary city” despite the fact that they have the 2nd highest number of immigrants in the US. Hmmm… I smell $$$$$. And this is why I never go to Miami. I’d rather take my talents to Los Angeles. Now he also has people outside his office protesting. Viva La Resistance and good luck to that guy.

- Trump and Steven ‘alt-right’ Bannon are putting forward an order for the Secretary of Homeland Security to post a weekly report of every crime that is committed by an immigrant in cities that don’t comply with the Furher. This is SO beyond dangerous; this is what the Nazi’s did to the Jews back in… well you don’t need me to explain. Breitbart tried to do this with the BLM movement, so you know this was all Steve Bannon’s idea. SOOO glad that guy is there pulling the puppet-in-chief’s stings. Chills, literal chills. I know, but her emails though!

- So it looks like Propaganda Today FOX News finally has a legitimate story to run ad nauseam *eye roll.* The official economic performance report came out today, and while it showed the US economy grew by 1.6% in 2016, it’s still chugging along at a very slow pace compared to where we’ve been. In fact, it’s the lowest growth rate we’ve reported since 2011. Of course this is all Obama’s fault, right? Not like we’re still coming back from that one time when we had The Great Recession or anything. Some of you may ask, how can this be? Hasn’t unemployment dropped from 10% in 2009 to 4.7%? Well the economic growth rate is largely measured by the rate of productivity coming out of our country vs the imports coming in. So what this report tells us is that we produced cars, gidgets, and widgets at a slower rate than we have in the past 5 years compared the the amount of imports that have come in. This was one key reason a lot of Trump Supporters voted for him in the first place and why he’s doing things like meeting with major business leaders, and trying to figure out how to keep manufacturing jobs in the US. But he’s made a lofty goal of doubling the estimated economic growth rate from 2% to 4%, which is YUGE! However, trying to summon the second coming of the industrial revolution is not going to be enough to do it. He also is looking to rewrite the tax code to give big business a large tax break and roll back regulations (like the pipelines and other environmentally hazardous practices) to get the economy moving faster. So TBD on this one Donny. I guess we’ll see how great of a businessman he actually is.

- Trump also met with the Brexit Prime Minister… But really nothing interesting happened other than him refusing to answer a legitimate question. It was basically Trump saying, “We’re Isolationists and xenophobic, you’re isolationists and xenophobic. We should get along GREATLY.” She did use this time to express to Donald that NATO is uber important. Never thought I’d say it, but Thank God He Picked Mattis.

Today Donny will talk to his BFF Putin, I’m sure to thank him for the assist. Unclear if he’s taking this one from his personal Android phone (btw he would be an Android user). or his actual secure phone. TBD on what happens there.

- #AdiosStarbucks is trending in Mexico, because face it, they are pissed. I don’t blame them. They are attempting to hurt US businesses located in Mexico by instituting a nationwide boycott. However, this might not go very far. One time my mom tried to boycott things made in China... she lasted 1.5 days...

- This is one geneticist that has had enough. He’s so fed up, he is making a run for the Senate for 2018! I haven’t read up on him yet, but go Michael Eisen for feeling inspired to run for office!

- Sunday Join MoveOn.Org’s conference call for planning this upcoming #ResistTrumpTuesday at 8pm est. Last call had 15,000 people on it and there were 60,000 on their first call. Last week’s conference call inspired me to get involved in the 2018 Midterm election efforts to Flip Red Seats Blue! So TBD on that front.

- A fellow Blogger posted an awesome guide entitled “Shy Person’s Guide to Calling Representatives.” Because introverts are resisters too! I know a lot of people are like what?! Call someone… like on the phone… and speak to an actual human? Can’t we just text? NOPE, our government does not text… I mean they still use fax machines and this site will allow you to send faxes to every Senator’s office from your phone or computer for free. But it is not as effective as a call. But this guide will help take a lot of the anxiety out of it! With so many issues at hand, there are plenty of calls to make!

