Created a meme today. I wanted to revisit Buddhism, discovered Buddha was not "enlightened" until  he was thirty five. Not gets to their enlightenment after college ...sometimes it takes a bit longer.

Dear Black Man, At the core of it all, I love you. We often build walls of insecurity and doubt from being too many times exposed to the imitations of you. Often times when these walls are up it’s too difficult to let the real you in. But, your energy is magnetic when you are happy...

Bikram Yoga- Thirty Day Challenge Day One
Today was the first day of the 1st thirty day challenge. Its 6:15pm and the second to last class of the evening. Planned on going to the 5:00am class but that would just be too much right before work. Coming in after work I had to definitely be mentally ready.
To prepare for class took a quick rinse down and changed into a light cami top and leggings all black. Getting ready for my first class I felt prepared
Water....Check
Towels (one large one small)....Check
Ice.......check
Slightly anxious but determined to follow through....check
I drive down the street to the local Bikram Yoga Studio in Covina, CA walking towards the door of the yoga studio I see a large building in a strip mall area. The outside is reminiscent of a “you buy we fry” market store with the cartoonlike drawings on the outside, completely polar appearance from the clean vision you would imagine presented on the website. The inside was dated but spacious with a warm calming feel, Indian art and script decorated the walls and tables.
Its 6:20pm with only towels and yoga mat in hand; I was greeted with a big smile as I walked up to the counter to complete the 1st time waiver application.  After a brief intro to the instructor and details about the studio, I entered the humid heated room.  The walls were peach colored with graffiti signatures of all the other yoga challengers that had entered the room and survived. Temperatures were at 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Designed to replicate yoga’s birthplace climate.
Class started simple enough with breathing exercises, half moons and back bends….then ‘ish got real by the fourth position (Eagle Pose) my black cami and leggings were complete soaked from perspiration.  With the heat and the swift movements I was determined to keep pushing though but once we got to the lying exercises the quick changes from facing the front of the room to the back while on the floor proved to be slightly overwhelming. I started to see spots in front of my eyes and began losing my balance feeling light headed. The instructor opened a hallway door to let a bit of cool air in. It was the most satisfying burst of air I needed to perk up and finish the rest of the class. I had done a bit of home work on yoga and even according to Covina Bikram Yoga’s website this is a normalcy during the first experience
“You will feel challenged by the yoga during class, everyone does. Always work to your edge, but listen to your body and your inner wisdom. As a beginner, never be afraid to sit down if you need to. It’s normal, especially when you first get started, to feel dizzy, nauseated or lightheaded. It’s temporary, and as your body acclimates and detoxifies, these sensations will disappear.”
After class I was completely drenched with sweat from head to toes. Lips pink and face flushed -The night air was so refreshing for a split second then getting into the car I was cold  and clammy- the only drawback.
This was a great experience that I am excited to pursue

So it BEGINS
It is hours before the start of my first thirty day challenge on my first blog. Determined to start and complete a journey to better health, wealth, beauty and overall feel goodieness (and a slimmer waistline) Fitmix will document each plan  of endurance. Many times we  try different challenges for better self improvement whether it is a personal fad or a life long commitment.
As the saying goes it takes thirty days (or 21 the jury is still out) to either break bad habits or start new ones. This will document a little from A and a little from B. With the over reaching goal of improved lifestyle Fitmix will determine in thirty days if this is something that can be given a lifelong commitment or just a FADding in the wind. A thirty day triumph or bust.
Hope you enjoy and please feel free to let me know your thirty day challenges too!
