going through some old files i came across this shot of my daughters sharing a gigantic pixie stix. i shot this when i was clearly into lots of color. if i had an image i liked but was not happy with the background, i would draw in my own. I never really liked the finished product but the process was very therapeutic. i believe this process, growing from my dissatisfaction with my images, is what led me to a deep appreciation of collage. Father's Day at the Eastern Market. I didn't get to see my own kids till dinner time (except for Zoe, thanks mom!) but it was cool seeing all of the dads and kids out enjoying the day. This dad was so proud of his son who will be born in about a month. I know, he's not technically a dad yet but I think it counts. The world's getting another rad dad, that's what it's about. I was shooting with the Afghan Box Camera with a gray background and 1000 watts of light. I made a new paper holder for my Afghan Box Camera. The old holder was just a couple of brass tabs and this one is a complete frame on a hinge. The negative has a 1/4" white border, and when I shoot the positive I reduce the image size a bit so that I get a double border frame around the uncropped image. This is one of my first sample images.