- I will be researching effective ways to help folks obtain Government issued state ID cards in All Red States. If the GOP votes to enact unconstitutional voter ID laws, we will be ready to mobilize thousands in the Resistance network to make sure people can enact their constitutional right! If you have ideas, let me know.

Well that’s the first week of this circus… whooo I am freaking exhausted and mentally drained. But it’s important now more than ever to remember to take care of yourself. Turn the news off, watch some garbage/ mindless TV, go to the gym, SHOWER. This post does a great job of reminding you how to balance outrage and not lose your mind.

Day 8 (1/27): FLINT DOESN’T HAVE CLEAN WATER, BUT WE’RE BUILDING A #F%^KINGWALL

-YESTERDAY, IN TRUMPLAND-

Today we got to see the culmination of one of the sassiest breakup stories you’ll ever hear about. First, Mexico’s former President gets #FuckingWall to start trending on twitter as he basically told Trump to "GFY." And then the double bird came when the current Mexican President canceled his meeting with Trump all together. In response, Trump tried to say “Girl Bye” to Mexico by announcing he would implement a Tariff in the form of a 20% import tax on all Mexican goods coming into the US in which the prices for good WE buy will go up. Yup, that means things like automobiles, Mexican beer, Tequila, clothing, and agricultural goods will all be more expensive for us to buy. Mexico is the second largest supplier of agricultural imports to the US meaning, WE are STILL paying for the freaking wall. And yes this will affect F$%KING AVOCADO TOAST and TEQUILA! And we need tequila now more than ever. This is the equivalent of Trump spitting in your guac and smashing your bottle of Patron all at once. And what’s worse, while Trump thinks this push will make Americans buy American, it will actually hurt the very people he claims he want sto help, our low-income citizens who cannot afford a price hike on their tomatoes. But it Look like THIS was the last straw for Senator Lindsey Graham, who tweeted the equivalent of “give me Corona or give me death” last night. I think the GOP is ready to impeach Trump now and put Pence in charge, which has been my theory since day 2.

As if The Donald hasn’t been torturing us enough, he is out in these streets flirting with the idea of bringing back torturing practices and black sites, even though international law forbids the practice. If he gets his way, this would be a dangerous precedent to set as it could cause to other countries to believe they have the green light as well, putting the lives of American soldiers and POWs at risk. But i’m not so sure Trump cares. After all, he did say he only likes people who “don’t get captured.” John McCain was also clear this will not fly with him or anyone in Congress. Hmmm is the GOP starting to crack? Maybe, because although Trump has aggressively spoken about withdrawing from NATO, his Secretary of Defense, Mattis, has opposed this notion. In fact, he called NATO the “most successful military alliance in modern world history.” We shall see with today brings…

Gerrymandering officially hits the middle east! Isn't it convenient that the Muslim ban Trump proposed was placed on all countries in the middle east, except for those that Trump has business ties to? I know, "but her emails right?!" Thanks Bloomberg Politics for piecing this together! Here's a growing list of his conflicts of interest they are building by the day.

PHILLY showed up and showed out yesterday in front of the hotel where the Fascists GOP lawmakers and the Toddler in Chief are having a summit to plot the destruction of the free world discuss wtf they’re going to do about the ACA. But when they all arrived in DC yesterday, thousands of protestors were there to meet them, demanding that the GOP does not for one second think of taking away their healthcare without replacing it with a superior solution. The GOP has had 8 years to propose one and haven’t been able to think of anything yet. Shout out to everyone who traveled to The City of Brotherly Love for this one!

Most of us are thinking, ah, what I would give to be a fly on the wall in the Whitehouse RN. Well luckily, you don’t have to wonder because Whitehouse aides continue to give us the tea, and we will gladly keep sippin’ it. We The Resistance have breached the Whitehouse! Always good to have a man/woman on the inside.

Mr. “Lock Box” himself has returned! With all this climate talk you know it was only a matter of time before Al Gore got back in the game. Thanks to his effort’s the CDC’s climate conference is back on for 2/16 in Atlanta. Apparently everyone received notice that the CDC was canceling the event, but now, thanks to Uncle Al, it’s back on and poppin'!

