One-eyed Sea Monster: By FireflyMage
Along, along the sea,
Crossed alone,
A one eyed being,
The sea stilled like a mirror,
Underneath its one eyed glare
Its feet only touched the surface,
It crossed with hazy purpose
Fish gathered in a circle,
Around it, around they go.
No storm remains in it trail,
Not even behind its swirly tail
Once I was blessed by its sight,
One night when our town had such a fright
Come, come we pleaded,
For the one-eyed being we needed
Then came the being,
If it headed out calls, we could not gleam
It turned its gaze upon our town,
And stilled the storms in which we nearly drowned
Then away it went,
It and its circle of fish out adrift
As the sun started to rise,
I swear I saw its eye
With tears it cried,
With fear I spied,
Waving farewell,
The one-eyed being fell
It fell into the sea,
It’s single eye glistening,
Where did it go?
Will I ever know?
The one eyed-being that calmed the sea,
From then on out was never seen
