He heeds her warning, stopping a few feet away from her. It’s been a year? Two? Around there he believes since he escaped from Konoha again. 

The memory comes to him after all this time. On the way trying to bring him back to the village after his fight with Naruto, he escaped from them once again. The technical details of his escape him, but the consuming feeling stayed with him. Every fiber of his being revolting at the mere idea of returning to that place. A desperation clawing at his ribs, wanting to break them and escape him in anyway it could. Somehow he did it and has not ran into anyone familiar since.

He’s been keeping a low profile, sticking to countries far from Konoha. Business however has brought him near the borders of Land of Fire. Of course he would meet one of his former comrades. 

Sakura. The tension in her features doesn’t escape him, he prepares himself for a quick escape. If she won’t let him pass he will have to wait it out and try find a different route. Perhaps scrap the entire mission because she could warn the rest and have Leaf shinobi crawling through the forest. 

None of that needed to happen. They could part ways without creating any sort of situation. If only he could believe that, she wouldn’t. He will still try. 

“I need to pass. I don’t seek to start conflict Sakura.”

He takes a step forward.