NASA upped the ante on the whole government agencies going rogue movement. They just announced that all the scientific research they fund will be available for free! That means scientific journals can have full reign on all these important studies, allowing them to reach a wider audience of the public and other scientists. If you’re a science nerd, like me, this is BIGLY! Then shortly after, the Senior Management Team at the State Department said, hold my beer watch this, and proceeded to all resign at the same time. Mind blown. They essentially staged a formal walkout. Other government entities to go rogue yesterday: @AltForestServ, @alt_fda, @AltHHS, @ActualEPAFacts, and @ALTUSDA. Yes for Science! Knowledge is power!

Also, looks like Chuck decided to show up for us after all. He announced today that he would vote NO on DeVos! This is huge because A) Betsy “I can’t spell” DeVos is just the worst and B) Schumer has been voting yes on all of Trump’s picks so far, which have caused all of us to go to his office and his house to inquire “What The F$#K Chuck?” TBD on how long he decides to stay with the resistance. Schumer, we will see you next Tuesday and every Tuesday until you start listening to us more frequently. My girl Gillibrand has been on point though, voting NO on all of Trump’s cabinet picks thus far… BTW Chuck, Gillibrand is my favorite NY Senator.

Are pigs falling from the sky or is it just me? Another member of the GOP has actually stood up to Trump. House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), said that his committee will not launch any investigation into Trump’s unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud. Period. Could the GOP be on their way to also joining the resistance? Not so fast! Although Hillary beat Trump by 2.8 million votes, the republicans won the house by 3 million votes. It was the only race democrats did not win the popular vote in… hmmm… looks like someone doesn’t want an investigation…

And we broke a record for the most signatures on a Whitehouse petition ever! Donny, we want to see them damn tax returns! What are you hiding? Meanwhile, there have been more than 1 million emails sent to senators begging them to Save Our Schools and Vote NO for DeVos. Keep it up people!

The United Nations, who I’m sure is on Trump’s “it’s not me, it’s you” list, officially “affirms abortion is a human right.” Who knew you could file a complaint with the UN Human Rights Committee? Can we file one too, about... well… everything!

DAY 7 (1/26) ACTIONS TO MAKE AMERICA, AMERICA AGAIN!

-YESTERDAY, IN TRUMPLAND-

TRUMP DECLARES WAR ON IMMIGRANTS

Trump signed an executive order to ban Immigrants from several middle eastern countries and stop Syrian Refugees from entering into the US. His supporters love this because most of them believe the hype behind this myth that our borders are wide open. The process is actually very thorough and takes up to 2 years before any refugee is able to enter the US, but FOX News or it didn’t happen right? This order also plans to defund any sanctuary cities, hire 5,000 border officers, expand detainment centers, and the end the catch and release policy. For a group of people that are so pro-life, they seem to not GAF about the lives of these women and children. I’m not surprised when you have Senators compare people to buildings… yes you read that right, people are just inanimate objects for them to play with.

Trump also ordered the building of the Wall right before his officials are set to meet with senior Mexican officials. The wall will still cost us $25 Billion dollars to build and Mexico has already said, hell no to paying for it and they aren’t planning to pay us back for it either. What does that even mean, pay us back? Well, apparently Trump wants to take all the money that Mexican immigrants in the US are sending back to their families in Mexico to help fund the $25 Billion wall. Which doesn’t seem like a reliable defense since, you know, tunnels… Just sayin’

Then later in the day, Foreign Mexican officials who were supposed to meet with Chief of Staff Reince Pubis Priebus, Trump’s Son In-Law Jared “My daddy had to pay to get me into Harvard” Kushner, Mike Flynn (NSA), and Steve “is Alt Right” Bannon are reconsidering their visit. They were going to try to convince Trump that blowing up NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) could potentially effect 6 million American Jobs that depend on exports to Mexico. They also were planning to flex by threatening to stop cooperating in the fight against drug trafficking, and discontinue efforts to stop foreign terrorists from using Mexico as a throughway into the US because let’s face it everyone hates us right now. Granted, NAFTA could use some updates (data protection, online-crime, and e-commerce weren’t around in the early 90’s when initially signed). But “NAFTA and Other trade deals [are not what has] gutted American Manufacturing”. Automation and our failure to train people for the evolving job requirements in manufacturing have. Let’s face it, this whole plan isn’t for the people; this is for Profit… because remember the President is still profiting from his businesses.

