“Fitness and physical activity demonstrated inverse associations with incident cardiovascular disease in the general population, as well as in individuals with elevated genetic risk for these diseases” What this essentially means is that it doesn’t matter whether you have ‘great’, ‘average’ or ‘bad’ genes, physical activity, exercise and cardiorespiratory fitness substantially reduce the chances of developing cardiovascular disease. Get that breathing puffing and that heart pumping! (at Fit Grey Strong)

Last night I got to finally experience the wonderful physical & mental challenges of indoor climbing 🧗🏼‍♀️with a big thank you to @bowieboy64 for her coaching, guidance and encouragement. I must admit it was a real buzz & I’ll definitely be climbing walls again. If you haven’t tried and are looking for something that works your body & mind in ways you couldn’t or wouldn’t think were possible get on it. (NB. We forgot to take pics so the one shown is not me) (at Fit Grey Strong)

The “high protein, high carb, high fat Sicilian family reunion” diet! 👍🏽😂 The occasional & celebratory indulgence is fine provided it’s occasional and not a daily occurrence. The Sicilian dessert spread (see 2nd photo) was like nothing I’d ever experienced in my 50 years. Food, family and culture lie at the core of Sicilian life. Interestingly, against the backdrop of an abundance of food, good and bad, many 80 and 90 year olds celebrated the day in style. (at Ingham, Queensland)

When gyms don’t have any barbells, dumbbells, Smith machines or resistance bands, finding a weighted high-intensity exercise 🏋🏽 that will really target the glutes is challenging. However, sometimes by thinking a little bit laterally and with some innovation 🤔 there are ways of modifying a machine (in this case, the leg extension/leg curl machine) to ‘create’ an exercise that is very effective and recruits the glutes in a big way 😉👍🏽 @nike @2xu @bondsaus @_addidas (at Quest Macquarie Park)

Deep overhead 20kg plate squat 🏋🏽💪🏽😊 A great exercise for the prime movers of the lower limbs & so challenging for postural stability, balance & coordination. To regress to a beginners level, start with no weight but hands above the head & descent slowly to a point that enables you to return to standing position 6-12 times (at Fit Grey Strong)