Let’s Talk About Climate Change

Trump has ordered the EPA to take down the climate page from their website. Also with everything else that’s going on, the sneaky GOP has officially shut down the investigation into the Flint water crisis. All those people will receive no justice and the problem has not been fixed.

ACA/ Housing Developments

House passes a nationwide abortion ban, vote now goes to the Senate! Also, turns out that Global Gag order is not just business as usual as some news reports say. It actually goes much farther with some unprecedented reach

HHS banned from releasing data/facts to the public.Elizabeth Warren and Sherrod Brown to approve Ben Carson to HUD. Yup the same guy who said Obamacare was “the worst thing to happen to America Since Slavery” and that he didn’t want to take this job because he has no experience running a government agency. SMH

The GOP’s Hypocritical Oath

Looks like the axis of evil has some hypocritical skeletons in their own closets. I mean you would think that if two of the cornerstones of your campaign centered around the misuse of emails (one that led to that investigation to nowhere) and unsubstantiated claims of a rigged voting system, you would want to make sure your hands were clean of such offenses right? WRONG! Egg, meet face.

It has come to light that both Steve Bannon, Steve Mnchin (Treasury Secretary Nominee) and Tiffany Trump are registered to Vote in 2 different states! Also, the republicans beat the democrats in the House and Senate by over 3 million votes, so I’m thinking the GOP really doesn’t want this investigation digging up dirty details. But logic need not apply in this house.

Oh, and BTW Kellyann, Bannon, Kushner, and Spicer are all using private email accounts, while Trump is still communicating on unsecure devices. This is the same private email system that the Bush Administration got caught using (remember the one where they “lost” 22 million emails). Guarantee that is something you will not see on the FOX News feed. Stay woke people!

Bills, Bills, Bills & The Crooked GOP

The Senate Voted 51 to 48 to completely dismantle clauses in the ACA they were supposed to keep. And there is still no replacement! Items include: ending coverage for preexisting conditions (this also affects you if you get your insurance through work, like I do), cut funding for Child Health Insurance Program, cut provision allowing children to stay on their parent’s healthcare until the age of 26, remove discrimination from women in healthcare, end contraceptive coverage, defund and repeal the affordable care act. House Vote is on FRIDAY! Better get in touch with your Senators!

Mississippi Gov, Phil Bryant, aka Mike Pence 2.0, signed into law yesterday a bill allowing businesses to refuse service to people in the gay community just by claiming, “God made me do it.” Oh ya, this effects the Trans Community as well.

On a National level, Mr. “I Love The Gays” is now backing this Anti- LGBTQ bill, the First Amendment Defense Act, which essentially is code for “Not Straight, No Service.”

House passes bill to PERMANENTLY outlaw abortion for folks on ACA, Medicare and Medicaid in the case of incest or rape! This was the only form of abortion allowed to be paid for with federal $$$ under the Hyde Amendment. Studies have shown that banning abortion does not decrease the number of abortions, but is does increase the number of maternal deaths. This is truly the party of death!

The Netherlands came to SLAY! In response to Trump’s reinstatement of the global gag order, the Dutch government set up an International Abortion fund. Just as we saw in the Women’s March, the WORLD has got our back and we will need the support for the next 4 years!

Another Victory, the Agriculture Department Lifted the Gag Order out of response to all the “outrage” they received! The Resistance IS working. Continue to be vigilant and speak up!

ProPublica is an outlet that recently came out and is now helping Scientists “leak” data and still stay anonymous. This could prove very valuable as many scientists were frantically saving data before the Trump Dumb. Now it looks like there are alternative venues to house and distribute info to the public, including rogue twitter accounts created by the National Parks Service AltUSNatParksService (@AltNatParkSer), the EPA @UngaggedUSEPA, and NASA @rougeNASA. it’s official! The resistance movement has hit SPACE!

Greenpeace killed it in the resistance game yesterday! These People Scaled a crane and hung a “Resist” banner just blocks away from the White House! You could actually see it in the background as you looked at the Whitehouse! And then these folks chased down Marco Rubio to give him an actual spine in response to his caving on the Tillerson vote.

Some leaky aids in the Whitehouse spilled all the tea on how our resistance is getting under the Child in Chief’s thin skin. It seems like he’s having a hard time adjusting to having a real job.

NYC continues to make me proud! Here is video of the hundreds of people that descended upon Washington Square to STAND up for immigrants and Muslims! Later on Mayor Bill De Blasio, held a press conference to express that NYC would remain a sanctuary city. Mayors from Boston, San Francisco, and other sanctuary cities around the US joined suit. I couldn’t make the protest by donated to the IRC (International Rescue Committee). You can Donate HERE. The Executive Orders Are Rolling in and Yes, It’s very Bad. In fact, there’s little that can be done to overturn them as only 2 have ever been struck down by the supreme court. It will get messy, it will be extremely hard and extremely taxing, but we must fight to protect and defend each other. You are not alone. We are the majority.

EPA GAG ORDER

DJT has issued an executive order to block the ability of the EPA to share facts and data with the American public. BFD! This allows the Republicans to put out a bunch of Climate Denying falsehoods to dispute the obvious facts that the earth is getting warmer and the seas are rising. WHAT IN THE LITERAL HELL! That means: no social media updates, no talking to the press, no interacting with members of Congress, no sharing research, and a freeze on all EPA grants, which is what most professors/environmentalists use to conduct their research. THIS IS FASCIST AF. The Department of Agriculture also banned folks in the Agricultural Research Service Center (you know like the people who provide research to the USDA, NBD) from sharing the results of its taxpayer-funded research. GTFOH!

But, Badlands National Park isn’t having it, and neither are we! Last time I checked we didn’t live in Russia or North Korea and FACTS AND SCIENCE ARE IMPORTANT, this is how we innovate!

Remember the thousands of men, women, and veterans flocking to Standing Rock to protest this pipeline, which, if approved runs a severe risk of contaminating this Tribe’s drinking water? If not, let me refresh your memory. The pipeline had been rerouted through Stand Rock because contractors were afraid that if they ran it near Bismarck, North Dakota, it would contaminate Bismarck’s drinking water. Um, Racist Much. Well now Trump signed an executive order today to move forward with the pipelines. I tell you, the GOP members continue to cherry pick whose lives Matter More in the interest of their donors and it’s wrong. Sign this petition to Tell the GOP to leave Standing Rock Alone!

Also today, MORE #AlternativeFacts from Donny boy. Trump is still spewing LIES that 3-5 million “illegals” voted for Hilary and if they didn’t, he would have won the popular vote. He repeated said lie at a bipartisan Capitol Hill gathering the evening of 1/23, where everyone was supposed to kiss the ring and talk about policy. *insert eye roll here*

As of 11PM Yesterday, Trump is apparently hell bent on Stopping the Carnage of

violence in ChiTown (my home town) by implementing stricter gun control and sending in the FEDS! Because why would you focus on the root cause of a problem to fix it?

#DrainTheSwamp Rallies were put on Everywhere by moveon.org. Yesterday a couple hundred of my fellow Resisters and I all gathered in the cold pouring rain in front of our NY Senators, Chuck Schumer and Kristen Gillibrand’s office on 49th and 3rd to demand that Schumer and Gillibrand do not cave on any of these unacceptable cabinet picks. Schumer already voted to confirm Mike “Torture Me” Pompeo, so we let him know this did not fly with us. Because “We Will Remember in November.” We also demanded he:

Reject Sessions, No More Concessions! Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) has said he will vote for Sessions! WV stand up and bug the hell out of this man (230 Adams St, Fairmont, WV 26554), home office in West Virginia at 304-342-5855.

Say No To DeVos. Save Our Schools. (Vote Delayed until 1/31)

Tell Tom, The Price is Not Right

Chuck Schumer’s Chief of Staff actually came out to reassure us that Chuck and Kristen were with us and would #ResistTrump and #DrainTheSwamp, which is great, but Gillibrand is the only Dem to vote no on ALL Trump’s cabinet picks. He then collected all the letters people brought with them to give to Schumer and took them inside. Chuck Schumer, we are watching you! #NotOneInch.

This was my first Rally and it won’t be my last! It was peaceful, it had a message, everyone was untied out of concern for EACH OTHER. I had some great conversations. The Resistance is alive. We are the majority. We are not alone.

I also attended my first Rise & Resist Meeting last night, and it was a packed house… Definitely 100, maybe 200+ people in a room, all concerned with saving our citizens and saving Trump Voters from themselves. Yes, the night is dark and full of terrors, but we must remain active and continue to work. The meeting agenda was as follows:

Senator Jeff Merkley (OR) is my hero of the day. He printed out the side by side picture of Obama’s inauguration crowd v Trump’s and made the Budget Director nominee testify on the record which one was bigger, which I think is completely valid because how can you balance and budget if you can’t even tell that one picture clearly has more people in it than the other. Rep Mike Rodgers (R-Ala) HR193 has issued a bill, that if passed would pull the United States Out of the UN! Must call 202-224-3121 to oppose this action ASAP! When you call press 1 for the Senate and 2 for the house to tell your member of congress you are opposed!

Updated Highlights:

The Road To Impeachment Continues! How appropriate for Trump to be hit with a lawsuit. This one is working to prove that DT is violating the US Constitution because as of 1/20, he is profiting from foreign governments.

A Federal Judge blocked a mega-merger between Athena and Humana because Monopolies are for board games! Consolidation in heath care is partly to blame for insanely high ACA premiums.

Meanwhile, we got a major update in Russiagate, Reports surfaced tonight revealing an official investigation into Trump’s National Security Advisor, Mike Flynn and Russia’s US Ambassador’s long distance relationship. Haters will say it’s paranoia…

TRUMPLAND- UPDATED

As Predicted, today was a whirlwind! WOAH, Where do I even start. Trump was intent to flex on us and show the world what HIS America is all about. Here is a list of today’s happenings in TRUMPLAND:

1. Looks like we’re not going to get Trump’s Tiny hands away from our lady parts (#Petty). Today he signed to reinstate the “Global Gag Order.” Wait, what does that mean? Well, it means that the US will not give foreign aid to health groups that ever utter the word Abortion during family planning consultations. This is an order that has been resurrected from the Reagan era, in case you were wondering what decade we have been transported to. It was also ironic that only white men were around when this was signed! Memorize this number 202-224-3121.

2. Trump has signed a letter of intent to withdraw from the TPP, aka the Trans Pacific Partnership. He touted the action as a major victory for the American Worker. TBD if these are #AlternativeFacts (lies) or Actual Facts (Truths). It’s important to note that this move has bipartisan support (Fist bumps for Bernie). He did however promise a “Major Border Tax” on companies that moved jobs overseas. So we’ll have corporate tax cuts and border tax penalties for said companies? Something tells me that the relief from these tax cuts will more than cover the penalties from the border tax… but I’ll wait till we get some numbers to do the math.

3. Trump enacted a Federal hiring freeze under the false pretense he wanted to “Drain The Swamp” as well as curb the gross proliferation of federal jobs. SURPRISE these #TrumpStats are incorrect because, Charts or it didn’t happen!

4. Marco Rubio had a major FAIL Today. He buckled for whatever reason on his stand against Rexxon Tillerson, and his deciding vote (vote was 11-10 for Exxon Mobile) was the final push Rex needed for committee confirmation. Now it’s up to the Senate! These Senator’s phone lines need to be LIT with you calls! 202-224-3121!

5. Our BFF Spicer, attempted a do-over today following his disaster of a press conference last Saturday. Today wasn’t any better, not only did he continue to misrepresent the inaugural ratings, but he continues to refuse to acknowledge he lied about the size of the crowds, and then he had the audacity to say the honest and accurate coverage of the President elect by the press was too “Demoralizing…” hmmm kind of like being grabbed by the kitty against your will eh? I guess the Whitehouse is supposed to be one giant safe space now. He also tried his best to pretend like the agents were fiercely applauding Trump during his CIA Speech . Sigh… I guess #SpicerFacts are here to stay.

WHY ARE THESE CABINET PICKS ALMOST GUARANTEED APPROVAL AFTER ALL WE LEARNED IN THESE DAMN HEARINGS? I Have Concerns!

It should be noted that the democrats actually put us in this awkward position for this one, when they issued the “Nuclear option” in 2013. This constitutional option is a parliamentary procedure that allows the U.S. Senate to override a rule or precedent by a simple majority of 51 votes, instead of a supermajority of 60 votes. So basically majority rules, and Senators can block a filibuster by just having 51 votes instead of 60. Dems have 44 and Republican have 54 (I know, I know, WHY?!!!!). It’s like the butterfly effect right? While it helped get initiatives, like the ACA, to pass through the republican stalemate, it is now working against Dems in a dramatic fashion.

So the republicans can also just ram these people on through then? WRONG! In fact there are a number of Republicans and Trump voters that are deeply concerned with a lot of these nominees and they are letting their congressmen and women have it! So the GOP’s act of alignment with Trump can only go so far! So all parties that are concerned need to act fast!

1/22 DAY 3: PLAN & ORGANIZE #KeepMarching

Today’s entry is a little long but it is the most important I will post because The Work Is just beginning and it’s going to be a LONG bumpy ride!

ACTION:

Attended the MoveOn.Org / The Indivisible/ Working Families Emergency Call To Action & Training on Grassroots/Local Activism For Change. The call had 40K participants RSVP. My notes on the training are below

Called my 2 state Senators Chuck Schumer D-NY and Kristen Gillibrand D-NY to encourage them to remain vigilant in opposing the cabinet and keeping the pressure on about the ACA. Find your Senators Here. You can call, write a letter, or go to their office!

Went on The Indivisible website to find a local group to join. I joined a group in NYC called Rise & Resist that meets weekly. First meetings: Tues 1/24 7pm- for all members & Weds 1/25 6pm- Rise & Resist POC Caucus

2018 MIDTERM ELECTIONS ARE COMING! Went on SwingLeft and signed up to help campaign in my local swing congressional district which is NY 3rd Congressional District. Please research the people in the district now and before supporting anyone in an election cycle be informed!

Yes, take a break from playing “Bad & Boujee” on repeat and listen to these hearings instead. It will be very enlightening. Some past ones to review are:

THE RESISTANCE

Lots going on today people! The most productive thing I did was join the emergency call to action call from Moveon.org and The Indivisible. It was a 2hr call with 10K people, 80% of whom were marching in the streets yesterday all over the world! (And they said this march wouldn’t do anything). They were training us on the guidebook that The Indivisible created which you can find here. Below are the main messages from the call.

Major Keys for The Resistance Movement to be successful:

We are acting on the principle that Trump’s Agenda is an abomination, racist, authoritarian and Un-American

Our resistance will be through LOCAL congressional advocacy

We are embracing/pushing progressive values that are meant to benefit ALL Americans, especially the ones that need it most, out of LOVE and KINDNESS. (aka Don’t be a Jerk)

Non-Violence is key. We are acting out of LOVE for our fellow Americans who are under-represented, marginalized, and being used as a political prop

De-escalation is key. Taking a page from the Dakota Pipeline on this one.

Again, come to everything out of a place of LOVE for one another, even those that mock and oppose you. When they go low, we go high.

Best Practices From Past Successful grassroots movements:

Use Your Constituent Power: For now, focus on YOUR Senators and representatives. These folks care deeply about being re-elected and are paranoid about losing at home because something like the race in NC can happen to anyone with a movement this strong!

Also, it does no good to call members of Congress outside of your district because they frankly will not care and you will be wasting your time. Midterm elections are another story, but for now stay local!

There is power in both Responding to AND Defending members of congress on their approval of the Trump agenda

Red States: You make sure you let them know of your disapproval and have a reason why. If you have a compelling story, now is the time to tell it and let them know you will be active in swinging their district if they refuse to do so.

Blue States: Positive Reinforcement/ encouragement is key! Tell the Senators who are killing it to keep fighting with everything they have because you are with them (shout out to Chuck Schumer!), or give them a little push if you don’t think they are being bold enough

Trump’s agenda depends on members of Congress approving that agenda, and We The People CAN have a say in that. Look at what happened when the GOP tried to Jam through Trump’s cabinet picks without the proper paperwork or the attempts to dismantle the Ethics Office in Congress. Trump would make you think it was his tweet alone, but groups like the indivisible were alive and well in making that happen. Also, when.

Remember Visiting your Senator’s Office is > A Phone Call > Writing a Letter > Tweeting

CALL TO ACTION #1: Attend a Stop Trump’s #SwampCabinet Rally on 1/24

Every Tuesday, beginning this Tuesday 1/24, the goal is to have as many people as possible join events designed to fight Trump’s crooked Agenda. You may have seen the hashtag #ResistTrumpTuesdays, this is what they are talking. This Tuesday, the call to action is to go to their Senator’s office and ask your Senators Oppose Trump’s #SwampCabinet.

Ok stop right there, I know what you are thinking… really… going to their office? I haven’t been to a senator’s office since that one field trip we took in High School that one time. This is way out of my comfort zone. But you don’t have to go at it alone! Go with a group who are also going and rally against these cabinet picks. You can go to Moveon.org/Jan24 to find groups that are planning to go to their senator’s office on 1/24. If you can’t find one, or it says its full or you can’t get off of work, or you’re reading this thinking, “I’m no Erin Brockovich here, I have to take care of my kids” no worries try to join next Tuesday or simply call! And remember to record everything good or bad with your experience and tag it #Indivisible or #ResistTrump or #ResistTrumpTuesdays.

CALL TO ACTION #2: Get Connected and Recruit

There are numerous groups near you putting a full court press on Congress, in every state in America, no matter how Red that state might be. You can join one that interests you by going to The Indivisible website or act.moveon.org to find one near you. If you have a group and you want to recruit new members, register your group on both of these sites and include your contact info so others can join you.

As stated in my call to action, I joined Rise & Resist in NYC. I liked that they had a POC caucus and that they meet weekly for resistance planning. I will be attending group meetings this coming Tuesday and Wednesday after work this week. Excited to connect with people outside of the comments section of Facebook and on Twitter lol.

TRUMPLAND

So after tweeting/mocking the women’s march on Washington yesterday, The Donald then sent a tweet of praise of our “democracy in action,” which he definitely DID NOT write (it’s speculation, but complete sentences are just kind of not his thing). But ends up this was definitely supposed to be a distraction from the fact that Kelly Ann Conway and others confirmed that Donald Trump, yet again, reneged on his campaign promise to release his Tax Returns when they were done being audited. They have stated in the past that the people have moved on and only the media wants to see his tax returns. Well Donald We Aren’t the Media, and I think there are about 2.9 million+ of us in the US that want to see those Tax Returns.

But we may get them… the ACLU has filed legal documents to demand access to key documents concerning his conflicts of interest via The Freedom of Information Act to untangle his conflicts of interest… so maybe we’ll see them after all. But I wouldn’t hold my breath. (Side note, how Woke are the people writing for TeenVogue right now? Shout out to the younger generation!)
